not sure how clearly i explained myself here so i just want to reiterate: it’s not about severing that connection. i think siffrin should try to learn more about his country and culture, and reconnect with it where he can. there’s a reason doing so was such an integral part of learning about the loops and how to break free from them. siffrin needs to acknowledge this part of their past. “letting go” is about the grief, in my opinion. and the only way to stop living in grief is to let yourself feel it.
siffrin has spent their entire life ignoring their problems. and the issue with that is that it doesn’t make the problems go away. they just fester, and build up in you like a rot. it doesn’t solve anything. it just makes it worse.
learning to let go means looking it in the eye. it means not waiting for the universe to take you back to where you were. it isn’t going to. you can’t go back. it already happened.
but what do you have now? what do you have left? you don’t have to just. assimilate, and forget about your roots. that’s gross. letting go = accepting that it happened = acknowledging it. being honest about the truth of it. you have to let yourself move forward with your life, because life goes on — but of course that doesn’t mean this isn’t a part of your life. it always will be.
“i don’t want to think about it, because it hurts too much to accept.” this is the thing siffrin needs to let go of. the denial, the refusal to acknowledge the loss.
the home from their past is gone. it isn’t coming back. it hurts, it’s awful, and it isn’t fair! it shouldn’t have happened, it should never have happened — but it did.
and it lives on in you, still. that’s an important part of it. the past is gone, but you are still here. you can try to rebuild, no one’s saying that you can’t! you just can’t let it destroy you. that’s all it is.
