This honestly explains so much
just saw a pigeon doing the puffed up courtship dance thing to another pigeon, and as he was strutting around he suddenly stopped for a split second to do a very brief preen-peck at his own side, then returned to the strutting around. and i surprised myself by instantly losing respect for the male pigeon in that moment, like come on man i appreciate you had an itch or whatever but how is she supposed to feel special when you're getting distracted by bullshit like that? which on reflection i don't endorse, i mean those are pretty harsh dating norms i'm imposing on these pigeons, from a total outsider perspective, for no reason. probably not all girl pigeons are as uptight about that sort of thing as i would apparently be if i was a girl pigeon, maybe she even found it endearing who knows, i don't know her. it's none of my business really. sorry pigeons.

Smaugust 2026 Prompt List
I'm going to take up the mantle and try to create a dragon every day for this year's DragonCon.
It has been a few years since I made a dedicated space for creating dragons and I miss concepting new shapes and ideas. Does that mean I will 100% be able to complete each dragon every day, no. There may be days where my energy is too low and I have to respect the limitations of my body, plus I want to keep this fun and not stress. And if anyone wishes to join in, feel free to use my list. Share your dragons! And remember this is for fun. Stop whenever, or just share the pieces you love, or follow along to see the flight of dragons!

so. they made a new german discowrld essentials edition, with a new covers (which is good because the old ones are real bad)
and they are these manga-like ‘build a picture’ style, which i like
but. oh my god. look at that vimes
this isn’t samuel ‘worked the night-shift for 30 years, runs on coffee and spit, has probably not slept more than 3hours any given day’ vimes
this is the guy who played vimes in murder-mystery play, ‘inspired by real events’. hammy acting, horrible script, ‘Clues’ everywhere, heroic fightscenes, big speaches. Vimes threadened to shut the whole thing down for slander. Sybil probably got an autograph
I’ve been staring at this post for 15 minutes and I can’t stop laughing omg omg I’m seeing stars oh no.
Sybil invited the damn company to the house for their afterparty and you know it.
the actor earnestly explains at one point the fitness routine he undertook to ‘get in character’ for the part of the ‘heroic commander’ while pointing at various melon-sized muscle groups. vimes himself is sitting there shoveling something that’s 98% grease by volume into his face and also staring balefully. he’s never done a pushup in his life. he wouldn’t know a fucking pushup if it spat on him in the street. sybil is doing her absolute best not to laugh and her best is nowhere good enough. the actor, encouraged by the (presumably) admiring male stares and flirtatious female giggles, goes on to describe his hair-care regimen.
Nooooooo oooooonnnnne stops coups like Sam Vimes
Distrusts clues like Sam Vimes
No one lives off of Klatchian brews like Sam Vimes
He’s especially good at in-VEST-igating
My what a guy, that Sam Vimes
This post got better since I saw it last night oh my gods.
Thank you @roachpatrol I don’t think I’ll ever stop laughing now.
Sorry @roachpatrol for hijacking your post but that was just hilarious and i had to draw it….
(It’s hard to draw Vimes out of uniform! But I guess even he doesn’t wear armour 24/7…)
(Young Sam is like ‘daddy, I want an armour like that!’)
I’m sure Angua loved it too
And then she run
Butch Diarmuid is funny because it turns Sola-Ui into a sheltered rich girl from a conservative family who just found out that gay people exist.
Saber who lost to Diarmuid because she just found out that you can be trans AND happy is also funny.
OP your mind
Edit: could you draw it? 🥺👉👈
Eat, my child.
Birds are basically the dinosaurs that managed to “nooo you wouldn’t hurt a cute little baby guy on his birthday” their way out of a mass extinction
Alternatively, birds:

I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
CITY OF ANGELS
Donald Trump has authorized 2,000 National Guard troops to be used against protesters, whose goal was to put a stop to ICE's kidnapping raids.
Being undocumented is not a criminal offense in the United States of America.
Quoting this from the ACLU in an issue brief from 2010, since there are a lot of people in the comments mouthing off about that last sentence:
The act of being present in the United States in violation of the immigration laws is not, standing alone, a crime. While federal immigration law does criminalize some actions that may be related to undocumented presence in the United States, undocumented presence alone is not a violation of federal criminal law. Thus, many believe that the term “illegal alien,” which may suggest a criminal violation, is inaccurate or misleading. Entering the United States without being inspected and admitted, i.e., illegal entry, is a misdemeanor or can be a felony, depending on the circumstances. 8 U.S.C. § 1325. But many undocumented immigrants do not enter the United States illegally. They enter legally but overstay, work without authorization, drop out of school or violate the conditions of their visas in some other way. Current estimates are that approximately 45% of undocumented immigrants did not enter illegally. See Pew Hispanic Center, Modes of Entry for the Unauthorized Migrant Population [May 22, 2006]. Undocumented presence in the United States is only criminally punishable if it occurs after an individual was previously formally removed from the United States and then returned without permission. 8 U.S.C. § 1326 (any individual previously “deported or removed” who “enters, attempts to enter, or is at any time found in” the United States without authorization may be punished by imprisonment up to two years). Mere undocumented presence in the United States alone, however, in the absence of a previous removal order and unauthorized reentry, is not a crime under federal law.
Even now, under Trump's second administration, immigration is a CIVIL matter, not a criminal one. Immigration violations are often at most misdemeanors that should be dealt with peacefully, not with brute force. And if these pro-ICE people are truly so about prosecuting crime, then they should take into account that blowing this kind of civil matter up like this is only wasting time and resources that could be set aside for serious crimes. Quoting the ACLU again --
Use of federal law enforcement resources to target undocumented immigrants for criminal prosecutions may have serious consequences for public safety. The greater focus on criminal violations of immigration laws has led to fewer resources to investigate and prosecute dangerous crimes. At the same time that the Bush administration dramatically increased federal prosecutions for illegal entry and reentry of the United States, the government’s prosecution of gun trafficking, public corruption, organized crime and white-collar crime declined. See Solomon Moore, “Study Shows Sharp Rise in Latino Federal Convicts,” New York Times (Feb. 18, 2009).
Yeah. So these people are advocating the persecution of undocumented immigrants who are less likely to commit crimes than documented Americans (and yes, there is plenty of data from both the FBI and the Census Bureau confirming this) at the expense of dealing with real federal crimes. Why am I not surprised that people like this are aligned with Donald Trump?
