I'm fed up with "maybe later".
My favorite spiritual tool
This necklace means a lot to me, and holds a lot of magical significance. A while ago i filled glass tear drop bottles with morning shower rain water and made them into beads, today i added a couple to this necklace. This necklace is filled with energies of protection, good luck, love, connection, and wishes. I use morning showers rain water like holy water.
I could go on and on about what's inside it and on it but we'd kinda be here all day, but a few things inside are moldavite, dirt from a tree that grows in the middle of a 3 way crossroads, and graveyard dirt.
I think you're right to say that sex is a sacred thing for many, but the counterpoint is that sacredness requires a power structure to enforce it, and it's this same sexual power structure that is the basis of like, patriarchy and heterosexuality, and thus is the object of protest for queer and feminist projects—and unless you can convince these groups of why/how sex can be sacred for them without continuing as a force for the oppression that they are resisting you won't get very far
I take it by "sacred" you mean something like "afforded social esteem and respect by the culture." Then from there we're supposed to think "Well, in order for something to afforded esteem, we need to have norms in place that train people to show the proper kind of respect." So I suppose this looks something like "Different portrayals of sex are going to have to be subject to the praise and blame behavior that comes with norms." And given that the relevant norms are supposed to be about sex, we end up having to be worried that the model portrayals of sexuality are going to be heterosexual and patriarchal. So it's better to just not have any norms about this or to have self-consciously feminist ones.
So I take it not having norms is just not an option. Or at least representing the world in a value neutral way is kind of impossible. And I take it a lot of feminist projects are actually deeply invested in sexual agency or sexuality having a special normative character, insofar as we think sexual assault is quite a bit worse than more mundane kinds of physical assault. So I think the burden of proof is actually in showing that "sacredness" necessitates a description of the sexual act that is patriarchal or heteronormative. It seems at least intelligible to think that sex should be regarded seriously and that lesbian sex is good, for example. And we have options for disarming the sort of attacks that involve saying that there's something fundamentally unserious about, say, anal sex that don't involve blowing up the more important parts of the norm structure.
---
In my opinion, there is no need for any power structure to enforce sacredness.
Example: The woods, all woods, are sacred to me.
It does not matter if either of you agree or not.
I would call this scene "home", except the biggest stream there is about 6 feet narrower.

Haven't seen anyone talking about it here, but vocal transfeminist and writer Tara Knight has been sent a threat from the fbi insisting that she stop speaking about "radical gender ideology" and get rid of the past 3 years of her work.
A black trans woman is getting personally threatened by the fbi for being a transfeminist. What the fuck. Hopefully this gets more reach than my usual posts so that people who are able to can support her.
It is not impossible for the FBI to do what has been claimed. It is still irresponsible to spread panic among marginalized people through ru
While I'm not denying this is something that happens at all, I really want to say that this is very much misinformation, and I highly suggest reading this article. It's absolutely a scary time for trans people, especially for transfems and trans people of color, but this is irresponsible and isn't helping at all.
Update, btw
Tara has admitted the FBI letter was fake.
please don’t share this without context!
Tara did not fake the letter, she later learned it was fake. She really received what she thought was an authentic letter written by the FBI, and she naturally responded in fear. Sure, she didn’t do due diligence before reporting on it (neither did yall when reblogging this…) but she’s not a scammer or a grifter! The hate she’s receiving is disgusting and if she wasn’t a Black trans woman I don’t think she’d be receiving 1/10th of the backlash she is now.
When discussing the wage gap, it's important to take a multi-faceted approach, as trying to understand it through simply "paid less" gives you a rather incomplete answer. Feminist have been talking about this for ages so this is not a new conversation in the slightest.
Men working the same jobs in the same companies as women are paid more, on average about 15c more to the dollar. In other words, for every cis man's 1 dollar, cis women make about 85c.
However, cis women are also often ignored for promotions in favor of lesser qualified, less tenured cis men. This widens the wage gap significantly, because it means while cis men have a lot of upward mobility, cis women are often stuck in entry level or mid level positions and never make it further.
Additionally, it is less likely for a cis woman to be hired for particular jobs that are considered male-dominated, and male-dominated jobs are often the higher paying jobs. This means that cis women are often denied even a foot in the door let alone equal pay.
Further, cis women are also frequently skipped over when applying to college or other post-secondary schools, which means they are often denied the qualifications needed in order to even have a chance at applying to that cushy STEM job anyway.
AND families are often less willing to spend the money on a woman's college than a man's, as are banks which may subsidize a loan.
AND girls are often discouraged from habits and hobbies that may develop into job skills for these higher paying jobs, while boys are often encouraged in these habits and hobbies, leading to girls being less likely to even pursue higher education in the first place.
So when it comes to the claim about trans men being favored in wages, one also has to break it down in a similar way. Trans men often- but not always- experience all of these barriers to employment as well as transphobia and queerphobia as systems to add to the misogyny referenced above.
So to say a trans man makes more than a cis woman, you have to ask how that could come to pass. Does he pass really well and no one knows he's transgender because his papers are all changed? Then yes, he will almost assuredly be treated like a cis man. But in this same company, do you believe that the moment a trans man thinks to himself "maybe I'm a boy" is immediately handed a promotion and a raise for being such a wonderful male worker? Do you think Patricia can go to her boss and tell her actually his pronouns are he/him and he's going as Patrick now, and Patrick's boss is like "oh shit I underpaid this clearly manliest of mans whoops"
It should be blindingly obvious that the wage gap is something even bigger than "paid less", because to be completely honest there are so many facets to this.
So the funniest difference between me and kiddo's previous foster mother is that she was telling me I've gotta call ahead and make sure all the staff at the hairdressers know kiddo is trans so they don't misgender him, and make sure they know he's a foster kid so they understand why it's me taking him and not his real mum and all that, and I've just said nah that's not how you do it.
I go to the barber, I say "my son would like a haircut", they do not question me about whether he is my son on either point. This has worked perfectly so far. You just don't give anyone a reason to question you? If I say he is my son it is so unbelievably rude for someone else to go "um are you sure?".
But yesterday the barbers apprentice looked at him and asked if he is getting a woman's cut, and instead of arcing up and explaining trans theory and respect for kiddos gender to someone who I knew heard me the first time and had clocked him, I just channeled the spirit of a Christian Mother In The Toy Aisle and said "well, he is a boy so no, he will have a boys cut".
Shuts down bullshit immediately! Nobody wants to be yelled at by someone's Karen mother! Kiddo does not hear this little pricks opinion on trans people or get humiliated by being outed in the barbers. You do not have to tell people all your intimate details! You certainly do not have to tell people all your kids intimate details either, especially if you think they'll be a target.
As a trans woman and honorary mom friend to all trans kids everywhere, thank you for everything about this. It restores my faith in humanity to see someone doing trans parenting right.
i gotta remember this
So huh, you "gotta" remember this?
Now you are scared of not remembering?
Please notice that you don't "gotta" do anything in particular.
Maybe take a deep breath and think what you would like to remember of yourself later?
Maybe take another derp breath, and consider what one small step in that direction would look like?
Maybe take another few deep breaths while you use Duck Duck Go to find out more about this thing or this first step?
Maybe learning something new about it is an actual useful step?
Flappy Happy is a small Canadian business run by two autistic women. We ship all of our products from Vancouver Island, BC!
When it comes to getting fidgets in Canada, we've often noticed how difficult it is to get fidgets at reasonable prices. We aim to run our business while having the lowest profit margins we can to stay afloat.
We offer free shipping on Canadian shipments of orders of $70 CAD or more (and we have a lot of products, so it's not too hard to hit this amount! Especially if you combine orders with a friend). We also offer lettermail rates for applicable products (like our spinner rings). Our highest shipping charge is $15 CAD when shipping parcel, so know that once you hit that point, it won't go any higher.
When searching for fidget items, the vast majority are marketed towards children or the parents of children. We wanted to focus on adults that need fidgets. This partially comes from us wanting to say it’s okay to use fidgets (more than okay!), but also us wanting to include more discreet fidget items for those that may need or want them.
Some of our more discreet items include: fidget earrings, spinner rings, fidget necklaces and calm strips. A couple of our quiet items are marble mazes, and infinity yarn. We also aim to offer silicone chew necklaces in styles that are more discreet and stylish looking for adults who like to stim by chewing.
Our website is here!
We appreciate any help spreading the word!
Heyo pause for a moment.
I’ve spent my life trying to push through, to be useful, to work even when my body screamed at me to stop. But that ended the other night, when I collapsed at my job. I ended up sobbing on the sidewalk, under the streetlights, because I couldn’t even stand up to get home due to the pain in my lower back and hip, I have what's called Tethered Spinal Cord, and despite surgery at 16 to address it, it has continued to deteriorate, my entire lower body is now shot.
My body has nothing left to give.
Now, I’ve finally been forced to accept what my doctor has been saying for years: I am too disabled to work. It’s not just something I can pass off as exhaustion or needing to do better. It’s real. It’s official. I’ve started the long process of applying for disability, and I’m reaching out to lawyers, trying to do everything right this time.
But the system doesn’t help you while you wait.
Right now, my household is in crisis. My bank account is overdrawn by nearly $200. I owe $1,200 in rent this month. I don’t have income. I have only what I can ask for, and I hate having to ask, but I need to.
If you’re able, I’m asking for help. Whether it’s a donation, a boost, or just holding space for me during this really hard moment. Anything helps, and I mean that.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for your care. I’m doing my best to keep going.
in your most recent tyson post, you said something about leo being distinctly autistic-coded and I was wondering if you could elaborate on that? it sounds really interesting (sorry if you've already posted something on this, I couldn't find anything though)
Of course! I do have a specific tag for talking about Leo's autistic-coding/traits - [here], and [one for Nico as well].
The main aspects with Leo being autistic-coded actually have a lot to do with Nico being autistic-coded, because it's the comparisons between the two that most clearly indicate Leo is autistic-coded rather than it just being his ADHD or etc.
So with Nico being autistic-coded, it's very clear in the Titan's Curse that he's intended to be autistic. First, the first series has a repeating pattern of secondary characters being very distinctly neurodivergent-coded in different ways (Annabeth's adhd/dyslexia, Tyson's down syndrome-coding, Nico's autism-coding). With Nico's introduction, he's pretty stereotypically autistic and we're given a lot of descriptors about him that are notably not attributed to him being ADHD, like it would be for other demigod characters. He doesn't register social cues such as people getting annoyed at him, he's asking/making inappropriate or impolite questions/comments, he gets particularly upset about change (such as Bianca joining the Hunt) and generally gets emotional, and one of his most notable traits he's introduced with is the fact that he has a special interest (MythoMagic) - and we're shown that this special interest particularly colors how Nico navigates the world. While ADHD has hyperfixations, we don't really get much acknowledgement of hyperfixations with demigods usually - Annabeth gets a little, but most others don't and it's not nearly as focused-in on as Nico's is.
Then as the series continues we see these traits stick with him and him start to show or voice more traits that similarly indicate he's autistic: He regularly mentions how he doesn't understand living people and prefers the company of the dead (social issues). He has more notable stims than other demigods (twisting his ring, fiddling with bones, etc). He's indicated to have strong sensory preferences (usually wearing mostly black/aversion to bright colors, usually wearing layers/his coat, multiple times he's described as wearing loose/baggy clothing or clothes too big for him). He has specific comfort items (his ring, likely his jacket(s) as well). We later get even more information about his special interests (Mythomagic/mythology/history and an older interest in pirates - the latter he specifically notes likely heavily influenced his feelings towards Percy). He struggles with emotions and facial expressions and tone. He struggles particularly with ostracism and feeling like he doesn't fit in and has something distinctly different about him from the people around him (who notably, all have ADHD, which indicates it isn't the ADHD that's making him feel that way), and other characters regularly describe him as being off-putting because of his strange behaviors - again, different from specific ADHD traits they recognize. And that last point is kind of notable because we have Hazel and Bianca for comparison - we know people are off-put by both Nico and Hazel because of being children of Hades/Pluto and their powers/aura, but other characters get past that general feeling of discomfort way faster with Hazel. And even after characters get past the death stuff with Nico, there's a second thing that they aren't moving past that isn't a factor with Hazel (Nico's autism).
So that brings us to Leo - Leo is paralleled to Nico a lot. And there's some very specific traits about him that we know are autistic-coding because of how they're used with Nico: He similarly struggles with social cues/etc, and in a very similar parallel to Nico describes how he prefers the company of machines to people because machines make more sense to him. He has similar types of clothing/sensory preferences (again some stuff with layers but also - pockets! He likes having pockets and things to put stuff in! He's even introduced as having a jacket with lots of pockets), and he has a distinct special interest (machinery) that we specifically know heavily influences how he views and navigates the world (constantly comparing things to machinery, describing things with machinery metaphors/terminology, etc etc). He even describes his entire general worldview to Hazel and it's a machine metaphor. He also similarly struggles with ostracization like Nico does, the only difference being that Leo specifically puts on a persona to compensate for areas he knows he's lacking in and very explicitly describes it as a means to make people like him, because without it he normally struggles to fit in (He's masking!). We also see notes of characters describing that similar discomfort with Leo's behaviors that they do with Nico, except without the aura of death this time. And when we're in Leo's POVs we see a very stark difference between his masking and his actual personality/behaviors such as his internal dialogues or how he behaves when he's alone. Also, like Nico, he stims more than other demigods, though for Leo it's more attributed to his ADHD. Leo also, more often than most, similarly struggles with tone and reading the room, such as making misplaced jokes/comments or etc.
But yeah! It's really interesting. Also it's just a fun thing that ADHD/dyslexia and autism have comorbidity, so it makes sense that we see demigods who are also autistic. It's also really fun to look at how other characters are coded in the series, what coding looks like in the riordanverse specifically (usually it's tied into the mythological stuff - like Chiron being in a wheelchair but he's actually a centaur, Grover being introduced as having a muscular disease but he's actually a satyr, demigods having adhd/dyslexia, Tyson being coded as having down syndrome but he's a cyclops, etc etc - it's a lot of specific metaphor stuff that I've talked about a bit before), and to look at how characters are compared to one another.
