I didn't post anything on my three year anniversary of weight-loss. It was hard because my first two years saw so much physical change, so when I look back and feel like I haven't changed that much since last September I get a little bummed. The one thing I can celebrate is that so many people who lose weight fall back into their old ways and gradually gain it back, and so I'm proud to say that I still haven't had fast food since Sept. '13, haven't drank soda, haven't eaten beef or pork, and haven't missed more than a couple days at the gym a week since I started. Life continues to throw little obstacles here and there that may push me back a little or keep me from breaking through to where I'd eventually like to be, but I'm happy with my mindset and my position I'm in. I'm 250lbs. 180lbs down since sept. 13, About as strong as I've ever been in my life, and happier than I have ever been. So I'm writing a 'W' for last year. I'm about to leave on another 6 week tour of the US and look forward to testing my self control on the road again. My future weight-loss goals are to lose another 30-40lbs of fat and look into filling out loose skin (which is becoming more and more bothersome) with more muscle and continue building cardiovascular endurance and. Thanks to all my friends, family and coworkers for always being there with encouragement and being just an awesome support system. This one feels good, God I hated wearing those plain colored shirts and having to wear two of them. Hated only being able to wear shorts. This day we went to the USC game and I spent the entire drive up to the game worrying I wasn't going to fit in the seat. I always was a nervous wreck about not fitting on a plane or a rollercoaster, or in a chair at a restaurant. Thank you all for allowing me to post updates on here and continue to update you all with my progress and hopefully try to reach out to someone who sees my pictures and maybe wants to join in on the fight to take back their life, because it can be done and the other side is so much greener and happier. (Left pic was 3 years ago today) So thanks to @timehop, I know that this picture on the left was 3 years ago today. Earlier in that day I posted a pic saying that I worked out and was feeling good. Needless to say, I didn't let that feeling stick around too long. I immediately went back to fast food every night. I think back and remember so many times trying to kickstart a change, but it never worked. When did it actually work? When did I let the feeling lead me and keep me on track? Amongst family members and the fear of dying a young man of morbid obesity, it was when I accepted that everything had to change. No halfsys in anymore, no more I worked out so I can eat this, no more well I'm not gonna completely stop drinking soda or eating bad. Change it all. When you change everything to positive, your mentality will change and the ball gets rolling pretty damn fast once you see those first bits of results! Shirt: @moreweightapparel What Does "More Weight" mean to me? On warped tour I met @jakeluhrsabr ,we started lifting together before we really talked. After a couple days of lifting we finally sat down in his bands trailer and talked about life, talked about things we'd been through and that's when he first spoke to me about "More Weight" and what it means to him. The first time he showed us "The Biscuit" shirt (shirt I'm wearing) he talked about making the company and having people post about what More Weight means to them. When Jake was talking about this I knew that one day I would be writing this. In September 2013, I decided to change my life and change the things I was doing. I weighed 430lbs. And was eating myself to death. I decided I was done being this way, I was done not giving myself freedom, happiness, and comfort. I was over just surviving. So, I started jogging and eating healthy. After a couple months of being very diligent and committed I lost 80lbs and I decided to start lifting in a gym. This is where "More Weight" comes into play for me, though I never want to weigh More Weight, I will always strive to be someone who is excited to persevere and continue to lose more weight and to grow my muscles to be able to do more weight. In the tale of Giles Corey it talks about him willingly accepting any more weight or challenge to stand for what he believes. I empathize with this in the fact that regardless of how far I've come in my journey down 175lbs. Posting this as a field-marker of where I am. First time doing deadlifts in a month or so. Starting off light with 4x8 at 225, trying to get that butt lower and exploding. Grip it & rip it. Two weeks ago I hurt my neck lifting, and had to take a week off, such a frustrating week it was all around. But I'm healed up and feeling strong and safe again. With the help of my dude @wilsonian.610 , I have some daily eating, lifting and cardio #'s I plan on hitting everyday for the coming weeks. This is getting fun (and hard as hell) for me! But I feel goooooood! I can't wait to be at 240 and hitting these long awaited goals !! At the end of the day it's My discipline vs my emotion and my weakness. The worst part about looking at these pictures for me, is the fact that there was a time when I looked at these pictures and said "I wish I was only that big, I wish I could go back to that size" these pictures were taking between 2011-12. And in fall of 2013 I weighed about 40-50lbs more than this. I have a vivid memory of being at dsw in September of 2013 after going to dinner with my gf. She wanted to check out some shoes, we were walking around and then I turned and caught myself in the full length mirror and was wide eyed. I had this panic feeling of, holy crap I'm in public and looking like this, so I looked away from the mirror as fast as I could and stayed away from that mirror as we walked around. Horrified with what I saw. My biggest frustration looking back on that time is the fact that, that feeling didn't make me change anything right away, it just made me look away. No change did I make that night or the next day from that horrible memorable experience. I just looked away. It took me 5 years of rapid weight gain until I looked myself in the mirror and kept looking, until my image bled into my veins and sparked a change. Then, when I couldn't look away any longer. I envisioned. I kept staring and staring and working and working. Never will I look away. If you're reading this and kind of empathizes with the experience. Start.
