And here is my first artwork of the year! I started it at the end of December and finished it today. Like last year my resolution for this year is to draw and paint more frequently 😂. I achieved some positive changes in my time management and motivations last year. We will see what the future brings. Hey guys! ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿ You maybe saw my story, where I asked which light I should chose. The version with the fireflies won. I’m very happy I finally made it. This unholy artwork was cursed! I had a lot of struggle with it and when I finally hit the point where I was happy with it… I deleted it. (ಠ_ಠ)….. I don’t know how I did it. But suddenly it was gone. Even my sketch I very liked. Luckily I had a very early greyscale version of it. So pretty frustrated I started to work with that. But than I couldn’t work on it for a while. It feelt like it’s too much work, but actually it wasn’t. - Did you ever deleted an artwork you pretty much liked? - Or did you fear some work you have to do on an artwork and couldn’t finished it because of that? Do you have an advice for that?

I’m very curious about your stories and experiences.

A lot of people ask me what my biggest fear is, or what scares me most. And I know they expect an answer like heights, or closed spaces, or people dressed like animals, but how do I tell them that when I was 17 I took a class called Relationships For Life and I learned that most people fall out of love for the same reasons they fell in it. That their lover’s once endearing stubbornness has now become refusal to compromise and their one track mind is now immaturity and their bad habits that you once adored is now money down the drain. Their spontaneity becomes reckless and irresponsible and their feet up on your dash is no longer sexy, just another distraction in your busy life. Nothing saddens and scares me like the thought that I can become ugly to someone who once thought all the stars were in my eyes.

I never expected this to be my most popular poem out of the hundreds I’ve written. I was extremely bitter and sad when I wrote this and I left out the most beautiful part of that class.

After my teacher introduced us to this theory, she asked us, “is love a feeling? Or is it a choice?” We were all a bunch of teenagers. Naturally we said it was a feeling. She said that if we clung to that belief, we’d never have a lasting relationship of any sort.

She made us interview a dozen adults who were or had been married and we asked them about their marriages and why it lasted or why it failed. At the end, I asked every single person if love was an emotion or a choice.

Everybody said that it was a choice. It was a conscious commitment. It was something you choose to make work every day with a person who has chosen the same thing. They all said that at one point in their marriage, the “feeling of love” had vanished or faded and they weren’t happy. They said feelings are always changing and you cannot build something that will last on such a shaky foundation.

The married ones said that when things were bad, they chose to open the communication, chose to identify what broke and how to fix it, and chose to recreate something worth falling in love with.

The divorced ones said they chose to walk away.

Ever since that class, since that project, I never looked at relationships the same way. I understood why arranged marriages were successful. I discovered the difference in feelings and commitments. I’ve never gone for the person who makes my heart flutter or my head spin. I’ve chosen the people who were committed to choosing me, dedicated to finding something to adore even on the ugliest days.

I no longer fear the day someone who swore I was their universe can no longer see the stars in my eyes as long as they still choose to look until they find them again.

It's #mermay2019. ><,°3 Some while ago I created this mermaid for a prototype app game of a school project. I modeled, rigged, textured and animated it. The design was kind of an accident, a go with the flow (pun intended!). I like the outcome. I think her face is looking like kind of a Spiderman-Mermaid (๑❛ꇳ❛๑). I remember first learning that you can cry from any emotion, that emotions are chemical levels in your brain and your body is constantly trying to maintain equilibrium. so if one emotion sky rockets, that chemical becomes flagged and signals the tear duct to open as an exit to release that emotion packaged neatly within a tear. Everything made sense after learning that. That sudden stability of your emotions after crying. How crying is often accompanied by the inability to feel any other emotion in that precise moment. And it is especially beautiful knowing that it is even possible to experience so much beauty or love or happiness that your body literally can’t hold on to all of it. So what I’ve learned is that crying signifies that you are feeling as much as humanely possible and that is living to the fullest extent. So keep feeling and cry often and as much as needed

Also let yourself cry. It really is a biochemical release valve to dump out all the chemicals that make you feel stuff.

I honestly think one reason men in western culture have so many problems is that we don’t let them cry, and literally their brains get stuffed with all this crap that doesn’t have a release valve. Men, please cry. You’ll feel better. It’s ok. You are not lesser for taking care of your health.

This is why tears from different emotions look different under an electron microscope. They’re literally made up of different things. 

Happy tears are structurally different than sad tears than angry tears than overwhelmed tears etc.

Fun fact, I had a tendonitis and started this artwork with my left hand to favor my right hand. But that didn't last for long. I admire artists, who can also paint with the none dominant hand or just DO IT with the none dominant hand, but I'm definetly not one of them.
