Reblog to hug prev poster (they need a hug)
For those not speaking French, it explains there’s an art installation, with an alley surrounded by flags. These flags are those of the countries where being gay is still illegal, and a sign telling what is the penalty for being gay there.

“As the Bechdel Test began to creep into the sightline of mainstream movie criticism, it was notable to see the surprise of some male critics that their favorite movies—One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Goodfellas, The Princess Bride, Clerks, the original Star Wars trilogy, the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, and even Tootsie, when you get right down to it—so soundly flunked it. For many women, the reaction was more of a shrug, along with relief that, finally, there was a simple way to help writers and directors step over an embarrassingly low baseline. To be clear, applying the rule isn’t about snatching away the well-earned status of Raging Bull or The Godfather or even This Is Spinal Tap. As Anita Sarkeesian, creator of the Web site Feminist Frequency, noted in a 2009 video about the rule, “It’s not even a sign of whether it’s a feminist movie, or whether it’s a good movie, just that there’s a female presence in it.” The latter point is something that many people fail to grasp when trying to explain away why their favorite movies don’t pass the test (“But Batman is the hero of the movie! Of course the women characters are going to talk about him!”): the Bechdel Test is not a judgment of quality or nuance. After all, the beautiful, moving Gravity fails the test, while a formulaic rom-com like 27 Dresses passes with no problem. But the test itself is a simple, bloodless assessment of whether female characters are deemed important to a story—and a way to conclude that, most of the time, they aren’t.”
— We Were Feminists Once: From Riot Grrrl to CoverGirl®, the Buying and Selling of a Political Movement (Zeisler, Andi)
This makes me happy that it has an explanation, because too many people misunderstand the point of the test. “It sets the bar too low!” They say. That’s the point. It’s the lowest bar possible and many movies can’t pass it.

Rating: Explicit Fandom: One Direction (Band) Relationships: Marcel/Louis Tomlinson Additional Tags: Alternate Universe, Harry Styles is Marcel, Rival Authors, Enemies to Lovers, Loss of Virginity, First Time, Blow Jobs, Sexting, Dirty Talk, Kink Exploration, Panties, Consensual Name Calling, Mentions of Rough Sex, Barebacking, Rimming, Fooling Around in Public, Masturbation, Awkward Sex Chapters: 3/3 Word Count: 113,574 Heralded as the next Neil Gaiman, Louis Tomlinson does not appreciate being told that his very serious novel is in dire need of a PR boost. Even worse, that it comes in the form of a joint book tour with the UK’s #1 online romance-writing sensation Marcel Styles. Already turbulent at best, their partnership takes a drastic turn when, overly stressed about his looming deadline, Marcel accidentally blurts out a secret: though he’s famed for his scorching hot literary love scenes, he is, actually, a virgin.
Convinced that the only way to rid himself of writer’s block is to gain some experience, Marcel asks Louis, author-to-author, to sleep with him – for Science. And of course Louis agrees because, well, what on Earth could possibly go wrong?
Or, a lesson in romance that proves that sometimes the best love stories aren’t always by the book.

(7/30/26) The Red Cross just declared the second US blood crisis in its history.
Summer sees both a drop off in donations and, at least for our trauma center, a spike in traumas. Trauma centers across the US are in danger of running out of blood for our trauma patients TODAY, which is very scary but, unlike much of the other scary national news coming across our screens these days, is something you can help fix immediately and directly.
We need ASAP donations of blood, for people to spread the word, and for manager types to help facilitate others' donations. All blood types are needed, but universal donor blood (type O) is especially dire.
Useful notes and reminders from the reblogs:
Many things that previously made people ineligible have been rolled back. If you previously thought you were ineligible, please consider checking current guidelines!
While O- is the most dire need as it can be safely given to anyone in an emergency, all types are needed! Our emergent release blood is being pulled for patients who have a high chance of death if they don't get blood within the hour. Once they're stabilized, they can have their type confirmed and get blood of a specific, matching type released to them so that O- can go to the patients who need it most.
Canada is also in a blood shortage, not just the US. Even if you're not in the USA or Canada, maybe check locally, especially if it's summer where you are.

So I realized that I managed to miss all of Harry in Brazil 🥴 Not to sound uncultured (I totally am, I’m an ignorant American 😭), but can someone explain the fan thing? I saw that he had one, and it seems to hold significance that I am unfortunately unaware of.
it’s called ‘clacking’ and it’s tightly tied to drag culture & queer culture 🥰
I have linked and explained a bit more what it is here, when Harry was first taught by the crowd in São Paulo at Night 2 (he borrowed a white fan from someone in the audience) and during Night 4, he then had brought his very own rainbow coloured fan and clacked proudly 🥰🪭🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ with the audience and towards his band a few times.
Another day on here, another opportunity to deploy this:
I was a latecomer to the 1D party but I love being here on days like today watching all of you be so happy and joyful together.
Reblog and share in the tags how old you were when One Direction was formed and how old you were when you joined the fandom/got into them and their music
Happy sixteen years!
Harry’s show tonight, 21 July 2026, in São Paulo has been cancelled
(source — thank you Gina @twopoppies 💕)
from personal experience that is a typical wording you use when the show is cancelled over ticket sales that have not met expectations and you don’t want to make a loss, but you also don’t want to be transparent about that. MANY tour promoters (and especially Live Nation!) do that.
i personally do not think Harry is sick, but we will see on Friday, 24 July 2026, a) how Harry is doing and b) see in videos how full the show is. in my update post about Harry’s tour ticket sales here you can see that all other shows of his tour are very well sold, if not sold out completely, but for the São Paulo shows I couldn’t really make an estimation, other than at least half of the sections (including the outer pit) not being sold out, yet. if H is coughing on Friday, please keep in mind that he has been coughing at ALL of his shows and has been using a spray for his throat during some shows. (i’ve seen it with my own eyes in Amsterdam.)
a supposed insider who says they work at the production, gave more insight, but as always I recommend taking it with a big grain of salt:

Adding @i-need-a-cure tags because I thought the same
Whereas, when he had to cancel in November 2022:
I really hope people who can make it on Friday will be able to get tickets, and not more expensive than what that had paid for today’s show since they don’t offer the possibility to exchange

‘capitalism works’ factoid actually untrue. the 62 people who own half the world’s wealth are outliers and should be eaten.
Absolutely nuts how they made up a number for this satire post and the correction is that reality is *more absurd* than the number they chose
no i’m afraid it’s even worse than that. 62 was correct in 2016 when the original post was made.
I think the 2 things are not the same.
I understand the first one as: you draw a line in the middle of world’s total wealth and there are 62 people on one side and the rest of Earth’s population on the other.
Whereas the second is: you take the poorest half of world’s population and there are 8 people who possess the same amount of wealth, but there is still the other half minus those 8 people in between, not the poorest and not the richest.
So you can’t really compare and say it worsened or not, but in any case that’s deeply unfair.
