You guys have been beyond patient as I wound up focusing on novel over fanfic. But Chapter 11: "What the Poets Write About" is finally up! Chapter 13: "Nothing but Work, Work, Work" is half done, and I'm trying to figure out how much to torture Miles in Chapter 12: "Many Ways to Have a Good Time.
Chapter Summary: Bass continues to horrify Charlie by reading The Stand, but it sparks questions. Sex ed lessons continue. Important conversations are had. Charlie finally gets why sex is a big deal, and Bass verbally admits he's caught feelings. AKA Payoff, for all you patient people!
For anyone remotely interested, you can pick up my novel, Darkness Falling at the link. It's basically the answer to "What if the Blackout happened in the world of The Originals, Bass was a witch, Hayley was a snow leopard shifter instead of a werewolf, some Teen Wolves showed up (look, there's a wolf shifter named Isaac McCall who wears a lot of scarves. I make no apologies for this) and Bass and Miles were fated mates (but Miles thinks he's straight)? It was originally going to be fanfic, but after I spent a year world building to make the canons mesh, I'd done too much original work to not go all the way. If you like my fic, you'll probably enjoy the novel, especially if you're a Miloe fan. ;-)
If you are a fan of the teenage woofs, I've also got a new series started for them that's Peter/Lydia/Chris at its core, especially the first fic (which follows an AU Season 1). "Prophets and Kings"
Summary/Series premise: Canon is what happened when the gods left the timeline alone to play out as it would. This story is what happens when they don't. Timey-wimey-wibbly-wobbly hijinks abound, particularly in Chapters 4-6 of first fic.
Hunters: We will eradicate the abomination that is werewolves and the rest of the supernatural world.
Lydia Martin, Banshee, soul-daughter of the Morrigan, soulmate of Peter Hale and Christopher Argent: Fuck around and find out.
Trigger warnings for non-graphic discussions of past CSA and suicide attempt, and Lydia is technically underage, but not being exploited or manipulated. I have a novel in the works for the three of them, too, but Lydia's a 300-year old vampire in that. She just looks younger than the boys.
After too long away, I've finally gotten "Seven Minutes in Heaven" updated with Chapter 10: Fight Club (and should have Chapter 11 up this week, after I figure out Jeremy and Danny/. Miles will probably show back up in Chapter 12). I suspect the Matheson siblings will finally both be relieved of their virginity pretty damn soon.
Chapter Summary:
There's no way Charlie can let Danny learn to beat her in a fight, but Bass takes training very seriously They also start book club nights. (because Bass finds her lack of pop culture knowledge depressing). Also, Charlie has questions about Bass's end goal here. Good ones.
Meanwhile, Jeremy and Danny are co-parenting new additions, but Danny wishes they were a bit more of a team.
I apologize for the long delay. My father died and I didn't feel like writing for a long while, and then I started working on a new novel! It started out as a X-over fanfic idea with Revolution and The Originals, but by the time I'd worked out how to best make them overlap, I'd done so much worldbuilding that it was more original than at all based on either show (besides the first names of the "started out as the Mikaelsons" characters). So, I shifted focus, kept worldbuolding and came up with my own, original world and story. But fans of either (or both) show will be able to still see glimmers of those worlds and stories in the foundation of the new. What emerged was the first book in a (hopefully) much larger LGBTQ+ paranormal romance series. Right now, all the planned books are MM or MMF, but I have ideas for some FF and MF (and maybe some FFM), eventually.
Basic premise I started with before I started the massive worldbuilding: What if the Blackout happened because of magic, instead of tech, and there was no way to reverse it? What if Bass was a witch and Miles and Hayley his fated soulmates? What if Klaus were Hayley's betrothed instead of Jackson, and the whole supernatural world was polyamorous? What if humans all knew about the supernatural world and supernatural creatures wanted equal rights with humans as full citizens? What if they formed their own military branch that served alongside the 4 main US ones, in order to speed acceptance and integration?
So, Book 1 is basically bb, magical Bass and Miles figuring their shit out and falling in love. Book 2 will be - roughly (because there is no perfect correlation now that I've struck out into original fic territory) Blackout through Season 1, with Book 3 wrapping it up. It can't correlate as well, because without nanotech, there's no point in the Tower or helicopter to kill Danny or any of that. And the US government wasn't responsible for it. Much to my chagrin, neither, then, was Rachel, so she's basically out of the story & there's no nanotech to try taking over the world, so--like I said, we're in uncharted waters and it doesn't correlate perfectly. But there is a Blackout and the boys are going to have epic issues, eventually, with Charloe tension on one hand and Haylijah on the other. But, basically, everyone is gay or bi and polyamorous. Book 4 is very loosely Dalaric and Book 5 will be, again, loosely based on, Peter/Lydia/Chris from Teen Wolf. It was going to be pure Petopher, but then a Lydia-like lady appeared, and the characters refused to commit to monogamy.
If you like my fanfic, especially my Miloe stuff, I think you'd like the novel. It's currently available on Amazon as both a paperback and eBook (included in Kindle Unlimited). I'd love to get some more readers who'll hopefully be predisposed to like it. If you do check it out, let me know what you think (either via a review, comment on a fic, or hitting me up here). Please also reblog, rec and review as you can! Indie publishing and being responsible for all the marketing is rough!
By the time we get fully into the series, like, be afraid for a world where the 3 most powerful men in charge are Sebastian Monroe, Klaus Mikaelson and Peter Hale, okay? Miles, Elijah, and Chris can only do so much...
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the latest installment(s) of "Seven Minutes in Heaven."
Reposhing this item I purchased from @clutterbubbles. Loved it, but it’s just a touch too small in the shoulders for me, so passing it on to someone who can comfortably wear it! Questions? Leave a comment below!
Check out this listing I just added to my Poshmark closet: Her Universe Star Wars Rey Jacket NWOT.

rereading my own writing is just a constant fluctuation between "damn, girl, you wrote this? (affectionate)" and "damn, girl, you wrote this? (derogatory)"
Now, like it or not, I’ve been your one-eyed Miyagi for most of your life, which is why I try so hard to keep you grounded, not to give you too many compliments. What part of that was a compliment? I’m getting there!
Chapter 9 is up! Apologies for any typos - I still can’t really type post-stroke, so am relying on speech-to-text mostly, which is part of what’s slowing me down! I’ve proofread extensively and will do so again tomorrow, when I’ll probably find things I missed, because I always do, even in my professional stuff that’s been through a whole editing process with paid editors!
Summary:
Fond letters are exchanged and Bass attempts to make up for Charlie's apparently lax sex ed instruction. He thinks either Maggie or Aaron really failed her.
fictional character discourse would be more fun if we all internalized the fact that characters are narrative tools, not people. once we have that basic fact down, we can start talking about what story the author is trying to tell using these characters, whether they’re successful, whether the story itself is successful and by what means we are measuring success—which are all really fun and interesting things to discuss! but we simply cannot get to that point unless we first accept that fictional characters simply do not have thoughts, feelings, opinions, or any agency on their own. a fictional character has more in common with the fictional chair theyre sitting on than with a real person
The way we talk about characters in stories would be better if we really understood that characters are just tools that writers use to tell a story.
Once we understand that, we can start talking about how the character is used to tell the story, about whether we think it’s an interested story, and about what makes something an interesting story to us.
Which are all really fun and interesting things to talk about.
But we can not do that unless we accept that characters are not people. They do not have thoughts. They do not have opinions. They do not make decisions. They only exist as tools to tell the story.
Other tools in a story are things like a chair in a story where people sit, or a palace in a fairy tale, or the sun in a story about a hot dessert. A character is like that chair, that palace and that sun: only a tool to tell the story.
A character is not like a real person. A real person can be ‘good’ or bad’ (or both) because they do good or bad things (or both), a character can only be a useful tool or a not useful tool to tell a story.
So when we hear something like “I like this character”, what we should hear is “I like this tool because it is an interesting tool to tell an interesting story”, we should not hear “I like this person and approve of their actions and would do similar actions”.
And this, dear fandom, is why censorship is A Bad Thing
Gov. Abbott Calls Books “Pornography,” Attempts To Remove LGBTQ+ Titles From Schools
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ® has called on the state’s school boards to investigate and eradicate books with subject matter related to race and gender from public school libraries and classrooms.
[…]
Cason shared his statement on Twitter, referring to “Gender Queer” and other books that “may violate the Penal Code” as “criminal activity” that “should not be made available to children by the actual people who are tasked in educating them and keeping them safe from harm.”
[…]
In the letter, Krause included a list with the titles of roughly 850 books that were largely related to topics of sexuality, gender identity, race, and sexual health. An analysis of Krause’s list by The Dallas Morning News found that “of the first 100 titles listed, 97 were written by women, people of color or LGBTQ authors.”
You can call a lot of things “porn” and “criminal” if you just squint enough. It’s never only going to be the content you personally hate and deem “immoral”. Never.
