don't go into the humanities because they're unprofitable and don't go into stem cuz its getting torn apart right now and don't go into buisness because it's competetive and speculative and don't go into education because it pays like shit. Just lay on thr ground. Just lay on the ground.

I keep seeing people call reddit posts and the like AI because they're "overly formal" (one example was someone texting "good evening" to their teenage child) and I do actually find that deeply hurtful as someone who has been repeatedly told that I speak and write in a stiff, overly formal way. I say good evening all the time, including to kids and teens. That's just how I talk and I don't like seeing people decide that my natural speech pattern means that someone isn't human.
It's also extremely important to remember that formal speech is almost always taught first to people learning a new language; casual speech is something you learn with time and experience and plenty of ESL speakers have said that generative AI programs like ChatGPT write like they do.
The point I'm trying to make here is when you think you can recognize AI solely through writing style, even if a specific program has a typical style, then you forget that these AI are being trained on actual people writing and speaking and you're going to end up dehumanizing people who are just trying to communicate and exist, especially neurodivergent people and people who aren't native English speakers.
girl who finally is going back to reading by finishing one book: now i'm going to read all the books in the world.
I have to assume that in the fullness of time, at least once, a mouse has used a mushroom as an umbrella.
That’s enough to keep me going.
@cryptonature Man do I have good news for you!
Also! Bonus frog!
