the shaman of the karthspire, part 1

I wasn’t sure what I had been expecting - perhaps a wizened old Reachwoman, with a hooked nose, beady black eyes and a necklace of sabre cat teeth around her neck. Even a hagraven, like in the countless other Forsworn forts, would have been closer than the woman sitting before me.
The shaman draped herself across her throne, swirling a dark substance in a drinking horn. She wore a curious garment, seemingly made of one swathe of black fabric down over her chest and between her thighs, secured by a belt of bird skulls around her waist. Her legs, feet, hands and arms, although not covered by her dress, were covered with whorls and patterns, runes painted in deep indigo ink - power augmentations was my best guess.
She stopped swirling the horn, and with an elegant languidness straightened up in the chair. Her body paint stopped just below her collarbones, leaving her long neck and face bare and shining in the dim firelight. The same thick kohl rimmed eyes of pale, washed-out green, and her blonde hair was left mostly down, with hawk feathers sticking out from between the strands.
The shaman of the Karthspire was beautiful, so much so that I half-wondered whether she had cast a spell on me right there and then.
“We have brought you an intruder, shaman. He is not of our lands.”
She folded her legs in front of her. Her eyes narrowed.“He did not kill any of us, and instead claims he wishes to speak with you.”
One of the Forsworn grabbed my hair and yanked me up onto my knees. The shaman’s mouth tilted up and she leaned forward, looking directly at me. I felt my knees weaken.
“Is this true?” she said.
Her voice was higher than I expected, softer, cooler and more polished.
“Uh, yes, I-” my voice came out a guttural mumble. I coughed, and at that her grin only grew. “I wanted to-”
“Yet another adventurer seeking a wish, are you? Looking for me to call to the Old Gods and ask for a blessing, or give you a glimpse into your murky future?” She snorted, lapsing back into her throne and sipping from her drinking horn.
I noticed she was bored again, as she rolled her eyes and sighed. She traced the ivory rim of the horn and looked at me. Divines, she made me dizzy.
“Well,” her tone was deflated, “I must regretfully inform you that, as you’ve brought no payment I will have to take your eyes as an offering.”
A chill ran down my spine. The shaman was well-spoken, relaxed and youthful, but delivered such savage words with such ease and use that I wondered just how many men had met the same fate in this antechamber. How many different bloods stained these stone floors. No matter how many Forsworn I had dealt with, their ways still terrified me.
“I’m not here for a wish.” I said quickly.
The shaman was quiet for a moment. Her eyes had widened a little. “No?”
“I’m,” I pushed myself up off the floor onto my knees, dusting down my robes, “I’m a scholar. I have been travelling the Reach, visiting the clans in and around the mountains. I have been up to Druadach Redoubt, and all the way down to Lost Valley, gathering information about the Reachmen and your history.”
The shaman blinked and smiled again. “You’re here to interview me?”
“I’ve gathered a wealth of information about your past. I know a great deal about Red Eagle, and how Ulfric Stormcloak drove your people from the city after the Great War. There is, however, one gap in my knowledge - the conspiracy in Markarth.”
Just like that, her smile was gone.
I’d hit a nerve.
“Before I left Druadach, one of your kinsmen told me to find you. He said you had a… unique perspective on the event. I wanted to ask you about that.”
For a split second, I could’ve sworn her jaw tensed. The shaman broke eye contact with me, looking instead to the two Forsworn that hauled me in here.
“Leave us.”
“Yes, shaman.”
She didn’t say anything else until the door had closed behind them. Lifting her head high, the shaman braced her arms on the side of the throne and frowned.
“So, what would you ask of me?”
kpop stage names are so funny. like u will have a group of five girls - three of them will have their actual korean names like sooyoung and jihye and dayeon, one of them will be some sort of letter arrangement like A/J:U and the other will be fucking barbara or something

I’m really bummed out that there isn’t going to be a sequel to Faery Legends of Avalon. It would be a great game they just need to add more to it. For example, girls should be able to use bows & more voice acting.
I don’t know the game just seemed like it could have a lot of potential.

sexy stag man…
My entire life I, just like many other Friends fans, have had a tendency to dislike Emily Waltham. But let’s reread the facts and re-evaluate her situation.
1. Emily meets Rachel because she’s Rachel’s boss’s niece. Rachel’s boss asks her to take his niece Emily to the opera one night, to which she says yes. However, on that same night Rachel has her first date with Joshua, so she asks Ross to go with Emily instead. Ross and Emily end up in a bed & breakfast in Vermont after the date. Honestly, Emily had every right to be upset with Rachel, because she blew her off even though she made a promise.
2. Emily begins dating Ross after that first date. When Emily leaves to go back to England, Ross goes after her at the airport to tell her that he loves her. She responds with “thank you.” Later Ross finds out she is seeing another man named Colin. She decides to break up with him to be with Ross, and tells him she loves him too. Emily was wrong for cheating on Colin, but did the right thing by breaking up with him because she loved Ross.
4. A tricky situation arose, when Ross and Emily realized it would be difficult for her to keep traveling back and forth between New York and London. Ross suggests they get married after only dating for 6 weeks, and proposes. Emily doesn’t know if she wants to at first, but then agrees because she loves him. Emily really did nothing wrong here.
5. Emily then starts planning their wedding, and puts Monica Geller in charge of picking up the wedding dress. However, Emily didn’t know that when Monica picked up the dress, she wore it before Emily did. Nothing too bad happened here, but it wasn’t a hundred percent fair of Monica to wear the dress.
6. Ross and Emily decide to marry in London. However, the church Emily wants to get married in is being torn down. Rachel realizes she is still in love with Ross, and decides to fly to London to tell him. Ross and Emily get in a fight. Ross and Emily almost called off the wedding, but Ross made it up to Emily and decorated the half torn down building so he and Emily could still get married. Everything seems to be alright, until, at the wedding, Ross says Rachel’s name instead of Emily’s during the vows. They still get married, but, Emily disappears. Emily was a little upset that Ross wanted to invite his ex-girlfriend, which seems to be understandable. After the wedding, Emily had every right to be angry and sad. Ross didn’t only say the wrong name, he said the name of the one girl he told Emily not to worry about.
7. Ross eventually convinces Emily to come to New York to be with him. She says yes, but on the condition that he won’t see Rachel anymore. Since he is incapable of handling this, their marriage ends. I’ve always thought the measure was a little drastic, but, when thinking rationally, Emily really did have a point. Yes, Rachel was one of Ross’s closest friends, but he still said her name at his and Emily’s wedding.

something i’ve never quite understood is why faeries are harmed by iron. faeries are, after all, beings of and tied to nature. they live in forests, nurse the woods and the animals, keeping the magic of the earth.
iron is the lifeblood of this planet. the earth’s core is a mixture of iron and nickel, haematite runs in veins through the ground, and it is a major building block of life. even our blood is rich in iron that makes our haemoglobin.
iron is everywhere, in the ground, in all of our bodies. it makes no sense to me that something so natural, so abundant and earthly would harm faeries so.
instead, give me metal-manipulating faeries. give me mythical creatures strengthened by earth metals and minerals. give me faeries that starve without iron, that surround themselves with little iron trinkets to feel powerful. iron faeries. think about it.
romance tropes i love #1
ya know what i love? when a sensible, no-nonsense, professionally-minded character gets a crush. like when they’re trying so hard to remain all professional but their heart is beating fast, they’re trying so hard to rationalise themselves out of the butterflies they’re feeling, trying to convince their heart to slow down, chastising themselves for their foolishness whenever they daydream, convincing themselves that they’re fine and they don’t have a crush and they’re still in control- all the while melting inside every time their crush looks their way.
OH MAN i eat that shit UP. the denial. the PINING. THE SWEETNESS ASJHDHFHDJSJS
A witch is a magic user with more focus on medicine and the body and a wizard is a magic user with more focus on like physics and academia. I don’t know what dingus made up one day that they’re just the 2 magic genders, that sounds stupid
witches = magic doctors, wizards = magic researchers, artificers = magic engineers, alchemists = magic chemists, sorcerers = magic youtubers
