I am very on board with the idea that The Ineffable Plan inherently involves Aziraphale and Crowley in pivotal ways. Aziraphale's flaming sword became War's sword, and God didn't push it when Aziraphale said he lost it, even though s/he is (presumably) omniscient and knew he was lying. When he is reprimanded for losing requisitioned property by the Quartermaster, he assumes they're talking about the sword, but they're not. The sword seems to have inexplicably disappeared from the property log.

Him giving away the sword was necessary for the Great Plan to come to fruition. There's no way the duo's thwarting of it wasn't also part of something Greater.

This is beautiful, and I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who saw a hint of a rainbow, which is so sad because Aziraphale truly thought it was a promise that God would never be so cruel again after the Flood.

so i will admit that my knowledge of the old testament (even less the tanakh) is dicey at best, so i did a little revision. book of job essentially is the test of job's trust and loyalty to god, satan buying into this by taking away all of his earthly comforts, wealth etc., to encourage job to abandon his beliefs and score a point for the Opposition

so what if crowley's involvement in this point of the story is to make job's life an absolute misery? bring him suffering because that's what he's been ordered to do? and aziraphale has to pretty much sit by and watch it happen? they just have to trust that this is god's plan and everything happens for a reason?

if this is the case, it would stand to reason that they both lament their roles on earth, having to watch humankind be tested in ways that are ultimately cruel and unnecessary. we know from the crowley clip that crowley later on ends up questioning the whole point of angels and demons and the structure of it all, what their purpose is... what crowley's (and by extension - aziraphale's) purpose is?

what if they realise that they can seek comfort from each other here? what if that line of thinking, and realising that only the other truly understands them, starts at this very moment?

Hard agree. I feel like it may be the first time they both truly feel apart from their respective Side’s machinations. God giving the Devil/Adversary free reign to make one man suffer extreme loss and hardship in order to prove a point, a pawn in the celestial game that neither of our protagonists are all that interested in playing.

Forgot for a minute that Heaven was probably re-modeled over the centuries until we got to the modern look that exists today and therefore I'm probably inaccurately representing Crowley's fall from grace when I picture him being tossed out an office window

Seeing Muriel’s full Other Outfit on the poster makes me so happy. Aziraphale was the first Angel they met on Earth and they imprinted on him like a duckling.

okay so i think it is almost definite that crowley and aziraphale do have a falling out right at the beginning of s2, and we have a time skip

people (understandably i guess) are getting vocal about crowley's aspect placement, but iirc mr g has said that the snake likes to be visible and therefore will move with his hairline. with that in mind, if we look at his sideburns (which btw, yum, dont @ me)

are way shorter here (and the aspect is just above his jawline), compared to:

plus his hair is shorter after the skip AND the glasses change

and yeah the skip may only be a couple of months/a year or so after the falling out, but so soon after agreeing to be on each other's side? after toasting to the world? im finding the nearest bridge

We know the below, along with the scene with Shax in the park, happen in episode one thanks to file naming conventions on Amazon’s part:

He also appears to have the short sideburns and old glasses while speeding through London at night with his plants - maybe after getting evicted? (Though snake is MIA!)

To add to this, there’s an Agent Fazuli character who only appears in the first episode, which to my American ears sounds like law enforcement, but that’s not generally used in the UK, right? Is it possible he’s the estate agent who kicks Crowley out of his flat for nonpayment, which is then how we get to car plants and ennui?

And then this (file names again) is episode 2 and episode 5 respectively- the new glasses and hair appear (so far) in the second episode and seem to remain for the rest of the season:

Which, per the sideburns in the jump scare scene, you're totally right - Crowley doesn't find out that Gabriel is in the shop until after that time jump. So the lightning rage is not about Gabriel. It's about something else entirely. After all they've been through, it would make sense that the one thing to send Crowley into such a rage would be Aziraphale going back to his tired, scared excuses and not letting Crowley in, both literally and emotionally, when he needs his best friend most.

(ETA: A falling out would also explain Crowley’s uncharacteristically tense and closed off body language in the bar, if they’re still fighting and this is the first olive branch? Only calling Crowley when he needs his help with Gabriel would be a characteristically dick move for Aziraphale tbh. He can only reach out when he has a ‘work’ excuse.)

It’s after the time jump, and Crowley is still in his car. The plants are noticeable bigger. And the Bond stickers are gone, so did something happen to the window? No wonder our boy is tense.

Now I want to write up a bigger timeline based on this I am CRAZED.

My new pet theory for Season 2 is that the whole romantic subplot is to distract Muriel (and Gabriel?) while Aziraphale and Crowley try to figure out the real mystery.

Muriel showing up while they’re talking about Gabriel and the jukebox like “ooh, something to INVESTIGATE???” and Aziraphale scrambling and just coming up with “oh yeah these two ladies really like each other but won’t date, HUMAN MYSTERY, angels help with those kind of things down here you know, why don’t you, er, here, read these books so you understand humans and then go ask them some questions. Find some clues. Across the street. Very much in another building than the bookshop. Any other building.”
