I think fandom culture is proof of this. People give their time, energy and talent for the sole purpose of being enjoyed by them (for making it) and others (for consuming it).

Give people the freedom to do what makes them passionate and be surprised how many teachers you have, scientists, doctors, and yes -even retail and food workers.
