If I allow myself, I'd be noodling this thing to death. So yay for deadlines? Anyways, I hope it's obvious they're cuddling on Appa. He does look cozy to nap on so long as he doesn't turn over in his sleep. >_<

Everything in Peeta’s background is associated with noise in some way . His mother yelling, the bustle of a bakery, the sounds of wrestling someone, his own footsteps, his lies and ability to speak his way out of everything.

Then there’s Katniss who remembers the silence of her mother’s absence, the disappearance of music, only finding solace in being silent in the forest, not really speaking unless she has to.

And that makes the following line so special:

So after, when he whispers “You love me. Real or not real?”

They’ve found their little comfy middle ground. They don’t need to talk and perform for others. They don’t need to be silent to survive. Just a quiet equilibrium born from their love.

Ever since I was a child, I’ve always been told I look like my mother. I absolutely loved it. Hearing the phrase “you look like your mom” really did stroke my ego. In my eyes, my mother is the beautiful and intelligent woman. Since I am here carbon copy, I too must be just as pretty and smart as her. However, now that I am older, I don’t know whether it’s a blessing or a curse. In time to come, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the idea of looking in a mirror and seeing her ghost staring back at me

Cultural Anatomy: Kyoshi Islanders Fashion Pt. 1 - Clothing

One of my favorite touches regarding Kyoshi Island is the Ainu influence. The Ainu (アイヌ) are an East Asian ethnic group indigenous to Hokkaido (the northernmost island of Japan) and the Eastern Russian islands of Sakhalin and Kuril. Since Kyoshi Island exists in close proximity to the Southern Water Tribe, having their inspiration be the Ainu, whose islands are in close proximity to the Yupik and Inupiat peoples of the Bering Strait, is a fantastic parallel.

Anyways, the first characteristic of Kyoshi Island fashion that stands out to the audience is the predominance of the color blue. The color blue is actually closely associated with the Ainu people, due to natural indigo (aizome/藍染め) being one of the most common and resilient traditional dyes in Japan.

Another aspect of Kyoshi Island fashion that’s very Ainu are the designs on their clothes. Traditional Ainu decorations favor bold, geometric shapes along the openings of the clothing. These decorations were seen as charms that warded off evil spirits and protected the wearer, hence why the the patterns appeared on areas of the clothing considered vulnerable: Collars, cuffs, hems and backs. While their intricacy has been greatly simplified for animation purposes, Kyoshi Island clothing still possesses boxy patterns very reminiscent of Ainu designs. From a practical standpoint, adding embroidery and applique to the areas most vulnerable to wear and tear extends the life of a garment, in addition to adding aesthetic appeal.

Finally, compared to the wide, draping sleeves of Japanese kimono, the sleeves of Ainu robes (attush/蝦夷袍) are relatively narrow. A sash or cord is used to hold the attush in place. These robes are often worn over a fitted, long-sleeve undershirt. You can see examples of the shirts peeking out from under the attush sleeves here and here. These undergarments provided thermal insulation and further protection from the cold. The robes of the Kyoshi Islanders share all these qualities, right down to the fitted undergarments!
