Details about Mike's character that I picked up from the show

I refuse to believe Mike is a nothingburger of a character just bc the Duffers chose to do nothing with him.

Like Nancy, Mike was an upper middle-class (and probably slightly spoiled) child. Worse, he's a white male upper-middle class man.

Mike's grief expresses itself in the form of anger, anger towards others and anger towards himself (lashing out when will goes missing in S1, grumpy during the start of s2 cuz of El, frustrated and shit talking when El dumps him in s3 LMAOO).

Mike is self-sacrificing in nature. He'd put his own life and safety on the line for the people he cares about (pushing Troy in S1, jumping in the quarry for Dustin, staying by Will's side the entirety of s2)

Mike's not AS much of a science-y nerd that Dustin and Will seem to be. Him being coined as the "storyteller" tells me he seems more interested in writing, comic books, sci-fi fiction, etc.

I want to write a Byler fic from Mike's POV so bad because there's just like, so many details to Mike's character that could've been built on or explored that the Duffers just. Didn't touch??? But i'm not a writer and never finished any fic i've started so i just Wheeler rot festering in the brain in the form of bullet points. Will add more bullets later when I remember them.

The way Mike Wheeler has become a sort of symbol/tool for people to tell stories about repression, internalized oppression and self acceptance regarding one's homosexuality, and dealing with all of it while in a straight (and codependent) relationship for half their life, all because the Duffers fumbled the show so badly and chose to make him a nothingburger of a character is such an interesting and touching phenomenon to me.
