Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
These may be my last words or the last time I write a post, so I will not forgive anyone who sees this post and does not support me with a single word and ignores me.
I write these words in great pain, my eyes brimming with tears. I can no longer bear this situation. I am exhausted by hunger, severe anemia, my father's cancer, and the exorbitant cost of the medications he needs.
All I care about is getting rid of the cancer my father is suffering from and the constant pain. Please help me buy his medication so his body can recover and he can resume his life, and to save me, my entire family, and my young niece who is suffering from malnutrition and anemia.
Please donate if you can. Your donation will enable me to buy medicine for my father, and it will save him, save me, and save my whole family. Our lives are at stake from hunger, disease, and anemia, and it will end the constant pain. Gofundme
Nader's father needs pain relief. Donate what you can. This is campaign number 4 on the @gazavetters account. I personally assure you that your donations will go directly to Nader, his family, and his ailing father.
Friends, I beg you to help us and donate. You don't know how we will live if this aid stops. My family is large; we are nine people in this family, and we all depend on this aid to survive. Please, please don't hesitate to donate. Please donate now. We need 680 euros to reach 6000. Please, please donate.
Dear friends, we still need 640 euros. Please continue donating. One person has already donated; please match their donation and give what you can. Please.

"Brennan is, by design, only showing us parts of the elephant. We're all like, feeling the tail and going, 'It's a snake! It's a snake!' But we can't see the whole animal yet."
Very good point from Liam. It is honestly very interesting how everyone feels differently about Thjazi and the willingness to jump to conclusions and/or be open to being wrong is also so different around the couches.
We already have Brennan's statements from Cooldown about Thazi, which are very neutral for the most part. We know that Thjazi knew there would be a cost and that he had decided some of it was an acceptable cost. We do not know what he viewed as acceptable. And we also know that while he may have expected to get out of the execution, there was ultimately something that made him choose to not even try to escape. Thjazi's life was also an acceptable cost, in his mind. Who was he trying to make the world a better place for if he knew that his life was also an acceptable cost to forward the cause?
It is very clear that a majority of the people at the table have complicated relationships with Thjazi, not good relationships. Very few were on the bad end of the spectrum.
"Tumblr is my bedroom" this "tumblr is a pinboard" that
Tumblr is an apartment complex with thin walls and every so often you just have to listen to your neighbors say the most deranged shit imaginable

It's always hard reading about the violence committed to steal America, but the buffalo is always like... That's some inhuman shit. Everyone is burning in hell for that one. Wdym there were thirty to sixty MILLION buffalo in 1800, and by 1900 there were only 300 left. THREE HUNDRED. Do you know, can you fathom the amount of purposeful cruelty required to kill NINETY NINE PERCENT of a population of an animal, just to spite and murder the living Native people who existed and thrived with them? All this, for White Power and Entitlement?? Sickening.
People leaving comments on my posts about Indigenous knowledge as a science and its relationship with Western science like, "I know Indigenous knowledge is extremely valuable and important, but I only trust verified science." You're just racist. I'm not going to be polite.
Today, many scientists acknowledge the troubling attitudes that have long plagued research projects in Indigenous communities [...] But some Indigenous groups feel that despite such well-intentioned initiatives, their inclusion in research is only a token gesture to satisfy a funding agency.
That's you. You only want tokens for optics. You can't say, "I respect Indigenous knowledge but—" No, you don't respect Indigenous knowledge. Western science is not the only "real" science and your attempts to argue otherwise are racist. There is no argument.
It's like I'm talking to a wall. All the time when I discuss my work as a wildlife & fisheries biologist, I discuss what I have learned directly from Indigenous people in my everyday work yet it's so clear that so many people hear that and think I'm bringing it up for what reason? To appear somehow progressive?
Has everyone just believed this whole time that I bring it up for optics?
Everyone nods, "of course he mentions Indigenous people," because they believe it would simply look bad for me if I didn't.
In fact Indigenous knowledge is a constant topic of conversation and point of reference when I discuss my work as a scientist who uses Western science because my work is useless without it.
I work with endangered species which are endangered solely due to continual colonial violence against people and the land. I can follow the Western scientific method all I want and publish 100 papers on how to fix salmon populations—and get nowhere without Indigenous knowledge and sovereignty.
Indigenous knowledge is not an afterthought to reference as back up to Western science. Believe it or not, we can and should lead any number of scientific projects with Indigenous knowledge.
You need to change how you regard Indigenous knowledge on a fundamental level.
people hate it when i say "black people getting cancer is racist" but im literally fucking right because systemic racism has led to chemical dumping being acceptable in black/brown neighborhoods and black people have higher rates of cancer as a result
A lifesaving injection given at birth to prevent severe bleeding has become collateral damage of the anti-vaccine movement.
talk to your coworkers about this. remember that the "taking advice from everyone except the experts" thing cuts both ways. you can be the non-expert guy at work who isnt an expert and gives someone advice they decide to follow based on vibes, but your advice can be the right advice instead. this is something we can all do.
the vitamin k shot has zero side effects, it is literally just a vitamin that does nothing except prevent babies from bleeding to death internally. its one of those things that does absolutely nothing except what it's supposed to do, is cheap, and has drastically reduced infant mortality this century and the last
white europeans calling race an "american construct" when their ancestors invented it to justify chattel slavery always makes me feel insane
you european crackers should be focused on making amends with the saami/roma/indigenous communities in your countries instead of fixing your mouths to be racist to brown/black americans
wow i really like this gerard keay guy i hope nothing horrible happens to him
One-hundred-seventy-nine years ago, Douglass told the world that “killing a slave, or any [Black] person, in Talbot County, Maryland, is not treated as a crime, either by the courts or the community”. Two years ago, a bipartisan Senate report found that the Justice Department hadn’t even recorded the deaths of at least 990 inmates. A 2023 Marshall Project investigation discovered that New York State does not fire 90% of guards who “brutalize” prisoners. Among the list of injuries caused by those guards are “Shattered teeth,” “Punctured lungs,” and “Broken bones”. In at least three cases of brutality where prisoners died, the officers involved weren’t even disciplined.
One-hundred-seventy-nine years ago, Douglass wrote about handing the profits of his labor over to Thomas Auld. Four months ago, almost one thousand inmates fought the California wildfires. They were paid ten dollars and twenty-four cents a day, plus a dollar an hour in emergencies. If we assume they worked twenty four emergency hours in a day, their hourly rate would be less than two dollars. Their hourly pay is less than the cost of a soda. And that rate is pretty high for an inmate – the average pay for a US inmate is between thirteen and fifty two cents an hour, if they’re paid at all. In Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas, unless you work for a state corporation, the average maximum hourly wage is zero dollars zero cents. Nothing.
One-hundred-seventy-nine years have passed, and we still have not put an end to unpaid forced captive labor – slavery by another name.

One time I told my gastroenterologist that I thought the new immunosuppressant I was prescribed for my ulcerative colitis was causing my hair to fall out. I had not been warned that hair thinning was a potential side effect of the medication so I was startled and when I began shedding like a husky, not because I’m vain but because it is alarming when you suddenly begin losing significant amounts of hair with no cause you’re aware of. It took some googling to find out it was a somewhat common side effect of my new medication.
I casually informed my gastro about this phenomenon near the end of our next appointment because I hadn’t been informed that was something that could happen and I thought it might be important to note, possibly a sign of a deeper problem with the way my body was reacting to the medication or sometime like that. Instead of responding with ‘That happens sometimes.’ or even ‘Huh. Weird. Didn’t know it could do that.’ he turned around and looked at me and said in the most condescending and judgmental voice imaginable “Your colon is more important than your hair.”
Which is a really funny one liner out of context and if he had said it with any other expression and tone, I might have laughed. But he was so fucking serious. I was taken aback and immediately tried to explain I just thought it might be of medical relevance. Like, yes, I fucking know my colon is more important than my hair and it seemed like this man was prematurely annoyed with me and (I assume) he thought I was going to try to switch treatments for my severe ulcerative colitis because my fucking hair was falling out. Far from the cruelest thing a medical professional has ever said to me, not egregious enough to make me feel the need to comment on it or try to switch providers, just demoralizing in a way that felt like a branding. I left the appointment feeling so fucking small. I thought, oh, he thinks I’m stupid and vain. This doctor, who has seen me at my most vulnerable and heard me have to describe shitting blood so much I needed iron infusions for the anemia, this man who has shoved a camera up my ass on multiple occasions thinks I am a vapid dumbass who would value my hair over not being in fucking pain and incontinent and sick and bleeding.
Anyway, being chronically ill and always dependent on the healthcare system and medical professionals is death by a thousand paper cuts mentally. No dignity, attempting to perform being polite and genteel and not hysterical or emotional or troublesome while also being in severe pain, just so you will be taken seriously. And you can do your absolute best and still be put in the ‘stupid and annoying’ box while fighting a serious illness.
wait a minute i was just looking at an unrelated post and realized tumblr directly ripped off the new button format on mobile from twitter. like not just the order but down to the change in the design of the share button.
and they got rid of the notes, one of the core tumblr features, in favor of breaking it down by interaction type. just like twitter.
and now that i think about it the new pop up menu when you hit the reblog button is kinda like the menu that popped on twitter when you retweeted something…
ya’ll i think they are trying to make tumblr the new twitter.
oh and of course they added my least favorite feature from reddit: if you take a screenshot you immediately get a popup begging you to share the post from within the app (so they can harvest the data).
i have a suggestion
