At a time when conditions are becoming more restrictive for LGBTQ+ people in some parts of Africa, the Republic of Botswana has taken an important step in protecting LGBTQ+ rights by officially removing old colonial-era laws that banned same-sex relationships from its statute books.

This move places Botswana alongside other African countries that have decriminalised same-sex relations, including South Africa, Angola, Mozambique, Seychelles, Cape Verde, and Lesotho.

The problem is finding them, since no one's organized them all in one place with covers and episode info. I'm trying to fix that with my new website.

I say this with so, so much care: Real queer shit written by real queers can and will sometimes make you uncomfortable. That's one of the defining features of weird, independent queer media. And weird independent media more broadly. Art that comes from true individual passion and authenticity has edges and bite to it that mass market corporate products intentionally do not. Has a rawness that can offend.

You are allowed to feel uncomfortable about it. But don't ask for queers to self censor for your comfort.

is it just me or is web stuff completely out of control on memory usage now. like i know it has been for years but this is a whole new level of insanity. 32gb used to feel like a lot, now it's often getting filled. and when i feel my system chugging & hitting swap, who is always there at the top of the greediest pig list? browser tabs. often a tumblr tab ive left open in the bg that has quietly gobbled up 5gb. what could you possibly need that for.

i think dev teams need to be banned from using React and its kin on new projects until they can provably demonstrate that what they're building would be infeasible with HTMX. existing React projects that dont need React (nearly all of them) can financially compensate users for needed memory upgrades as they port to HTMX.

not in this case. cache tends to be stored on disk. this is memory usage that grows over time when the tab is sitting idle (no new images to load into cache)

This has nothing to do with AI, actually, and instead plenty to do with developers designing their websites poorly. The RAM shortage is only barely because of AI. Also Micron was planning to stop making ram at least 3 years ago because the margins weren’t good.
