(taps sign) did a quick search around book!omens.
no, crowley is not ooc for choosing free will for everyone over a 'happy' ending for himself, you're just fixating on reinforcing your stereotypical grumpy x sunshine fanfic tropes over what has been said about his character since the beginning of the story. (also no, a human au version of your favorite characters literally getting to get married and grow old together instead of 100% the go versions like you wanted is not 'homophobic' or 'queerbait'. yes, the final product / spade feels a bit rushed and may not be perfectly ending exactly the way you wanted but the story does not only revolve around one ship and it's not fair to assess a piece of work poorly solely based on that)
basically what’s going on with the fandom today
yeah no but why are they lowkey giving the 'do you permit it?' scene?
... y'know what, for a moment when aziraphale and crowley were alone in the bookshop, I thought they were just going to. literally rewrite everything into existence on the blank books and it'll cut a few millennia later when they've gone insane from writing lol and then I'm glad I'm not the actual writer(s). doesn't help that I've got a meme-infested brain though
people on reddit being Big Mad at the GO3 ending. bro you do realize they DID have the chance to romantically live out their lives in the bookstore with no one left to tear them apart since God has said that They had always been watching and They enjoyed them together but AZIRAPHALE AND CROWLEY THEMSELVES actively chose to ask God to recreate the universe as the world is more important to them. not everything has to revolve around a ship y'know, and they still kind of got their happy ending. it was pretty clear God wasn't just going to reinstate the universe the way it is after planning to end it and it wouldn't be a 'happy ending' for either of them knowing that the humans don't have free will under the influences of all those supernatural entities even if everything was unchanged. I think this ending is way more beautiful and meaningful than if they just ditched it all and gave us a vanilla ending where everything just stayed the same -- plus that's what we got that at the end of GO1 anyway.
human crowley being an (astrophysics) academic with nerd glasses that change into shades when there's UV light and dark clothes. oh hell yeah he's just like me fr
where are y'all hearing that the ending of GO3 isn't good like imo that was possibly the best way it could end?? nothing changing at all and them being an angel and demon, retiring in the south downs cottage after all the second coming stuff goes down feels a little bit too fanfic-y and shallow. there's no transformation at all, just God suddenly changing Their mind and going 'ohh yeah right everything's reinstated now!". them just 'becoming' human with the snap of a hand while everything else stays exactly the same doesn't make sense either, it's never mentioned that they actually enjoyed being humans personally. they rely fairly much on their miracles and what they love about humans is just their lifestyles and the people themselves. the world had to be recreated and them with it. the point is that they love humans so much they were willing to risk everything just for the chance for them to exist again, and with complete free will. the point wasn't for them to enjoy life, it was for humans to be able to live. their love for each other stems from their mutual admiration of each other, over how the other is willing to care for other people / creatures so much to the point they would risk even their own lives just for the chance of life for others. note that they literally got the ending crowley claimed he wanted the end of GO2 - an eternity alone in aziraphale's bookstore, with everything else in the world being a complete dumpster fire. and yet their first instinct was still to fix things over their love for the world. that's why they love each other, because of the generosity and the mutual love they share for everything. the relationship did not just come out of nowhere and isn't the main point of the story. it's what gives it life and makes it interesting but it wasn't what drives it. we want them to be happy and that's what they got, albeit with some losses but they kind of had to happen y'know

something about all the supernatural characters or anyone not existing anymore in good omens but still being quite similar to their former selves scratched something in my brain. there's the possibility that God remade the universe using the same 'materials', just without the 'magic' which made them still, essentially, themselves (crowley with his astrophysics, aziraphale with his books, and eric and muriel being friends) is so satisfying. I think we're meant to believe that the universe in the ending is sort of our current world and the thought of my friends / people I know finding each other in any parallel universes or previous iterations of ourselves if they ever existed at all is just like a warm hug to me<3
IS THAT A PORTRAIT OF TERRY PRATCHETT OMG?? THAT WAS LIKE THE BEST EASTER EGG EVER
crowley believing in humans getting free will so much he'd rather have a universe where nothing supernatural ever existed. peak character
