I’m coming for you #bodywork. My goal this winter was to ditch the scale, and Focus on getting bigger. This was definitely a hard mindset to get into since for the passed 2 years I’ve focused on leaning or maintaining where I was at. For the first time, I’m not expecting crazy results just little ones. Hysto consult

Earlier this week, I met with an OBGYN to discuss getting a hysto. I knew this time would come for various reasons: health concerns from last year that are currently resolved, not wanting to go off hormones for an extended period of time to harvest my eggs, financial issues to keep my eggs frozen, not in a serious, committed relationship leading to a child, age, and lower body dysphoria that has been creeping up on me more over the last 2 years.

I have seen a lot of positive changes in the world as well as some negative reactions in relation to the trans community. I, myself, have love and support from friends and family in which I appreciate all of them individually. In the face of adversity we must join even closer together because together we can and will create the most change. The most powerful weapons we have right now are knowledge, visibility if you’re able to be visible, courage, our broad and wide trans community, and our allies. It’s not a partisan issue, it’s a human rights issue, if you support me having the same rights as you then now is the time to educate yourself then to go forward in educating others around you. Most importantly we need to stand by trans youth. You are loved; You exist; and You have support. Don’t give up! I am a veteran. I am male. I am trans. I am a trans male. I am educated. I am powerful. I exist. Here’s to all the years I never understood myself, but knew one day I’d figure out to feel at home within myself. Here’s to all the years on why I felt like different, but didn’t have the words to explain to myself let alone another human being. I never self-identified as a lesbian even though others considered me as such mostly because I didn’t want to give them a reaction, or have a conversation about how that language didn’t fit me and my reasons why. At one point I was so tired of everyone self-identifying me that I came out as bisexual because it was a label I was comfortable with probably due to being able to play on a spectrum (that’s what my teenage mind decided). I discovered the language of transgender and trans when I was 19 and going to school at a community college in Oregon. That was when I found the right language however it was too scary for me to speak aloud. So I did what any 19 year old in 2004 would do which was hit the internet for more information. I started a live journal (an online blog) this was where I found the trans masculine community, and I knew this was who I was and saw life possible. I was still scared and I talked to trans males online about the military and I would be trans enough if I postponed my transition until after I was done serving or if I should just go forward with transitioning and forget the military. With online support from the community I found I postponed my transition and joined the military. Years later in my late 20’s I began to transition, and 5 years later I feel more at home in my body and identity. Happy National Coming Out Day!
