jason and tim :)
when bruce is in a particularly bad headspace, god help the first batkid he sees. a zombie in his own home, eyes glazed over even as his body moves with his ingrained fluidity and grace. the moment he registers one of his children in his radius, his head snaps in their direction and the hunt begins. with a speed only a Flash could outdo, he’s dragging his kid into his arms, tucking their head into the crook of his neck and carrying them to the living room to initiate family cuddles. the others will stop by for a few hours, or perhaps the whole night, but that first child is never leaving his arms.
bruce gets so embarrassed once he’s back in his own body, but what he doesn’t know is that the kids all fight over who gets the comfort of Papa Bat cuddles.
sure, they could still join later, but they like seeing bruce, reduced to only his rawest self, be torn out of his own self hatred because he loves them more than he could ever hate himself. even stuck in a miserable spiral, all it takes is one look at any of his kids and he is rushing to love on them

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Chapters: 17/18 Fandom: Batman - All Media Types, DCU Rating: Explicit Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Rape/Non-Con, Underage Sex Relationships: Tim Drake/Original Male Character(s), tim drake/callum braxton hadley, Tim Drake & Duke Thomas, Tim Drake & Jason Todd, Tim Drake & Bruce Wayne, Tim Drake & Lex Luthor Characters: Tim Drake (DCU), Lex Luthor, Duke Thomas, Callum Braxton Hadley, Jason Todd Series: Part 5 of Endophyte
Summary:
The threat has changed. It’s been months since Tim, his family, and some of the Justice League were enslaved by a mind control drug that his boyfriend—his owner, his lover, his captor—helped distribute. After freeing his brother and being slipped the synthesis for a cure, Tim is no longer just surviving until a rescue. He can’t. No one is coming to save him, it’s his job to save everyone else.
And with Lex Luthor having ulterior motives for Tim and his brother, Tim’s sanity slipping between his fingers, and fighting his boyfriend for every inch of ground he gets, it isn’t going to be easy.
And then, of course, there is the problem of Jason fucking Todd.
i hate when people ask me really deep-cut hyper-nuanced wibbly-wobbly impossible-to-answer questions about dc canon, such as "how old are the characters supposed to be"
Thinking of a scenario where Damian gets kidnapped and replaced by a fairytale type creature. Damian’s stuck behind a mirror so he can watch and hear what his clone and his family do and how they interact with each other.
To his horror, he can only observe as his twin became the ideal son and brother. Never causing conflict or arguing. Perfectly obedient. Totally unlike Damian.
Surely they’ll figure out there’s something wrong with him. That the real Damian is trapped right in front of them. But they don’t. They never mention it or express any concern at the change in attitude. Which is impossible, this is a family full of detectives, they most certainly know…
Then Damian realizes that they do know, and they just don’t care. More so, they might just prefer the imposter to the real one.
Damian is trapped behind glass while his family chooses a doppelgänger over himself.
But in reality, the Batfamily knows. Almost immediately they know. The problem is is that they have know idea where or even how Damian was taken. They have to put up a front for the fake Damian to keep him from getting suspicious while they figure out a way to get Damian back.
And they get him out of the mirror and they all hug and it’s a happy ending :)

caretaker manhandling whumpee. having to get them into a certain position for a medical examination, pinning them down while trying to get them medicine/bandages without them squirming and protesting, picking them up when they're lethargic and carrying them in general, grabbing whumpee by the (metaphorical. but not really) scruff before they get themselves into danger...
trauma-bonding in whump.... whumper bandaging whumpee's wounds after inflicting them, reassuring them that it'll be okay, this is for their own good. feeding them after working them to the bone, giving them nice clothes, washing them. it works well when whumpee is in isolation, and eventually comes around to somewhat accept whumper, given the fact that they have no one else
Whump prompt #5
Opportunities for casual/pointless/petty violence.
Shoving / dragging whumpee every time they need to start moving.
Slamming the whumpee's head down into the desk/table they're sitting at.
Throwing an item at whumpee to get their attention (preferably something fast, hard and heavy)
Whumper kicking/slapping/shaking whumpee awake as they walk past
Whumper grabbing whumpee's jaw every time they want whumpee to look at them,
Knocking whatever they're holding/carrying out of their hands.
Shoulder-barging/shoving whumpee into a wall every time whumper walks past them.
Dragging them upright by their collar/throat
Thumping 'playfully' on the shoulder/thigh at every opportunity.
And imagine this is whumpee's life. Constantly. All day, every day. I wonder what their state of mind would be like? Bonus points if this is so normalised that no-one reacts to it when it happens.
Guy who never feels like his problems are “bad enough” to be taken seriously: what if I hurt the character so horrifically that everyone around them could not possibly deny the severity of their pain even if the character themself tries to downplay it.
I really like silent comfort.... maybe for a whumpee who's too embarrassed to truly let their guard down, to ask for care verbally and relish in it visibly, maybe for a caretaker who isn't great with words. loaded glances and signals, a familiar routine that they've both been accustomed to, cradling them in the dead of night without saying a word
Beloved Whump Prompt #170
Mock execution but it's Whumpee B who is made to believe that Whumpee A is going to be (or even is) killed.
Bonus Point: this is how Whumper is finally able to break a stoic and/or defiant Whumpee B.
something I really like in parental caretaker - whumpee relationships is the taboo of it all ... especially for a whumpee that has been traumatized by a parental figure before + teen whumpee under caretaker's legal power.
parent - child relationships are incredibly unique considering the fact that they're the only ones that truly entail unconditional love ... and after missing out on it, it's very hard to get back. but you never really stop craving it, no matter how disgusted you feel about it. there's also the dilemma of having to position yourself as a "child" in said relationship, after such a long time of not being allowed to, and being embarrassed/concerned about the age they're currently at. because god, they want to cry, they want to scream, they want to curl up besides caretaker and never leave again out of fear of having to face the world again, but they know they can't. they shouldn't. there's something wrong with them...
on the caretaker's side I also think it's a delicate balance to strike. on one hand, whumpee does deserve to live out a childhood they never had, it's good that they're warming up, but whumpee is almost regressing. it's not particularly good for a healing journey, especially with separation anxiety in the mix. the older they get, the more interesting I find it to be, though I also really enjoy a younger whumpee who doesn't really want to put themselves back into a "Child" position since they equate it with powerlessness and abuse. I think a slow acceptance of it is also great...
parental caretaker struggling with how much authority they should assert. whumpee is independent and smart, yes, but they're also a kid. a very unstable one, at that. they try a few times, and notice the way the light in their eye fades, or a deep rage ignites. whumpee lashes out, eventually apologizing, and caretaker's not sure how to respond to it.
otherwise: kid whumpee who just. listens to them entirely. maybe they're the first person to have shown kindness to them, parental one no less. they feel that they can lose them any second, so therefore, they must keep up caretaker's whims. caretaker slowly becomes concerned about this, and whumpee panics, having upset them.
