It's crazy to me that they honestly got an absolutely banging cast for the atla live action and they still managed to make it as dry and bland as unseasoned chicken
The cast members are genuinely so fun in interviews and they really remind me of each of the characters but oh my God everything I see from the actual show is just absolute ass
...ok I know I said that I was gonna only do one prompt for @zutaraweek, but turns out I was inspired enough to try and do another one! I actually had a lot of ideas for the "time" prompt, but where I decided to land on was "time of day", so in this case "nighttime & daytime"; and as we all know she rises with the moon, and he rises with the sun lol
day 4: visions @zutaraweek

WHATS IT LIKE DATING STEVEN UNIVERSE
Cooley note: (Steven universe x neglected wb!reader)
For the longest time, love felt like a foreign concept something meant for others, not for someone like you. You were the anomaly, the quiet one in the corner, seen but never truly heard. But everything changed when he came into your life. He saw you. He felt you. Every word you spoke carried weight with him, and for the first time, you felt like you mattered.
Steven Universe half-human, half-Gem, full-hearted monarch of compassion and chaos. Your boyfriend. Your light. The two of you made long-distance work, even if it meant running up Bruceâs phone bill with constant calls and late-night texts. You couldnât help it. Every vibration of your phone sent your heart racing.
â[Name], can you please put your phone down during a family dinner?â Bruceâs voice cut through the clinking of silverware.
Since when did Bruce care about family dinners? Half the time, you ate alone in your room anyway.
âNo can do. Steven just sent me a picture of his garden,â you said, giggling as you watched him show off a tiny cactus through your phone screen.
âWho the hell is Steven?â Jason asked, raising an eyebrow. Damian rolled his eyes, muttering, âHer boyfriend,â with a mocking tone.
That was all it took. Suddenly, everyone wanted to know who Steven was and why he had your attention. They hadnât cared much before, but now that your world revolved less around the Bats and more around him, jealousy began to simmer beneath the surface. And by jealousy, it meant full-blown irritation.
Steven, however, didnât care for the Bats. Not one bit. He believed in redemption, sure, but neglecting someone you were supposed to love? That was unforgivable. He despised Bruce saw in him the same flaws he sometimes saw in his own father. Greg had given him freedom but had also taken away structure, guidance, and care. Bruce, on the other hand, gave structure but no warmth. Two sides of the same coin, both leaving scars.
As for your brothers, Steven had his own colorful opinions. Dick reminded him of a more unstable Pearl loyal but emotionally volatile. Tim was like Sapphire without Ruby, lost in logic without passion. Jason? Pure Ruby fiery, impulsive, and protective to a fault. Damian wasnât quite an Amethyst, too disciplined for that, but maybe a Garnet who thought he knew what was best for everyone, even when he didnât. In short, Steven couldnât stand them.
âHeâs such a sweet guy. Youâd love him if you met him,â youâd say, glowing with pride as you told stories about his adventures his time in space, his role as a diplomat between Earth and Homeworld, his endless optimism.
But when the day came for Steven to meet the Waynes, the air turned electric with tension. The Bats saw him as a threat. âHeâs still half Diamond, isnât he? Probably here to conquer Earth,â they whispered among themselves. Steven, on the other hand, saw right through them. âThey donât deserve you,â he told you quietly, his voice trembling with restrained anger.
The only one he respected was Alfred. The butlerâs calm demeanor and quiet kindness reminded him of home. Steven would often help him in the kitchen, chopping vegetables or washing dishes, the two of them sharing quiet conversations while the rest of the manor simmered with unspoken hostility.
But what truly set Steven off was the invasion of privacy. The Bats didnât just disapproved they stalked. After you returned to Beach City, Steven found a tracker hidden in his varsity jacket. His blood boiled. He didnât tell you right away, not wanting to ruin your night at the Beach City Fair. The two of you had planned a romantic evening, ending with a ride on the Ferris wheel under the stars.
As the wheel turned, the ocean breeze brushing against your skin, Steven leaned in to kiss you only to hear muffled arguing from the cart behind. He froze. Then came the unmistakable voice of Dick Grayson, furious and unrestrained.
âGet your hands off my baby sister!â Dick shouted, struggling against Duke and Tim, who were desperately trying to hold him back.
Stevenâs gem pulsed with light, his anger barely contained. He turned to you, eyes softening despite the chaos. âThey followed us,â he whispered. âThey donât trust me." You took his hand giving him a soft smile "I trust you" and thats all it takes.

Final Akane + AquaKane Thoughts
There are so many things to say that I don't even know how to start organizing my thoughts lol I'll also be including my final thoughts about the "love triangle" while I'm at it, so this is probably going to get long!
There is a big difference between how Aqua acts at Sunset and how he acts at Night.
Aqua and Akane started their business relationship with a kiss at sunset. Later, Aqua ended their relationship at sunset. In the world of movies, sunset is the "magic hour" for acting. This suggests that the breakup was just a performance. It wasn't from his heart; it was a fake breakup to protect Akane from his revenge.
Their genuine, deep relationship started at night after they found Gorouâs body. At the very end, when Aqua is facing Hikaru and thinking about his biggest regrets, he realizes he wanted to build a real, equal relationship with Akane. The night is when Aqua is most honest.
When Aqua thinks back on his memories in Season 3,Â
With Kana, he is a spectator. He is watching her from a distance like a fan. He feels like Gorou, the obsessed fan who is looking at his idolÂ
With Akane, He is a participant. They are standing side-by-side. With Akane, he isn't a fan or a ghostâhe is the person he was always meant to be. He doesn't have to wear a mask.
Aqua didn't leave Akane because he stopped loving her. He left her at sunset to play the "hero" and keep her safe. But in his heart, especially in the dark of the night, he knew she was the only one who truly stood by his side as an equal.

idk if I want to be them or be in between them... that's the question here.
Thanks, Akane.
Aqua and Akane
Aqua's relationships with Kana and Akane donât just differ in plot â they differ in vocabulary.
How language reveals what Aqua really feels in Oshi no Ko
In Oshi no Ko, words are never neutral. Every verb, every subtle word choice functions as emotional evidence.
The relationships between Aka Akasaka's characters are built not only through scenes but through linguistic precision. What words are chosen, and which are avoided, tell us everything about how genuine â or distorted â these emotions are.
I. Irekomu (ć „ă蟌ă): Obsession, not love
Letâs start with Chapter 83 â the quiet prologue to a bigger misunderstanding.
Here, Mem comments that Aqua is âobsessedâ with Kana.
In the original Japanese, she uses the verb ć „ă蟌ă (irekomu), a term that carries connotations of fixation or fan-like obsession, not romance. Itâs the word youâd use for someone who throws themselves too deeply into a hobby, a cause, a role, or â tellingly â an idol. That choice is intentional.
Mem doesnât say suki (to like) or koi suru (to love). She says irekomu, and by doing so, Aka tells us exactly what Aquaâs fixation really is: a projection of his guilt.
And itâs not just a coincidence. This scene directly mirrors Aquaâs trauma surrounding Aiâs death.
Even though Mem is talking about Kana, Aquaâs internal thoughts immediately drift to Ai â the person he couldnât protect.
Even the anime adaptation intensifies the connection, showing a symbolic image of Kana dying just like Ai.
Through this, Aka subtly tells us what the dialogue never states outright: Aquaâs âintensityâ toward Kana isnât born of love â itâs born of fear. Heâs not in love with her, heâs terrified of her meeting the same fate as Ai.
Thatâs why the scene with Mem matters so much. It sets the stage â showing us that whatever âinterestâ others might perceive between Aqua and Kana is, in truth, the echo of his trauma, not a romantic spark.
MemÂŽs misinterpretation sets the stage for Akaneâs later misunderstandingâand for us to see how language becomes the mechanism of that confusion.
II. Hikareru (æčăăă): The understandable mistake
Chapter 87 continues this theme of misunderstanding, this time through Akaneâs words.
While reflecting on Aquaâs behavior, she says he was âattractedâ to Kana.
In Japanese, the word she uses is: æčăăă (hikareru).
Again, Akasaka chooses his words with surgical precision. Hikareru doesnât mean love. Itâs often used to express admiration, curiosity, or unconscious fascination. Itâs the language of interest, not intimacy.
The authorâs decision to have Akane use this word is critical.
Akane â usually the most perceptive character â is reading Aquaâs behavior, but without all the information. Because she doesnât know what we know: that Aquaâs fixation stems from his guilt, from the fact that he was the one who encouraged Kana to enter the idol world.
Therefore, her conclusion, while logical, is incomplete. She correctly senses Aquaâs emotional intensity â but she mistakes its cause.
Some fans forget that even Akane â the one who understands Aqua most â isnât omniscient. Sheâs not a narrator with divine knowledge; and she is not immune to being wrong when she doesnât have the full picture. The story has shown us repeatedly that Akane needs to investigate and analyze before reaching the truth â itâs her method, her defining trait.
Without the full context, what she perceives as romantic interest towards Kana is really Aquaâs buried trauma manifesting through guilt and a distorted sense of responsibility .
This is a deliberate narrative move. Akasaka wants us to witness how even Akane, who âsees throughâ people, can misread Aqua when her information is partial.
And here is the thing: he (Aka) intentionally makes the misinterpretation visible through language.
Just like with Mem, Aka doesnât have Akane say âć„œăâ (suki) or âæăăŠăăâ (koishiteiru, to be in love). He makes her say hikareru â a term that perfectly captures the illusion of love, not the thing itself.
And because weâve already seen irekomu earlier (Memâs âobsessionâ), the manga gently tells us:
What Akane misreads as attraction, the audience already knows as trauma.
Itâs one of many examples of narrative foreshadowing through linguistic nuance.
III. Tanoshii (愜ăă): Momentary joy
By Chapter 146, Aqua himself gives us another piece of the puzzle of his heart. When speaking of Kana, he says that being with her is tanoshii â âfun.â
Itâs a charming line, and many readers (and Kana) took it as a hint of romance.
But semantically, tanoshii carries lightness. It implies enjoyment, amusement, or temporary relief. It is never used for profound emotional content â only for immediate, surface-level joy.
Compare this to ćčžă (shiawase), which is what Kana herself uses in Chapter 148 when she says that Aqua is âhappiestâ with Akane.
Thatâs the emotional contrast made literal: Kana gives Aqua tanoshii â momentary relief. Akane gives him shiawase â genuine happiness.
And we can't forget that Aqua himself once used that same concept when speaking of his time with Akane (Chapter 98).
When he recalls his days with Akane, he refers to those as âhappy daysâ â shiawase na hibi.
This word choice is also deliberate. Shiawase (ćčžă) represents genuine happiness, a state of fulfillment and stability rather than passing joy.
So when he tells Kana that being with her is tanoshii, the difference is striking: what he feels with Akane are happy days; what he feels with Kana are fun moments.
The gap between those two sensations â tanoshii and shiawase â is the entire emotional distance between escapism and acceptance.
The difference isnât subtle. Itâs intentional. And proof that Aka Akasaka constructs emotional hierarchies through word choice.
IV. Tebanashitakunai (ææŸăăăăȘă): The language of conscious love
In contrast, Aquaâs language toward Akane belongs to a different emotional register.
In Chapter 97, he uses ææŸăăăăȘă (tebanashitakunai) â literally âI donât want to let go.â
This phrase expresses not fleeting enjoyment (tanoshii), not obsession (irekomu), but intentional emotional attachment. It conveys a conscious choice to hold on to something meaningful.
Unlike his reactive, guilt-driven responses around Kana, here Aqua articulates agency and recognition: Akane represents a relationship he wanted to preserve (even though he didn't in the end, choosing revenge over everything, and ended up regretting it).
Aquaâs bond with Akane is thus distinguished by intent. With her, he experiences the possibility of stability and the chance to be happy â not because she mirrors his trauma or can forget about it while being with her, but because she sees it and accepts it.
And thatâs why Akaneâs presence in Aquaâs life holds such a distinct tone â linguistically and narratively. She represents the first relationship in which Aqua is not trying to rewrite his past, but to exist within his present.
V. The hierarchy of emotion through words
By examining the japanese words that frame Aquaâs relationships, a clear emotional hierarchy emerges:
Itâs not just vocabulary â itâs emotional architecture.
Each word represents a layer of how the author wants us to feel the difference.
VI. What remains unspoken
What makes all of this fascinating is that none of these distinctions are accidental. Akasaka uses language as emotional architecture â each verb and adjective carrying the weight of narrative truth.
By denying Aqua and Kana the language of suki (love), he refuses to give that relationship the foundation of romance, just its illusion.
By granting Aqua and Akane the vocabulary of attachment and happiness, he defines their bond as something deeper, lived, and mutual.
Even Akaneâs misunderstanding serves a structural role: it reinforces how language itself becomes a test of perception.
Mem and Akane both interpret Aquaâs feelings through imperfect words. While Aqua himself has established a hierarchy of what he feels, thinks, and says about Kana and Akane. And through those words, the author communicates directly with the reader.
He reminds us that truth in Oshi no Ko can be found in the language, if we put aside ship wars and focus on what the story is actually trying to tell us.
