As soon as he felt the other near him his hands were draped around him protectively and an affectionate, warm kiss was pressed in Erestor’s hair. It felt so wonderfully comforting to have his husband’s warmth against him.
At Erestor’s comment Gil-Galad listened to his words curiously, waiting for him to continue patiently in silence and as guided, he carefully moved to sit down, trusting his beloved. The utter trust came easy when Erestor was around, whether in this state or not; Erestor had achieved it quickly once the High King had found his heart stolen by this particular elf.
He smiled softly as the other then settled beside him and held his hand. It made him wonder did Erestor actually feel how relieved his touch made him.
"No", he said then, baffled, after a moment of ponder about the younger one’s words. "No, that is ridiculous, Erestor. Elrond needs you. He is, in fact lucky to have you work for him!" Gil-Galad gave a slight dry laughter. "Do not worry about me, my love. I am fine. I have got a lot to do, too… Let us just continue as if nothing had ever happened, shall we?"
Erestor was glad that his deep frown remained hidden to the high king's sight. He certainly had an advantage now when it came to their interactions, Gil-Galad only had his words and his tone to read him, not his expressions and body language anymore. As a diplomat, used to to study every person most carefully to read them as thoroughly as possible, this sounded quite horrifying, the fact that not even reading was possible anymore aside.
He did not want this for his husband. Gil-Galad did not deserve such torment, he was a proud, strong, noble elf who had achieved greatness on his throne and the battlefield. He deserved to see his conquests and how even today, years after his reign, he was still admired and revered. The counselor had sought a certain book in the library, one that had suggested that the travel alone possessed a healing factor and he had hopes that if only they boarded a ship, the king's eye-sight would be restored.
"Elrond needs me indeed." he agreed, trying not to sound too grave and concerned. "Until he found a new one for the position. I have wedded you and you have my love, my utmost concern. Elrond can have a different chief counselor. Your eyes have to be mended, and sailing west might do exactly that." Pallid hands squeezed the high king's encouragingly, they were much stronger than Erestor's. "I have stayed here long enough and we could return anytime we wanted. Consider it." He leaned against his husband, Gil-Galad's shoulder warm against his cheek.
