Second go around of dating and Buck begs Tommy to go to brunch with Maddie so they can actually get to know each other this time. It's mostly fine, kind of awkward but they make conversations like any 40-somethings thrown together by a mutual connection.
It only really gets good until there's a moment of silence a little too long for Tommy's liking and he says, "So. We talked about most of the stuff we have in common. Heard you killed your abusive ex-husband in self-defense. I killed my abusive Dad in defense of my mother. Want to order the endless mimosa bucket and talk about that?"
Maddie is thrown for a second, eyes wide, but in the face of another 40-something that's just a little too haunted to be normal, she breaks and says, "you know what? Yeah. Let's fucking talk about that."
Buck picks them up an hour and a half later from where they've stumbled away from the brunch spot, too tipsy for 2:47 PM on a Sunday, giggling and leaning against each other. He's happy this worked but he's a little worried when Tommy grabs him by the shoulders and says "Evan. Evan we would kill for you. You know that right? I'm serious." and Maddie just repeats the word "kill" and nods from Tommy's side.
... that really would improve their relationship.
And be great to see on tv.
How do we get you in the writer's room...
