She just relaxed in the peaceful quiet surrounding them, noting the precise moments Scorpius' breathing changed, when he relaxed, and when he fell back asleep.

Apparently this was all he needed to relax his mind back to dreamland.

When he brought his other thumb to his mouth, Hermione didn't correct it. She let him sleep.

He was tired.

And so was she.

The next time Hermione opened her eyes, the world was a warm, hazy fog of confusion and passed time. It could have been minutes, it could have been hours, but everything slowly crept into focus. It took several blinks for her to put the pieces together where she was, more still to determine how she wound up so warm and with a crick in her neck. Wedged on her side, the cushions were at her back. Then she realised. Scorpius was at her front, gripping the arm that she had wrapped around him.
