That's the thing - it is totally embarrassing at this point. Anyone in the industry knows this is being pushed by Louis' team with syndicated stories and social media posts from the js and anyone looking closely can tell how over it Louis' been since the start. It is embarrassing for Sony, Syco, Epic, SJPR, every person involved with continuing this joke for 2 1/2 years. It seems like a horrible business decision that they're too stubborn to end.

i think you’ve hit the nail on the head in some respects. i think they’re a bit afraid to end it because they know that may open the can of worms since it was so obviously a stunt and was called a stunt so when it does end, there may be people saying….wait, that’s what those fans were saying all along. Most people in the general public don’t care and aren’t following this. So they need to put on their big boy pants and just end it. Take your lumps and move on already. 

i think part of it is used as punishment for louis. it’s a way of keeping him held by the balls. it’s probably the biggest thing they have to “control” him at the moment so i think they’re a bit reluctant to let go of that as well.
