Vultures are holy creatures.
Tending the dead.
Bowing low.
Bared head.
Whispers to cold flesh,
“Your old name is not your king.
I rename you ‘Everything.’”

The Good Side of Tarot’s Bad Cards
While any card can be positive or negative, there is no denying that each of them has a dominant atmosphere. Here are tarot’s notorious cards in a positive regard.
The Hermit
You feel complete in yourself. Physically, emotionally and in every other way, you are self-sufficient.
The Hanged Man
Your life is so beautiful and peaceful that you do not want more. You just sit there, enjoying it all.
Death
Everything that is stagnant and dark in your life is about to evolve into something fresh and bright.
The Devil
You will feel for someone the kind of passion that the ancients wrote about in songs and poems.
The Tower
Your fears and worries are about to be shattered. Your entire world is about to be rocked.
The Moon
Pay attention to your dreams. The solutions to all your problems will appear in your sleep.
Seven of Wands
You have the high ground. Secretly, your enemies are feeling hopeless. Your victory is guaranteed.
Nine of Wands
The fight is almost done, and the scariest part is over. From here on out, nothing can hurt you anymore.
Ten of Wands
You will soon get everything you ever wished for, that you will not have enough time to enjoy it all.
Four of Cups
The poor only have suffering. The oppressed only have agony. So know that your boredom is a luxury.
Five of Cups
All that you will lose is whatever’s mediocre. Do not mourn it. You will be left with what is superior.
Seven of Cups
You will have so many great paths to choose from. Just the picking itself will be a lovely adventure.
Three of Swords
You are so powerful and beautiful that you will break hearts everywhere you go without even meaning to.
Seven of Swords
Whatever punishment you are afraid of is not coming. You will completely get away from it.
Nine of Swords
All your anxieties are imaginary. There is no darkness. Simply open your eyes and see the light.
Ten of Swords
The worst is now over. This means the best can now begin. The pain has run out. Pleasure will pour in.
Four of Pentacles
You have nothing to worry about. Your fears are an illusion. In truth, your life is secure and wonderful.
Five of Pentacles
You will find someone who will stay with you for better or worse, in sickness and health, forever and ever.
and a very pleasant lughnasadh for those living in the southern hemisphere 😘
Imbolc Spread
Here is a simple four card spread that you can do to welcome the changing of seasons!
Imbolc marks the halfway point between winter and summer, and is the perfect time to prepare for the coming spring. Read more about Imbolc here.
Past: What can you learn from the past season? Winter can be rough for some people, maybe you were put through the wringer this past season too. What is something you can glean from this experience so that you can learn from this?
Present: What energy do you need to bring into this next season? It’s important to learn from the past and plan for the future, but make sure you are able to stay present and grounded even as the weather is bleak. So, what energy should you bring with you into this changing of seasons that can help you to learn, prepare, and pursue what you need to?
Prepare: Anything you would need to prepare for this coming season? This is the time of the year that farmers and gardeners start to prep their lands and plant their seeds for the spring; what is something you can prepare for that you will need to grow or nurture in the springtime?
Pursue: What is something you need to pursue during this time? This could be a goal that you set earlier this year but you have yet to follow through on, is this something you could be pursuing now, during this halfway between winter and spring?
I haven't done this exact spread yet, I plan to do it the day of Imbolc. I'll share my experience with it if I feel like it's ok to share :)
Let me know if you try out this spread, I would love to know how you feel about it!!!
I am protected in everything I do. Divinity is watching over me through every tribulation. There is no obstacle that I am not built to overcome. Life isn’t always fair, but I am prepared for all odds. I am mentally ready. I am spiritually infinite. I am physically strong.
Soups and Broths in Magick
I am rather new to the witch community on tumblr but I have been interested in witchcraft for years. I have come upon a reoccurring thing, many of my friends I wish to magically aid through teas and herbal brews, do not like the taste of tea. I have found that mixing herbal blends or herbs representing what you wish to occur into soups and broths work just as well! In fact if you choose the right soup you can get sometimes better results I have found. Soup mimics tea by being easily drank and can be served warm and hot, which I find very comforting.
First it is important to choose a soup or broth that goes well taste wise with the herbs you wish to use. You want it to taste pleasant for yourself or the one you are providing it to. Though, try to find a soup or stock or broth that corresponds with what you wish to achieve with the herbs to further strengthen and increase the outcome you wish.
A short list of correspondences:
Chicken Broth/Stock: Uncrossing, new growth, fertility, sacrifice, New beginnings, rebirth
Turkey Broth/Stock: Close connections to Earth, generosity, inspiration, bounty, blessings
Beef Broth/Stock: New beginnings, femininity/female power, fertility, strength, balance
Pork Broth/Stock or Bacon: Intelligence, good luck, prosperity, curiousity, discovering new things
Fish Broth/Stock: Close connections to Water, health, improving oneself, the unconcious mind, awareness, fertility, good luck, wishes, change
Shellfish/Clam/Mussel Broth/Stock/Soup/Chowder: Protection, stopping lies/gossip/rumors, removal or treatment of stubbornness, honesty, truth, close connections to both Water and Earth, living a natural life
Shrimp Broth/Stock: love, abundance, fertility, trying new things, moving forward
Cheese base/Milk base soup/Chowder: Beauty, femininity, love, self-love, purification, rebirth
Tomato Soup: Protection, prosperity, love, uncrossing, femininity, romance and passion, negation of negativity and evil
Pumpkin Soup: Healing, prosperity, love, protection, granting wishes
Squash Soup: Psychic awareness, spiritual enlightenment
Corn Chowder: connections to the sun, luck, prosperity, abundance
Onion Soup: protection, keep evil away, healing, banishing, stability, exorcism, money, lust, and ends bad habits
Pea Soup: Kindness, connections with Air
Mushroom Soup: psychic enhancement, connections to Earth, longevity, strength, immortality
Curry/Curry Soups: banishing, healing, prosperity, protection from negativity
Soups with Noodles: Longevity, uncrossing
Soups with Rice: prosperity, blessing, money and wealth, security, good fortune to come
Soups with Barley: Love, Healing, Protection Hopefully this will be helpful for any witches who are not very big fans of the taste of teas or for anyone else for that matter. I would love to hear or see any other suggestions for tea replacements or other soups that could be used. This came straight out of my Grimoire and I hope to add more of it to this site soon. Blessed be everyone!

Localizing Your Practice
So much witchcraft emphasizes how important it is to honor and work with the Earth, but then teaches us spells with ingredients we basically have to import using locations we don’t have access to. It’s rare to find an existing grimoire or guide book that actually works with where we live. We can still use them, but it doesn’t enhance our connection to our local land, which to many can feel important. Here are some tips for localizing your practice and working with the land you actually live on.
See what nature exists around you. Explore your own backyard with a critical eye. What plants can you actually go and pick yourself? What are those plants associated with? Do you have access to a creek or river? What does your local land actually have on it? If magic correspondences for your local plants haven’t been written about, you may have to do your own research. Example: I grow several plants on my back porch which I can potentially use for magic. There are magnolia trees and rhodedendrons on the grounds of my apartment complex. My parent’s neighbors have chickens in the backyard, so I have access to some feathers when they shed.
Check out local folklore, legends, etc. This is one of my favorite parts, but can also be the hardest. What are the stories of your area, both on a local and cultural scale. Example: A West Virginian may incorporate legends of the Mothman. Everyone says that one building on my old college campus is haunted (and they’re right.) People talk about that liminal-space feeling when you drive down that one road at night.
Find the magic spots. Sometimes the urban legends will tip you off to these (usually in a bad way) but other times you can find them on your own. A place where the energy is just right for some reason. A place you can go to be closer to nature, or a place you could host a ritual if needed. Sometimes it’s just a place where you can feel your mind open a little bit. Example: The shady corner of a public park. The tunnel downtown. That weirdly-perfect circle of trees in the woods behind Wal-Mart.
Meet your land wights. Spirits of the local land. This could be the fair folk, but also house spirits, the spirits of the trees near you, the nature spirits of wherever you are. They’re there. Be good to them and they’ll be good to you! Note: Some spirits and wights will not be interested in working with you, and that’s okay. I generally think it’s good to at least leave a polite offering to just be on general decent terms even if you never work with them more directly beyond that.
Check in with your Seasons. Harvest holidays generally don’t have actual lifestyle importance to most people reading this. The seasonal shifts other people write about may be from a very different climate than yours! Figure out a calendar that works for you. It doesn’t have to be detailed, but something that ties you to the seasons as you actually experience them. I also love working in any fun annual festivals nearby, if any.
