I need some people to understand that I will absolutely ship two characters who would absolutely never get together in canon simply because I want to. No I don’t think they’re canon nor will I look for subtext that they like each other. In fact, I don’t even want them to be canon. I just like the art and fanfiction man. Like their shippers low-key got something fire going on and I wanna be a part of that. It really isn’t that deep.

The fact that one of these moves is significantly more difficult for me than the other two at least tells me which nerve is probably the most fucked up
My father is a classic layabout lazy bastard. He's the guy that people try to stereotype people on benefits as when they call them "dole bludgers". Sits in a filthy house all day whining that his wife won't clean it up, gets a great idea for a new business every few months and gives up after two weeks when it becomes clear that starting a business is hard, does everything he can to avoid doing a single scrap of work in life, uselessly drags his feet when the government forces him to actually do some.
Or at least, he was, until about three years ago, when he was sent off to do mandatory Work for the Dole at a volunteer organisation. He'd done a lot of Work for the Dole in the past, of course, and like most people who are forced to do a shitty job under the threat of starvation, was neither enthusiastic nor particularly useful. But in this particular place, he was given a job that he could do better than anyone else (he was one of 2 men working with a legion of elderly women, and the only person able to easily haul around the heavy goods that the organisation works with). He quickly found himself with a job he could understand, he could see the clear utility in, and that his coworkers greatly valued him for. He started arriving on time every day, putting in the effort, getting shit done. He started caring about the results. And when his Work for the Dole time was up, he kept volunteering.
He's one of two people paid to work in that warehouse now (the other person being the manager), and he's a lynchpin of activity there, their sole regular and reliable source of physical labour. When he takes holidays, they have to plan around it, because his consistent hard work has become such a critical asset to their work. And he's not taking nearly as many holidays as he should -- he works extra unpaid hours, lifts loads that are somewhat heavier than he should be lifting, shoulders the work of others when they need breaks, and we all have to urge him to take more days off for his health since he's not a young man any more. For my entire life this man has been a pile of old mud in the shape of a human, and the instant he found a job that fulfils his needs, he won't fucking stop. He's gonna die in that warehouse and die happy.
trying to phrase this in a way that doens't make em sound like i'm being a manic pixie dream girl etc. but it's so fucking irritating being a confident & adventurous person who also has a known bipolar diagnosis, because people will literally try to ascribe mania to any behavior they'd personally be uncomfortable doing. i'm so serious, like everything is questioned.

Y'know, to me "lost media" means "no known physical copies exist and it can't be pirated anywhere", not just "currently unavailable for streaming"
A file you can just find and download with minimal issue if you're computer literate isn't lost, actually. It's endangered, and it will be lost if nobody bothers to learn how to do this stuff, but it's not lost yet.
Like if you're grouping "there was only one copy of this episode of the beloved 60s tv show that aired before recording was possible, and they taped over it to save money while filming a commercial encouraging people to put ham in jello" with "the only known copies exist on several thousand hard drives seeding a torrent but like, I'm scared of using a VPN" that's your problem, please don't erode the meaning of this term.
kind of maddening how many people will double down on misogyny and resist any kind of feminist practice because of how mad they get at the idea of being "a misogynist"
it's the most common behaviour pretty much ever from people in positions of power but misogyny seems like it'd be really easy to accept "you live in a misogynistic society so you will speak and act in misogynistic ways sometimes". and yet!
do you reckon it comes from the same place as white people becoming incredibly defensive when you tell them "you live in a racist society so you will speak and act in racist ways sometimes" ? because some white people get really twisted up if you tell them that their behavior is racist.
i think it has to do with an idea they have in their heads of racists being moonshine swilling southern rednecks (which is also classist)
yeah indubitably. it's a favourite trick of liberal societies to simultaneously act like oppression is a completely individual experience and that "you" as an individual aware of oppression cannot enforce it, especially with racism and misogyny.
