True theater kid entrance 😂
It is wild having Claudia and Armand as two of your favourite characters because they couldn’t be more at odds, but it also comes with the realisation that they were made to be best friends but the universe (Anne) had other plans.
Seriously, Claudia is maybe one of the only vampires out there who could even begin to sympathise with all Armand has been put through. She’s still a baby vamp compared to him, but there is definitely overlap between them.
And I know Armand has a thousand undiagnosed and potentially undiscovered mental illnesses from all his trauma contributing to why he was never going to be able to care about Claudia, but damn. It sucks that they never connected because they would’ve been so good for each other. That’s just yet another layer to add to the tragedy of it all.
im aware armand does wrong and always will do wrong but you have to understand that this doesnt mean he is a bad person (he is)
The meaning, origin and history of the given name Aruna
Don't know why I didn't think to look this up sooner.
I'M FINE THIS IS FINE EVERYTHING IS FINE
He only was the sun he was the dawn, the thing that distinguishes humans from (young) vampires like nothing else. The thing with all the bright and hopeful symbolism attached to it. Was.
Still haven't read the books but Marius is the god in "Amadeo", of course 🔪
And this is the most tenuous one but he was sent off to Paris as the Roman coven's little soldier

It's an art you partake in and just know / You all paid to watch, let's start the show

Happy 20th anniversary to They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard specifically
Finally watched Interview with the Vampire, and I can say:
I don't ship anyone with anyone in that series to be quite frank. (Except Madeline and Claudia.)
What I really want is for Louis to get better taste in men, Armand to find 20 therapists and cycle through all their rounds of therapy, for Lestat to learn to be satisfied with himself as he is, and Daniel to get the fuck away from all three of them and NEVER look back.
Sadly though... we wouldn't have a show if any of the cast excersised any of this.
if someone tells you that you need to find another show to watch when you utter criticism over it, that's the devil speaking. if someone tells you that you hate the show you're talking about, then you get to ignore them. if someone says that you're being dramatic when you're disappointed about something in a show, then they are wrong. no media is immune to criticism, even the critically acclaimed stuff, even the objectively good stuff. if you are a woman/poc/disabled person/etc and you're talking about how your demographic is treated in said media, you can and should be loud about it. criticising something doesn't mean you hate it, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. discussing flaws isn't hate. you can love a piece of media and still have criticisms. you can like flawed media. these people are trying to push you out of the fandom, don't let them.
I am unwell waiting for this season 😭
cats when they see a laser pointer
When you’re in the middle of a fic and realise you’ve missed a very critical tag
and then you close the book and go find something else to read instead of harassing the author who did in fact warn you that was in there
i’m so glad that iwtv is brave enough to show real queer joy in these times— nobody dies of aids, no queerbaiting, just happy, escapist media about gay people in incestuous relationships with their transmasc mothers, gay people beating up and murdering each other, and the queer joy of finally allowing yourself to be a drug addled rock star haunted by your past
I don't like the interpretation that for vampires biting = sex tbh like that's not even true. Biting is a form of intimacy but not all form of intimacy is sex. And when people say biting is automatically sexual assult it drives me crazy! Sometimes the biting can be interpreted as sexual (Louis feeding on ArmandRashid) and if they're doing it without concent it can be an metaphor for sexual assult/rape (Lestat turning Louis can be seen as sexual coercion, or when Lestat bites him before dropping him from the sky can be interpreted as marital rape). But often times the biting is just violence and therefore it can be seen as physical assult/abuse (Louis biting Daniel, vamps feeding on humans in general). It can also just be a form of intimacy, a show of trust in a non sexual way (the theater coven biting Claudia and the turning of Madeline).
I love Baby Jenks’ description from Queen of the Damned:
“Oh, yeah, snap, when she'd gotten her hands on his neck, and the blood came, it had been just fine, it was hamburgers and french fries and strawberry shakes, it was beer and chocolate sundaes. It was mainline, and coke and hash. It was better than screwing! It was all of it.”
Like it can really be anything depending on the context and I don’t think it’s always a complete and total equivalent of anything yet it can also be a bunch of things at once. IMO best interpretations would be based in context and aware of biases.
