*He's utterly dumbfounded. Mars. The fucking planet. This guy made it off Earth. And he lived there. And "The Quiet Rapture"? What the fuck was that??*
*He couldn't help but blurt it out. His mind was racing. He was speaking with a human from space. He's never done that before! He scrambles for his notebook and quickly jots down "Universe 35 - Eden's home", underlining it few times. Underneath he writes. "Met a guy who used to live on Mars! Now he just lives... out there? I guess?" He underlines "Mars" a few times for emphasis. Because... wow.*
"Uh... Right, New York. It's-"
*This guy's probably never been to Earth. That's why he doesn't know what a pigeon is.*
*How does he explain New York City to someone who's never been to Earth??*
"Uh. It's loud. Real loud. Lotta people call it the "City that Never Sleeps", and they're not really lyin' about it. People are always doing something at any hour of the day. All year round."
*Christ, what else can he say? Well. Pigeons. He gestures to Phoebe.*
"Pigeons are everywhere. She's a great example of one. One of the bigger ones that I've seen around, but I've absolutely seen bigger. There's also always some sorta light on. It... can kinda be like a maze if you haven't been there before, but you get the hang of it over time."
*He felt like he was advertising it. There was really no good way to explain the City, especially to someone who'd never been to an Earth city before. But even if they have been to Earth, it was still hard to explain.*
"The buildings are real tall. Call 'em skyscrapers 'cus they touch the sky. And all of them are basically touching, wall to wall. You mix that with the amount of people and you've barely got any room to breathe."
*He chuckles. He kinda missed it, the ability to just... Blend in with the crowd, not get as many strange looks for the large scar that ran across his face, feel like a ghost in a graveyard. Where he was meant to be.
Sure, a break from the crowds was nice, but he preferred not feeling so exposed like this. In one way or another.*
"But, back to you. What's the 'Quiet Rapture'? Is it some War that I should be prepared for in the future?"
*He laughs. It's strained.
Please say no. He couldn't go through another one of those. He couldn't lose his friends again.*
