Facing the reality that the version of history we know is told through the colonial lens and not the ancestral perspective, can be shocking. But decolonizing language gives us sovereignty over our history, and how we narrate it allows future generations to have a more accurate version than the one we have now. Taino was imposed on us, but Lukairi is in our blood.
