Hey, remember back in 2016 when there was a lot of cynicism on social media about how both the Democrats and the Republicans were hopelessly corrupt?
Remember how a lot of that turned out to come from Russian psy-ops designed to discourage left-leaning people from voting?
Because I do.
Self-reblogging because I’m seeing both a lot of cynicism about Democrats and a bit of “Biden’s got this sewn up, no need to bother voting” on my socials lately.
Anyone who tells you you shouldn’t vote does not have your best interests at heart.

Wow its actually coming from people that both the democratic and republican policies would harm. There’s no need to bother voting for Biden or Trump because they’re both white supremacists, they’re rapists and racists. Biden won’t ban fracking and he’s only proposed the tiniest fraction you could of the Green New Deal. Both will not end ICE. Neither support Medicare for all.
History has shown time and time again that incremental change and advocating for so does not create change. Here is an article from W.E.B. Dubois in 1956 on why voting did not matter then to him. Here is a zine from an Indigenous person who shared why voting for a lesser of two evils does not exist for some groups. Check out http://www.indigenousaction.org/ and read works by Black Panthers (yes I realize that Angela Davis has endorsed Biden, but you can not take this endorsement alone without reading any of her and her peers work which say otherwise).
Anyone who advocates for voting and voting alone does not have your best interests at heart. They benefit through the idea that ignorance is bliss. Educate yourself and those around you. Join local organizations or educate until you can create your own. Most people with the above arguments’ advocacy starts and ends on election day and with instagramable infographics. Also, stop being xenophobic against Russians.
