These days, these weeks, these times are tough, tough for everyone of us. That’s probably one of the most horrifying pandemic we ever had to experience. I’m a health care worker and I know how hard this pandemic can be for my patients. I see it in their eyes and voices. i can see it in my family, in my friendship group, in the behavior from my own boyfriend.
The main thing about the Virus is the fear of what’s going to happen if you catch it. The Virus itself isn’t the problem. It’s the fear.
As a health care worker, you expect to get infected everyday. You just get used to it after a while. But when you’re not dealing with that everyday at work. Trying to enjoy life is the most difficult thing to do for you.
What you shouldn’t forget is, that this life is still yours. You can still make the most out of it. Don’t worry about what’s going to happen to you, if you catch it. I mean yeah, the fear is huge. But anyway: Doctors are working on better treatments everyday. Even though I’m not quite into the vaccine - there is a vaccine already. This Virus is a huge topic in our lives - but everyday, people are working on how to deal with it in the best possible way. Some things are just out of your control. The only thing you have to desperately focus on is to protect yourself and others. Everything else is out of your control.
You can always try to make your family and friends understand what’s best to do. Like wearing a mask, social distancing to others, sneezing and coughing in your ellbow.
Today there are so many ways to still keep contact to your friends. What I do is Videochatting with them from time to time, just whenever we feel like it. Everything we can do when we’re together is something that we can also do through Group Videochats.
Currently the sacrifice everyone has to be able to do is keep some distance to your loved ones. It can be quite tough. But never forget that this isn’t a sign that you would love them less. It’s the opposite! You love them so much, care about them so much, that you’re able to go through that.
The Pandemic gives lots of people hard times. But what you always have to think about is, that now that there is this pandemic, people have to Me’s: The Real-Me (the person they actually are) and the Pandemic-Me (the person they are because of Covid, just someone that’s afraid and scared of the unknown)
Try to understand your loved ones, be there for them and show them some love and affection. Give them everything they need, but take care of your health when you do that - for both of you!
You’re capable of so much more than you expect. Just believe in yourself. Believe in the fact, that there’s going to be a time when we can finally laugh about this topic again. We already went through lots of dark times in history. Let’s not forget this. We already experienced a lot of diseases - e. g. Ebola, Tuberculosis, Aids - we always found a way to keep it in a small circle and to cure or treat it.
So why shouldn’t we be able to do the same now?
We just need a bit more patience and trust in the people doing researches about this Virus. They need your time and trust. It’s a “new” Virus that needs to be discovered. We don’t know enough so far to completely cure it. But we already found better ways to treat patients that suffer from COVID.
Let’s work on this thing together, believe in each other and make the most out of what’s given to us.
