I kinda like the idea of jax becoming a cautionary tale of what happens when you let dysphoria and self hatred eat you alive. I've met so many of him IRL in my own circles. I think people need to hear it. I need more characters who eat themselves alive and actually have to suffer the consequences of not choosing to be better. It's pretty refreshing to see a different and nuanced take on dysphoria and how it doesn't always manifest the way you would expect.

I just don't get any sort of hope from the ending because there's no implication that abstraction can be fixed :( jax is just doomed forever

The way I've seen it, there's two readings of the finale, and it's on whether or not the abstractions can be fixed.

First reading is the optimistic one: Pomni was getting through to Jax, she only got kicked out because of the flashbang. Now that they're not just sticking the abstractions in a cellar, now that they have Jax in a comfortable and enclosed space to calm down and figure things out, it's not impossible she will pull through once she realizes she is deserving of love. And also when she drinks enough respecting women juice to realize that she is a woman and thus she has to respect herself

Second reading is the one of abstractions being irreversible, which the narrative does imply quite a bit, down to Jax saying "there's no going back from this." And it's that Jax is a tragedy, but her human self does not have to be. Jax repressed herself to death/insanity because she could not reconcile her own gender with her perception of the world NOR could she accept that even as a terrible person she was still deserving of a future, of the ability to grow and change, and the ability to be loved. She died regretting that she'd driven all her friends away and made the world worse for so many people. But Leeroy is still out there. In the real world, Leeroy accepted help and is figuring herself out. She has a job and a life and is visiting a queer bar! [If you look at the newspaper article, the Triangle is 100% confirmed a queer bar] In one world, Jax was trapped and fell into a horrible coping mechanism that hurt others and herself, and it killed her. In the real world, Leeroy was offered help and took it, and it's what saved her. And even with the idea of losing Jax, there is still a future for Leeroy, and that's where the hope comes in.

No!!! Why is Jax the focus in episode 9??? Why isn't the focus on the characters whose arcs have already been completed and who have grown as people? Why is the focus on the character whose arc hasn't been completed?? Why does episode 9 focus on the protagonists and the antagonist? Why wasn't the supporting cast given a focus on their already completed arcs? Well, I hate Jax, so I'm not even going to try to understand the character's message and theme. I'm not even going to consider that she might be a closeted trans woman. Clearly, there are no trans women with internalized transphobia and transmisogyny!!! Topics like that make me uncomfortable, so I'll pretend they don't exist!!! Queer rep should only be for flawless characters and perfect victims. And all the characters hate Jax!!! Everyone being visibly sad and upset about Jax's "death" means they hate Jax!!! They all made a huge tent for Jax, and Zooble sacrificed several of his arms because they all HATE Jax. They all forgave Caine, but clearly Jax was the only one who was irredeemable. I just hate one of the protagonists in this story, so I want the author to change the story to my liking instead of me accepting that it's not for me and watching (or doing) something I enjoy. /SARCASM, IRONY, SATIRE (please)

well apparently everyone else hates it. i do not. i love it. i love what they did with it, i love that crowley got to choose, i love that he chose humanity, that he did not choose to run away.

because THAT is who he is. he loves his stars and creations, he loves humanity, he loves the messiness, the good and the bad, the ugly and the beautiful, he loves watching them. he showed jesus all the kingdoms of the world to share that love with someone who he knows already felt it.

in the end, they made that choice together. it's a choice they have made before, over and over, saving humanity over themselves. no god, no angels, no demons, no thousands of years of suffering for all the millions of eternal beings.

personally, i choose to believe that god's last gift to them was integrating them into the fabric of the new universe, so they will find each other in every lifetime. but without anyone watching, without any plan behind it, without senseless suffering, without creating stars just to destroy them.

just the two of them, together, always.

something about all the supernatural characters or anyone not existing anymore in good omens but still being quite similar to their former selves scratched something in my brain. there's the possibility that God remade the universe using the same 'materials', just without the 'magic' which made them still, essentially, themselves (crowley with his astrophysics, aziraphale with his books, and eric and muriel being friends) is so satisfying. I think we're meant to believe that the universe in the ending is sort of our current world and the thought of my friends / people I know finding each other in any parallel universes or previous iterations of ourselves if they ever existed at all is just like a warm hug to me<3

I really loved that. It's the ending I feared the most, but actually really think it's perfect. Who knows how many lifetimes they end up living together. 13 billion years and we just see the one...there have to be so many others. Time after time.

Also, that little finger kiss was just right. It was so gentle and sweet.
