John Adams: Jefferson, I have something I need to get off my chest...
Thomas: Your shirt? Please tell me it's your shirt
So, long story short... my 1776 DVD was included in the police report
Adams and Jefferson: We have created political parties. Washington: You've fucked up a perfectly good country is what you did. Look at it, it's got anxiety.
*states begin violently vibrating*
Reblog if you believe in John Adams.
âI was born with glass bones and paper skin. Every morning i break my legs and every afternoon i break my arms. Every night I lie awake in agony until my heart attacks put me to sleep.â
-Caesar Rodney
The play is actually very accurate about the character of Caesar Rodney. He did have cancer and was well known for wearing a (specifically) green patch on his head. Historical accuracy on point.
While thatâs true, the cancer hadnât grown as such until later in life. During the summer of 1776, Rodney was a (relatively) young man. He HAD gone home, and he did have to make it back for the vote, however this was due to a fever.
I thought he didnât go home, but had to travel to Sussex to monitor Tory activity for the army.
Just going to... put this here... http://www.nycitycenter.org/Home/Blog/March-2016/Fact-Checking-1776 (because we all need this in our lives)
well @sunshineapollo thank you
I can just hear Ben Franklin jerking off from 300 years in the past

I imagine that every time he waves his arms during this, he is sprinkling salt all around him (because good god he is nothing but salty during this whole song, and I love it)
1776: a musical about the founder fathers making dick jokes and sexting their wives
The way William Daniels says âolive branchâ like if you agree
Benjamin the wingman
1776 is such a good musical like??
itâs got its inaccuracies, thatâs inevitable with anything historically based esp when youâre taking creative license and trying to fit things into two and a half hours, and thereâs a distinct lack of women, but still
the actor who plays Rutledge can s i n g oh my gosh, everyone in this musical can sing really well
the way John and Abigail play off one another and her tone when she says âpinsâ and theyâre the same height just kind of staring each other down and John just kinda âyep okay Iâll get your pins bbyâ theyâre so in love
He Plays The Violin is pure innuendo and I didnât understand a bit of it the first time?? and several rewatches later I appreciate it fully bless
Mama, Look Sharp makes me c r y and maybe itâs not the saddest song in a musical but itâs up there I will fight someone on this
on the subject of fighting someone Iâm always up to fight our boy TJeffs but the scene where heâs sitting in the dark trying to write and keeps throwing two and three-word drafts over his shoulder and then a week later he hasnât left his room, hasnât shaved, the floor is covered in papersâŠâŠ.. relatable
kegs of saltpeter tied neat with blue ribbon
âJohn Iâm not even speaking to youâ âItâs too late for that damMIT THERES WORK TO BE DONEâ
the way Thompson reads the last dispatch, and his voice is shaking, and he finally gets it under control only for his hands to shake and you can see the paper crinkling in his grip
the ever-classic âitâs a revolution, dammit! weâre going to have to offend SOMEBODYâ
GWash is great even tho he never makes an appearance, âI have been in expectation of receiving a reply on the subject of my last fifteen dispatchesâ thatâs how you eloquently drag someone for not texting you back
possibly more to follow as the movie finishes but Iâm keeping up tradition by watching this again on the Fourth as I have done for years
Appreciation đ
