He’s not an “I told you so” kind of God.
He’s a “come here. welcome Home. I’ll fix you. I love you. My grace never runs out. Just believe that it’s enough” kind of God.
Just out of curiosity
I’ve not had this done and have no plans to get it done, but is Microblading alright to do in the church? It’s not the same as an actual make-up tattoo because it’s only semipermanent, and personally I’d say the difference between the two is like the difference between a real and a henna tattoo.
BUT you are cutting/piercing the skin to implant ink to alter appearance, so I’m wondering if it’s more of a gray area? Has anyone asked anyone who would actually know?
I’d assume it would be okay? I mean members of the church get surgery to alter ones appearance? I’ve heard nothing in church policy that speaks against that? So a semi permanent eyebrow alteration.. I wouldn’t understand the issue.
Good point! Though it does sound like the church kind of cautions against plastic surgery, they don’t come out and say they are opposed to it like they do permanent tattoos. Thanks =)
cosmetic surgery can be addicting and sometimes not enough to fix ones self image.. I believe that this quote could be cautioning against the fact it may not end with whats on the outside, but its inside that needs altering.. I mean I dont want to be one of those people but pray about it! since its just a caution and not a policy or commandment I dont see the harm if you feel okay about it. I know a sweet sister who prayed about getting tattoos on her wrists to cover up self harm scars and God prompted her it was okay for the reasoning? so I have no clue.. I got my tattoos and never felt I had sinned or wronged God. I think its a personal thing most definitely. since microblading is only temporary? one could say the same for dying of the hair? especially if its permanent and only comes out through growth.. arent we still altering the hair colour and body our Father gave to us? :)
My bishop cautions against it but says it’s a personal choice. It DOES need to be redone every so often and sometimes people react to the ink, same as tattoos (yes, permanent tattoos need retouching after some amount of time) Policy wise it is a gray area but I trust my bishop’s counsel on it.
My rule about stuff like this is to get a blessing about it that you can transcribe, and take that counsel with prayer to the Lord.
One of my favorite things about the Church is that THE MEN ARE NOT ASHAMED TO CRY IN PUBLIC. All of the brethren crying openly while bearing their testimonies? So pure.
Like I don’t know if that’s a Church-wide thing but at least in my branch there’s almost no toxic masculinity. Young men bake cookies to share with each other and love playing with the nursery children. Teenage boys and their fathers openly express physical affection. And yes, men cry. They cry when they’re talking, but also cry when listening to others talk about their suffering. And its a beautiful thing and should be cherished.
Yes, I love how men in the church are allowed to cry! They also encourage men to spend time and show affection to their children. Hypermasculinity and male privilege and entitlement are still a huge problem here, but men cry, they hug each other, they genuinely love their wives and kids. It’s great.
hypermasculinity is still a really irritating problem in every ward I’ve ever lived in but I’d agree that men having valid outlets to express emotion is a thing we generally do pretty well and that we can build more off of!

…in the ordinances thereof, the power of godliness is manifest. Doctrine & Covenants 84:20

To all Christian blogs: Christ’s salvation gives us security against the consequences of our sin. it does NOT give you license to sin freely. You can “identify” as a Christian all you want, but without repentance and a desire for a new life in Christ then all you’ve gained is the false sense of self-righteousness I see manifesting in mainstream Christianity.
Are you guys aloud to wear shorts? I'm a Christian and I was interested in you religion and I know someone who's family is Mormon and she said they're pretty strict on what to wear and stuff.. And I asked missionaries but they avoided my question so?
Yes, we can wear shorts, but the Church does have guidelines on modesty and whatnot. We believe that our bodies are temples, and want to dress in a way that promotes wholesome interaction and mindsets. Skirts, dresses, and shorts should reach your knee area. So, yes, we can wear shorts, but mini shorts are off-limits. If you want to really read more into it than my short response, go check out the Church’s website and their official statements on modesty at https://www.lds.org/topics/modesty?lang=eng
God: I want you to do the thing.
me: hm... I have this... strange desire to do the thing
God: yeah do the thing
me: but does God want me to do the thing?
God: yes do the thing
me: maybe it's just my own feelings
God: yeah it's me talking through them do the thing
me: are you sure you want me to do the thing?
God: do it
me: hm. are you sure?
God: I am saying clearly for you to do the thing. here is my solid, firm sign.
me: ok I'll do the thing
*literally ten minutes later*
me: what if I heard wrong ?? God do you want me to do the thing??

Today I remembered how Jesus chose, hung out with, and trained up 12 messy, sinful, average underdogs (aka. the Apostles) who carried out His plan and preached the Gospel, shared His love, and made disciples in nations all over the world… and I thought about how flawed and average I feel sometimes, but how God can take what seems small, average, and unusable, and use it to change the world.
That really encouraged me.
Out of all the things I’ve received at pride parades, as a Christian, this one is my favorite.
This sort of thing is really so, so important for queer religious kids. Seriously, someone should sell these somewhere so others can buy them for the LGBTQ+ members of any given religions.
Oh gosh yes.

A PSA for those invalidating LGBT+ Mormons who stay active
You do not have the right to tell us what makes us happy. You do not have the right to invalidate our identities or assume our motives/goals. You do not have the right to speak over us or pretend to know how we feel. It can be difficult to balance faith with our other facets (gender, sexuality, etc.) but it isn’t your place to tell us how to find the center and be at peace. We love the Gospel. We love our faith. That should be enough. That is enough.
And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. Matthew 18:2,5

I can’t even browse through the BYU tag on here without being bombarded by anti-mormon hate..
Honestly it’s getting ridiculous? Like I haven’t been on this tag for probably a year and it hasn’t changed.
You would think people had better things to do with their time than tear down other people’s faith.
Yeah, seriously. Like I went to the BYU tag because I thought it would have less hate there. I was wrong. And I know some people said it was because of “BYU’s honor code policy” and things like that, but there were so many hate posts not even related to those issues. Like, I respect other people’s beleifs.. but apparently it’s too much to ask the same in return.
I just blacklist the exmormon and anti-LDS tags. It helps dramatically, though admittedly it’s not a foolproof method and doesn’t work on mobile
Yeah, I’ve been needing to do that. But I mostly use tumblr on mobile, so it wouldn’t help me too much. Thanks though!
