My mom is currently on a call with someone who is having an abortion. Why is she having an abortion?
Not because she wants one. In fact, she's devastated and scared because she knows that she's going to kill the baby.
But her boyfriend isn't giving her a choice. He's making her choose between him and the baby. He's promising that he loves her, but also assuring her that he'll leave her the minute the baby is born.
A while ago, she told him that she was putting her foot down.
So he pretended to comply, later called her, and then tricked her into getting on a facetime with a Planned Parenthood member. Both of them began drilling into her all the reasons that she cannot keep this baby (finances, mentally/physically draining, etc) and basically coerced her into scheduling an appointment to kill the baby. And her boyfriend is determined to make sure that she attends it.
She's talking to my mom because she doesn't know where to turn.
Everything's been finalized. She feels like it's far out of her hands.
She's not a Catholic or a Christian. She's surrounded by Abortion activists. By people who keep telling her that this is for the best. She's not in a good place to care for the baby anyway. It's not even a baby yet. No one is being harmed. She'll be fine.
She's scared and stuck in grief for something that hasn't happened yet. She doesn't want to lose her baby. She doesn't want to lose him.
My mom is trying to help her through it. She's giving her options and ideas, places to get cheap furniture and charities who will assist her. She has asked me not to be present because it's a private matter between them, so I don't know more than clips of brief discussion.
But I know my mom is doing more for her than anyone else.
Do not tell me that abortions are all about Women's Rights.
It's her right to keep this baby.
So why is my mom the only one who's respecting that?
yeah winter depression but what about summer depression? What about the sunlight beating down on you like an accusation, revealing how filthy you truly are? The heat squeezing you like a vice until you confess your sins. The sounds of bugs and birds are the sounds of the things that will eat you, corpse that you are, without a moment's notice. When you've been in the dark so long the light is blinding and you can't bear to open your eyes, and all you want is to retreat again.
My controversial belief is that most people are some level of pro life and that's why it's possible to find pro life themes in almost everything
You believe that disabled people are valuable human beings who don't deserve to be killed? That's pro life
You think the death penalty is abhorrent and should be abolished? That's pro life too
You don't support people committing suicide? Uh huh, pro life
I could keep going, because being pro life is (at least to me) believing that everyone deserves love and respect and care and that no one should be killed

The only business any government organ could possibly have with this is with whether or not Mormonism is sociologically Christian, which it clearly is. There's no argument for Mormons not being Christian that isn't a per-se theological one. Those theological arguments are often pretty good ones, but the Pentagon absolutely should not be attempting to make them, or paying attention to them at all.
If the Pentagon is listening to theological arguments, maybe we can get them to buy into Just War theory
We can only hope.

It’s funny but incredibly telling how entitled/ignorant/insensitive some of these people are… idk if it’s an education gap or purposeful ignorance.
The really bewildering thing to me is that I remember when you needed to get up and pull a dictionary off the shelf, or visit a library to look up the facts you needed. Now people have all kinds of information literally at their fingertips and they can’t be bothered to use it.

. . . And to think I used to listen to propaganda that it was just about the dumb corporations turning everything rainbow and queer people 'forcing their beliefs' on everyone. Oh my gosh that is such a narcissistic abuser style narrative to push towards people. It sounds so familiar to what they say to victims of abuse (It's hard to explain but if you know, you know).
Which, to be fair, LGBTQ+ people are more likely to be abused and mistreated. Or should I say other people are more likely to abuse and mistreat them. The language around victims and oppressed people, including the way the statistics are framed, too often centers around them (as if it's their fault), rather than the people perpetuating their suffering.
I can almost hear 'here we go again with the virtue signaling,' but this is an aspect that genuinely needs to be understood and could help a lot of people, both who don't yet understand that there are different perspectives from what the propaganda portrays, and those who are negatively affected in everyday life as a result of the propaganda being acted out.
Yes yes i know love is love. But they are still killing CHILDREN. over this.
I don't care if you don't agree with 'their lifestyle,' they need your compassion and protection!
