Immediately after her Embrace, a Kindred is open to all possibilities. Indeed, for a few nights Ventrue can in fact feed on any vessel they please. It is not until the first taste of vitae that she considers truly exquisite that a choice is made.

There's this pervading notion that Ventrue come into unlife already having their rarified tastes. While all Ventrue do have feeding restrictions, those who are newly Embraced are the exception. The bane only kicks in once a vampire has tasted the "good stuff" and finds that they can't stomach anything else.

In this way, Ventrue feeding restrictions can and do change. It may have something to do with the Ventrue's disposition and desires. For instance, Democritus who was Embraced to fight Carthage developed a taste for Carthagian blood. With Carthage no longer being a nation, his restriction transitioned to Byzantium (another nation he waged war on). I suppose when all the Byzantines died out, he found another nation he would wring blood out off through war and feeding.

So no worries about a Ventrue's preferred vessels going extinct and them having to wither away without food. Perhaps they will if their psyches are too stubborn to adapt, but self-preservation dictates changing with the times. Adapt or perish.

Also, they can always just eat other Kindred. No restrictions apply there.

I love giving my fuckass shapeshifting vampires fuckass animal forms. Yeah the guy who is considered one of the oldest truly (US) American vampires turns into a corn snake. Another one of them turns into a bear and he’s relatively content with that compared to his evil boss/maker who turns into a literal pathetic ass weasel. Fuck you all <3
