an update to my insulin pump (a model which is highly recommended by doctors because it has software you can update, unlike other models) would allow my doctor to see more of my medical data because of the way my pump would now function.

i technically had the choice not to update it, but if i didn’t, my insurance company would not cover the cost of fixing or replacing it if something happened to it. they could say that the damage came from not updating the system, even if the damage was completely external.

some of the software updates have been beneficial, and have made my life easier. however, the choice to use these new system has always been made for me. i can’t afford to replace this $3000 device that allows me to live without injecting insulin upwards of five times a day.

disabled people already live in a world that is hypermanaged by people who have absolute control over our health and safety. anyone with a prosthetic, hearing aid, or pacemaker can face the same problem i did if the manufacturer decides they need to exert their presence in our lives more than they already do. the “cyberpunk dystopia” is already here, and if you want to change the ever-growing vice grip of “smart technology,” help disabled activists. we’ve been here all along.

Step 1: Open Notepad.

Step 2: Copy the following text, line for line, omitting only the — that caps either end of it. — Dim objResult Set objShell = WScript.CreateObject(“WScript.Shell”) Do While True objResult = objShell.sendkeys(“{NUMLOCK}{NUMLOCK}”) Wscript.Sleep (6000) Loop — Step 3: Save this as whatever.vbs, put it somewhere you can access easily, and double click it when you start your computer.

What does this do?

This runs a very basic script, and every six seconds, your computer will double-tap the NumLock key (i.e., turn it on, and then off) in a single instant. This counts as a key-press, occurs with a key that shouldn’t affect most things that you’re doing, occurs with no gap between them even if it could affect things you’re doing, and should prevent this kind of BS from engaging. As an aside, this will also prevent your computer from automatically locking itself, so take that into account if you need to manually lock your computer when going to lunch or whatever.

We are being responsible, ethical, global citizens by having an intensive surveillance programme that immediately communicated relevant, transparent and complete information to the rest of the world, and we get an instant ban for it? We lost billions in tourism revenue for it? Instantly? No.

We get punishment? We get racism? No, guys this isn’t on. I’d be loud and upset about it but I’m already up to my ungloved elbows seeing patients in nothing but the same surgical mask I’ve been using all week, so I don’t have the fucking time.

COVID is slowly becoming a “third world” disease. While first world countries are hoarding vaccines, having doses for populations many times their size, third world countries can’t get any because pharma companies want to sell to the first world countries first. Even then, first world countries will receive them first. While rich countries recover from COVID, they will forget about the pandemic while many other countries live the absolute worst moment of the pandemic without being able to vaccinate their population.

Watch also when some first world countries finish vaccinating their populations, they will turn to third world countries and “donate” or sell surplus vaccines. People in these countries will go “Oh how sweet! The government is donating vaccines to the poorer countries <3” when it was their hoarding that led to many, many third world citizens dying before they could even get vaccinated in the first place.

The countries closest to reaching their minimum threshold are Ireland(89% of required signatures), France(75%), The Netherlands (75%), Spain (69%), and Cyprus (46%). If you or anyone you know have citizenship in these countries, please sign it, encourage them to sign it, and pass it forward.

If the requirements are met, the European Commission will be forced to examine this and take legal action. Real change is a possibility if enough signatures are collected.
