the most on-brand way to do a sequel to the dnd movie would be to have a totally different storyline, possibly even in a completely different world, with all-new characters….but keep the exact same cast. some of them playing Basically The Same Character As Last Time But In A Hat and With a New Voice, and some of them just going the TOTAL opposite direction. rege jean page still plays the overpowered dmpc chris pine’s character has sexual tension with. hugh grant still does the most. everyone still has intelligence as a dump stat.

Käärijä wanted to prove that finland can win with a song in finnish language. and it really could have happened. he had a huge chance to prove how important performing in native language is to finland and to the rest of europe. instead they made boring plain pop song IN ENGLISH won. crime

Seriously. The 40-hour work week was codified in 1940, before computers did anything. Per-hour productivity has more than quadrupled since then, but we’re working even harder, to live not all that much better. It’s absurd.

No, it’s not absurd, it’s deliberate. The ruling class wants us to work as hard as possible, so they have profits to skim and pile up.

I’ll reblog this every time I see it: Before the 40 hour work week, we had the 80 hour work week, the 100 hour work week. What got us 40 hours? Unions. Want a work week that reflects productivity levels? Unions. Want UBI? Unions.

Imagine a world where we work 20 hours/week and it's more than enough and more jobs are created because of it. Better yet: a world where money is not an issue, basic income for everyone and you get to actually live and pursue your passions without pressure. I'd love that.

The thing that makes me sad about the Eurovision results is that Loreen’s victory lacks everything that makes a Eurovision victory great:

A lesser known artist catapulted into stardom? She’s been internationally known for years.

Their country getting a chance to host after never/rarely doing so before? Sweden’s had it 6 times already.

An underdog taking the crown by being an audience pleaser? She was the bookies’ favourite from the start.

Eurovision being one of the biggest, most exciting things they’ve ever done? She’s done it all before.

None of these things are personally Loreen’s fault, and I actually feel bad for her that this win will be remembered as one that the public clearly wanted to give to someone else. But it does all feel extra slimy and calculated on Sweden’s part, especially given the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s Waterloo just happening to be next year. It all feels very hollow.
