-i have too many story ideas, expect me to yap about one for month straight and then get distracted by a shiny new plot idea and never mention the old again, but instead proceed to yap about the new shiny idea for a month straight until…and the cycle repeats endlessly

Guys I fear my sense of humor really is way too similar to Dazai..

So I was going out for a spontaneous night-time walk on the beach with a friend… I am pretty familiar with the beach at night, but she’s never experienced it before.

She was questioning me on if its like, safe and legal to go out at night, which I found pretty funny.

Like “are there seagulls out there at night though? Do you think they’ll bother us?”

And so I, seeing this as the perfect opportunity to mess with her, replied entirely seriously: “nah, the seagulls wont be out there. The only thing we really need to worry about are the night crabs.”

Now keep in mind: this is one of my dearest childhood friends. We have quite literally known eachother since birth. She is also generally VERY smart, and is a BIOLOGY major.

But apparently I said it with SUCH seriousness that she actually started to worry… “the night crabs? What are those? I’ve never heard of those before, oh my gosh, are they dangerous??”

“Oh it makes sense you havent heard of them,” I told her, “seeing as they don’t exist.”

She punched me. Lol.

But it was worth it, because while we were out on the beach later she warily asked me MULTIPLE times if I was SURE night crabs don’t really exist…

Anyways. I may be full of shit, but I, personally, think I am hilarious.

when a government bans young people from using social media, and then categorises messenger apps like Signal and WhatsApp as "social media", they are pushing those young people toward using text messages, a fundamentally insecure form of communication. texts are not encrypted in transit and can be read by both the sender's mobile carrier and the recipient's. that also means they can be leaked in data breaches, subpoenaed, or just handed over willingly to law enforcement at the carriers' discretion.

This is why so many parents think "gentle parenting" doesn't work.

To them, "gentle parenting" means abusing them constantly then stopping for a week.

Abuse, especially from someone who they're required to live with, fully dependent on, and prohibited from defending themselves against, causes lifelong trauma. The trauma doesn't vanish when it stops being convenient. Your goal from the beginning was to traumatize them and hope the trauma would make them obedient. Now that you realize that their trauma isn't manifesting in a way that benefits you, you want it to disappear on your command.

Also, everything you listed could be a disability trait. And you never taught them how to cope with their disability. You only taught them to mask in order to avoid punishment.

If your child "becomes" autistic after hanging out with an autistic person, then they were always autistic. They were drawn to someone who sees the world in a similar way, and being around other similar people made them feel safe being themself instead of being who you want them to be.

A child is punished for moving and making noise.

To avoid more punishment, the child sits still and is quiet. But they have to actively remind themself constantly to sit still and be quiet.

The teacher sees the child sitting still and being quiet. The teacher treats this as the baseline.

Since the child is putting a lot of effort into sitting still and being quiet, doing so distracts from paying attention to what the teacher is teaching. The child then is punished for not paying attention.

The child now knows that they'll be punished no matter what they do. And they can't explain why they struggle, because any attempt to explain is arguing.
