Fun thing I discovered for my crafty babes: if you’re buying yarn, especially chunky yarn, you can shove smaller items in the yarn and if you’re using self check out, the weight usually isn’t enough to trip the scale. I didn’t grab a basket or anything and got several skeins of yarn and was able to shove a couple nail polishes in them while I walked around and no one ever looked my way ✨

It’s really easy to DNA stuff online. Just email or live chat (i prefer livechat) the company and say that you never received the product, and that you were really excited to get it/disappointed it never came.

For Ämäzön, Wälmärt, Ültä, Tärgët, etc, it’s best to have an active account with actual purchases on there. Even after your scam, buy cheap things once in a while so you can scam again. I’ve done that with Tärgët & have scammed over $400 in items on the same account (with like 10 legitimate purchases).

Høllíster $39- Super easy livechat, got refund within 3 days. Does not refund you for shipping.

Päcsün $36- Livechat, makes you wait an additional week past when it says “Delivered” to contact back and get refund. Doesn’t refund shipping.

Shêïn $85- So easy. Livechat tries to scare you by mentioning “police”, but nothing will actually happen. Refund takes awhile, though.

Mäcÿ’s $68- Hard to actually get to the livechat, person talks in broken English and will assure you that the package will arrive by the end of the day. Makes you contact back the next day and say it still isn’t there. The next day you get your refund almost instantly, though.

nÿx $29- Easiest DNA I’ve ever done. Sent three messages in livechat and then immediately had my refund.

Nïkë $70- Great livechat, got refund within minutes. They say they’re going to do an investigation but just give you the refund, so I’m guessing they don’t really. Doesn’t refund for shipping.

Dr Märtëns $130- Don’t have a live chat and just never responded to my email? It’s been like three weeks and they still have not.

Zümïëz $50- Does not have a livechat (at least I couldn’t find one.) Email takes a few days but refund is easy to get.

Ämërïcän Ëägle $64- Completely easy livechat. Takes a few seconds to get the refund, but makes you wait three days until after the package says delivered to contact.

V/S $105- Took two seconds on the live chat to get refund, they don’t even ask questions.

“Just a PSA from a former employee: Go to town at Urban Outfitters. They do not have cameras throughout the store. The only camera at UO is at the store entrance, and it is not actively monitored (only used as reference later on should an incident occur). There’s no LP in store, though some high volume stores will post a uniformed guard at front. They have a no chase policy for their employees, so even if you’re stopped at the door, they can not pursue you if you simply leave. But possibly the most important thing is their fitting room policy - you can bring as many articles of clothing into the fitting rooms with you as you want - 10, 20, even more. Though they are supposed to count your items before you enter and after you leave, bringing a large number of items in with you makes it extremely difficult to keep track of that number, especially on a busy day. Some employees are also a lot less zealous about counting than others. Some will ask you for the number without actually counting themselves, and some won’t even care about the number at all - YMMV on that. You are only allowed to bring clothing into the fitting room, so if you’re trying to bring jewelry, accessories, underwear, gadgets or whatever into the room with you, make sure they’re concealed first. I suggest casing the fitting room on a busy day to see how they’re handling it. As for security tags, all UO stores use the same smooth black clamshell magnetic tags which are easily removed by a strong magnet. They typically only tag items $20 and over, but YMMV on that as well. Some stores have special tags for sunglasses which can also be removed with a magnet. They also carry a number of expensive electronic items, such as cameras, which are spider wrapped. If you notice that the fitting room people aren’t checking very thoroughly, you can hide one of these items under a pile of clothing, take it into the fitting room, and work off the spider wrap. Note that they may also soft tag some items such as sock or underwear which don’t have hard tags, so always check the packaging for those (soft tags will always be in a place that you can find them, as they are only added to items after they arrive at the store). And as for the employees themselves, most of them are people under 30 only hired to fit a certain aesthetic. They don’t receive LP training and are told to give exceptional customer service to suspected shoplifters, so if anyone is paying extra attention to you, you might have given yourself away. The code terms used on radio for shoplifters is Mr. and Mrs. Nick, so if you hear that they definitely know. For the most part they are understaffed. If you can conceal something out of the line of sight of an employee, you’re golden, since again - no cameras.” – xcepter

I used to work at 3xpr3ss, and it’s literally so common for ppl to lift, and we’re not allowed to do anything about it.

• No one in the back is watching cameras, but we do have LP. However, they don’t work in the stores and I’ve never actually seen them or interacted with them. Mainly they are looking for internal theft.

• No RFIDs as far as my knowledge, only tags that beep

• We’re not allowed to accuse, chase, or call security on you. Not even allowed to use recovery phrases (like “this necklace would go great with that shirt in your bag”) One time a lady told me she saw a woman concealing in a stroller, and the most my manager did was stand around that area and pretend to fix merchandise

• Anytime we’re sus, our managers just tell us to fix merchandise near them and kinda scare them off that way

• Concealing in fitting rooms is stupid easy. In our location we didn’t count. Also, it was typically only one person working the fitting rooms, and we have to go back and forth between letting people in rooms and doing go-backs. Also, during weekdays when it’s dead, we don’t have anyone working fitting rooms normally, and we like to keep the doors unlocked and propped open so we don’t have to leave the cashier area to let ppl in. Easy to go in and out without ever being detected.

• When we find sensors that were obviously left by lifters, we have to put write it down on this log just saying where and when we found them, but tbh most associates don’t know that they have to do this lol and I don’t think anyone’s ever done anything more with that log.

• You can return stuff without receipts, we’ll just do a courtesy exchange and give you store credit.

• Our sensor alarms DO work at the store doors, so keep that in mind. But we only use one type of sensor. Sometimes they can be placed weirdly on clothes so go to fitting rooms and triple check that you got them all. Also check pockets because a lot of lifters put sensors in pockets and leave that item there in the store. Don’t let another lifter be the reason you get caught!

• Associates literally do not give a shit. Some guy walked out and beeped after I checked him out so I tried to call him back in bc I thought I accidentally left a sensor on. He heard me but kept going so I’m assuming he obviously was lifting something else. My coworker and I literally did nothing lol. There wasn’t really anything we could have done.

lifting tips from a h0bby l0bby employee

ok girlies and gents and y’alls! i’ve been working in retail for a solid month now and i have some tea that’s ready to be spilled! some of these tips are specific to h/L, some can be applied to any store. anyways, here we go!!

1. if you lift something, for the LOVE OF CHRIST. please lift all of it, including the packaging. it honestly pisses us off more when you steal a single earring & leave the packaging and other earring as opposed to just taking the entire thing. if you take it all then we don’t have to try to sell the item

2. we can’t do anything to you unless we specifically see you concealing an item. if we have suspicion, the best thing we can do is cs you to death and hope you drop the item. so be wary of where you conceal.

3. this is kind of location specific but my h/L has probably 3 domes and TONSS OF BLINDSPOTS. not to mention, i am 99% sure the domes are fake because i’ve been in every little secret room in that store and there’s literally no where to watch cameras. basically, just make sure to conceal when sa’s can’t see you.

4. h/L employees are SUPER INATTENTIVE. unless you ask us a question, we basically just keep to ourselves. we’re too busy restocking merchandise to be watching your every move.

5. there are only RFID’s on really expensive things.

6. ask us questions about locations of merchandise and just random stuff about the store. it makes you look less sus if you’re willing to show your face to sa’s and ask questions. it’s even better if you genuinely act interested in what we’re saying.

7. clearance aisles are cliché. don’t conceal there, don’t ditch packaging there. it’s the first place we look if we suspect someone of lifting. you’re better off concealing in crafts, floral, party, or seasonal. maybe even frames.

8. don’t even try to use the reusable bag or walkout method. reusable bags are a red flag. we don’t have company specific reusable bags, and when you’re putting things in reusable bags it’s superrrr sus, so you’re better off just concealing in a purse or on your body. the walkout method isn’t good either because there’s always at least 1 sa near the entrance retrieving carts or sweeping the floor or some shit like that. if we see a bunch of stuff in your cart & it’s not in bags, we might ask you to show your receipt or come back in the store.

9. this is probably the most important one. if you think you’re being sussed and you feel sketched out, it’s because you probably are. we have an entire binder of BOLO’s (be on lookout) for shoplifters that we catch on cctv (which are only pointed towards the entrance & registers!) so basically, if you feel sussed, just drop&ditch, because we’re most likely onto you and we WILL remember you next time you come in.

again, some of these are LOCATION SPECIFIC!! please do your own research as well!! i’ll add more tips as i learn more! just remember that h0bby l0bby is a racist, anti-lgbt, misogynistic trash company, so rob that bitch blind!!!

so this advice, in general, is for all newbies, especially since i see so many joining this community

first of all, i understand the “beginner” excitement.

it like suddenly you walk into a store & you think “i can have this. i like this and i CAN have this. right now. no saving up. no waiting for sales. no finding dupes. it can be mine right now“ it’s a feeling that someone who hasn’t grown with money (why would someone who has the money shoplift?) has NEVER felt before.

BUT you mentioned you have been lifting for ONE week & your total is already in a few hundreds. that’s what you should get to in your first YEAR, if you’re lucky.

why? it’s not that i dont want you to have nice things. it’s because you know NOTHING about lifting yet. you could have read every single post in this community top to bottom but it won’t actually make you a good lifter. at all.

imagine this: if you read books on painting scenery, can you suddenly make the most breathtaking lanscape? hell no. it’s gonna be horrible, even if you read/researched everything about it. with TIME & practice you get better at it. those books will guide you & make you have a better understanding of what/how to do so you can learn much faster, but they won’t teach you how to paint. they can’t.

when you begin, no matter how good you want it to turn out, or how much you know how it should turn out, you will make mistakes that will make you cringe in a year & wonder how the fuck you weren’t caught/arrested (IF YOU WEREN’T. IF)

what i am trying to say: slow down. slow down right now. you are new, you have literally just begun. you should still be doing pens & gum & chapstick. it’s a crime. think of the possible effects.

if even thinking about getting caught makes you scared, think about it actually happening.

think about losing your caregivers/parents trust for years.

thinking about paying 200€ for a 15€ necklace.

think about being in court because of it.

the mere fact that you have been lifting for a week & already begin to feel “addicted” is by itself the indication of a huge problem. think about this. stop & think on this implication.

please, for yourself, please i am begging you, slow down, go smaller, don’t even think of doing hauls yet

this is not the same advice i would give to someone who has been lifting for years on how to deal with this, but i feel like this is the advice that can help you.

also, i want to add, these posts you see here- the big hauls, most of these people are not minors. most have been doing it for years. most have been caught several times. some are even faking it.
