Overland Park is one of America’s happiest cities, WalletHub says

Good news, Overland Park residents: Your city is among America’s happiest, according to a new study by WalletHub.

Why not down town? Better naps!

Napping must be a habit for many Overland Park residents, because the city ranked No. 1 for highest adequate sleep rate. And apparently being well rested does wonders for relationships, because Overland Park also made the top five for lowest separation and divorce rate.

Kansas City didn’t fare as well — the City of Fountains is No. 80 on WalletHub’s list, so it’s about halfway between “most happy” and “least happy.” At least it’s ahead of Wichita (94), Springfield, Mo. (96) and St. Louis (137). Sorry, Detroiters: At No. 150, the Motor City is the “least happy” on the list. Then again, Detroit is known for being one of America’s greatest comeback cities, so that could change in 2018.

“We didn’t invent BBQ, but we perfected it.”

So far, we’ve visited Gates, RJs, CharBar, and Joe’s. Joe’s has stood out with the ribs and brisket. RJs with smoked wings, CharBar with burnt ends. Gates we need to revisit earlier in the day, admittedly it was right before closing.

The lot at Joe’s has been insane every time I drive by. While I can imagine they got a shot of people lined up by luck, I think it may be pretty typical of Joe’s. Definitely a big favorite for a lot of reasons.

Last Week: Leni Vision by Capture by GoPro

I’m very late to the GoPro game so I’m constantly “this is the future” in awe of the features, like the app allowing me to preview and capture photos from my phone. I have extremely shakey hands and should have invested in a remote ages ago. However to take this shot, the GoPro is on a collapsed selfie stick, tucked into my jacket. True Leni Vision.

Last Week: My GoPro HERO5 Black arrived. Ran one of my first shots through the Small Planet app and am very pleased. I’ve been playing with older photos in the apps, but this is the first time I intentionally took a photo to run through the app. 

If you take a photo of a sign centered you can get the tiny planet wrap around effect. The longer the sign runs along the horizon, the more complete the circle, or small planet will be. 

This could be very useful for businesses to come up with new image content to share online. Aside from using the Small Planet app’s feature for importing the Google Map Street view, spicing up regular photos to share online can break up the ‘same old’ photo share routine.

Last Week: Light Play

I received the Maxah LED Light in my NEPA BlogCon bag a few months ago. Being nomadic, I’ve kept it in my bag, as opposed to mounted. It’s phenomenal for even, non intrusive lighting. I typically use my Photojojo pocket spotlight flash for phones but it’s extremely annoying for human subjects and creates even more glare on close objects. I can’t find the original model of my bar on sale, but there’s a rechargeable version that is probably better in the long run.
