The last week has been so ridiculous even the satirists can’t take it any more
the fucking timestamp
Happy tenth birthday to this post which will apparently haunt my notifications for all eternity.
It’s about Brexit, by the way. The timestamp is a week post-referendum. Newsthump is UK-based and I myself am scottish. And yes, things have 100% got worse since then, but personally I regard the referendum as the point at which we entered the Clownshoes Timeline.
Finally finished this! sorry for the space between teasing and sharing.
one of my favorite drawings I've ever done. I've rarely try to do any scenes like this and even rarer to put plants in a drawing. but I'm a plant parent now so I've been finding it super fun. So plants from here on out ha.
Anyways, enjoy! Thanks for viewing!
based off this text post lul :]
imagine, lulu,
now imagine them with burger.
except you don't need to imagine it. this is real.
The new Odyssey adaptation has inevitably gotten people talking about a Muppet version of it, and they’re frequently suggesting Kermit as Odysseus, Miss Piggy as Penelope.
I’m sorry but that’s thinking way too small, hear me out:
We need to have Miss Piggy as Odysseus, and Kermit as Penelope.
Think about it… who’s the more fickle, prideful, warlike one in that relationship? Who is absolutely ready to go ham, at a moment’s notice?
It ain’t Kermit
Miss Piggy tied to the mast while Statler and Waldorf heckle her from the sea
But who is the single human cast member in this tale? Who gets to put in an Oscar-worthy performance alongside the Muppets and what role are they to play?
There’s no single human, everyone is a Muppet except for one scene. Circe, played by Janice, turns Odysseus’s crew into humans who still behave animalistic and are all played by Academy Award winning actors.
you know, i don't remember

people will say “they’re only friends” and then show me two people who would crawl through broken glass to hear the other laugh once. two people who have memorized each other’s coffee orders, fears, childhood stories, and emergency contacts. two people who would haunt each other’s houses as ghosts. be serious.
Just an FYI—the original intention of this post was to challenge the way people say only friends, as though friendship is somehow lesser than other forms of love. As if being deeply known, cherished, and chosen by another person could ever be a small thing. Normalize profound platonic love. Some of the most fulfilling, transformative, and enduring relationships we will ever have are friendships. 🫶🏼

i have been noticing recently that people younger than me are too sensitive, while people older than me are not sensitive enough. which, if i'm correct, should be taken as a sign that the total reality penetration vortex is operating as intended -- within as few as five or six generations we may very well be producing babies who can directly perceive the wound at the heart of the world
re: that discussion about 'brain damage' - what is your stance on the impact of technology usage on children's development and their parents' role in (preventing?) that?
its role in growth and learning (terminology I prefer to "development" for reasons I won't go into) is, in my view, totally individual and extremely context dependent.
and I know that's kinda frustrating as an answer but the truth is anyone who says they can take a huge complicated aspect of the human condition and an equally complicated technology and collapse their relationship to a simple cause and effect statement is...probably selling something.
computers and phones are like other technologies in your house. I mean the things you might not even think of as "technologies". knives are a technology. fire is a technology. you need them both to cook dinner. they can also kill you. ideally you don't introduce your kid to fire by tossing them a pile of matches and saying "good luck" but also ideally you do not act like they're going to be better off never encountering fire without you hovering over their shoulder.
what you probably want to do is something along the lines of "let me show you how the stove works so you can start using it to cook if you want to"
if you study a class of 12-year-olds and their relationships with fire you're going to get a huge range of results. you'll have the outdoorsy kids who can build and light a perfect campfire. the ones who are scared of the candles on their own birthday cakes. the one kinda scary kid who likes to melt their toys. the one who started learning how to weld last year and is perfectly comfortable working with a thing hotter than the surface of the sun.
and parental input is only one component of how any of those kids ended up where they are.
parents have to get comfortable with the idea of doing their best to support their kids developing healthy relationships with technology - all kinds of technologies - while also accepting that their kids are whole people who are shaped by things beyond their control and have the right to make personal decisions they don't like.
you don't get to decide if your kid takes up juggling torches at age 16, but when they're 8 and ask you how the barbeque lighter works, you do get to decide whether you treat it like a normal tool they can master or a scary death machine they should be ashamed of wanting to touch.

ive only had Mail for 5 minutes but if something happens to them i will kill both committees and then myself
( @justcakethanks CHECK THIS OUTTT WE GOT THE POSTMAN POSTERIDIAN)
Mail is NEVER late to delivery,,
Inspired by @edenisquiet and their Eridian Hating Committee. Not a whole lot I can do with these guys after this probably lol.
i knew this would come eventually. Amaze amaze amaze 👎🏾
I don't understand why "Adrian doesn't like Grace at first" is as popular as it is on fanfics.
Imagine for a second you are Adrian surname The Eridian. Your spouse has been missing and presumed dead for around a decade, and suddenly one day an alien spaceship comes into orbit. And you cheer "Yay alien species have realized we have the same problem and have come to either give us a solution or join or efforts, too bad my mate is still gone."
Except he is not actually gone, because the eridian equivalent of a carebear decided to save them. And he doesn't want anything in return, in fact he is well aware that he might die A PAINFUL SLOW DEATH, shortly after fighting just to get the love of your life back to you. But it's ok :) because Rocky (yes he gave them a silly name) is my best friend! Oh- Are you ok-
No, Rocky is first and foremost a Grace hater (affectionate)
