I am fully convinced 85% of the people who watch Severance and say they love Helly only want her to be suffering. It’s never about if she’s happy, what she wants or needs, or what she deserves. They only want her to be a martyr, an extension of Helena, not a living breathing person with feelings and a life belongs only to her.

So to me, there are spoons (general energy cost) and carnival tickets (specific energy cost).

Spoons can be used pretty much anywhere.

Carnival tickets are only good for the carnival, and it’s only in town for a limited amount of time.

So like, if I get “kitchen cleaning” carnival tickets, I can’t use that to clean my bedroom, that’s not where the carnival is.

Stranger Things has more overt themes of child abuse/CSA but, aside from Hopper’s monologue in the finale to Eleven and some of events surrounding her in earlier seasons, I didn’t connect as much to the story. It felt almost detached?

don’t get me wrong, I was absolutely white-knuckling through the whole thing and I HATED some of it, but I didn’t get that sense of, idk, something unlocking in my chest

it was just triggering and felt kind of exploitative
