Self-Typing Reminder
Okay, so this not only happened to me (and most of my friends as they learned MBTI) but I see it happen a lot online, so I want to address it.
Your dominant function is unconscious – you use it so much, and are so good at it, it’s hard for you to recognize it when you’re using it unless you already know it’s there. Once you find your right type, you start noticing what you’re doing when you’re doing it – but the process of figuring that out is hard.
The biggest mistake I see people make is noticing their lower functions (they do not use them unconsciously, thus they pay attention when they show up) and assuming they are higher. You can tell higher from lower functions based on how mature the function is and how it manifests. An EXFP might notice their Te because they use it, and they feel drawn to being logical, detached, and getting things done – and think they’re a TJ until they meet a real one. If self-aware, they will see how much harder it is for them to use Te all day than for the TJ.
The ISXP will notice tert-Ni and think how intuitive they are – until they meet a Ni-dom. The comparison is enormous. One is a literal way of perception that guides each concept that crosses their mind (INXJ), the other is thin hunches, insights, and the desire for intuitive depth.
The higher the function, the stronger it is, and the more it works as it should. High Ne - good at instinctively knowing things, trusting hunches, and thinking in multiple directions on demand, focusing on the wider implications. Auxiliary Ne - does all of that, except it’s always guided by Fi or Ti, which will rule out anything Ti or Fi does not like. Tertiary Ne - playful, funny, reads into things, but not with as much accuracy as high Ne. Inferior Ne - good for writing books and having fun, but doesn’t place much faith in hunches, has no depth to their intuition.
Same goes for high Ni vs. low Ni – high Ni: depth of intuition, inferior Ni: no depth of intuition. High Te - effortless logic and organizational skills; low Te - hard logic, no depth of organizational skills. High Ti - effortless internal frameworks and logical consistency; low Ti - no depth of logic, shallow internal frameworks. High Se - knows how to impact the environment for immediate change, confident in doing so; low Se - shallow impact and awareness. High Si - effortless comparison to former similar situations, strong memory for detail; low Si - shallow comparisons to former situations, zero detail awareness. Etc.
The nice thing is, whatever you suck at, you are AMAZING at your dominant.
So, to combat this problem, you have to pay attention to several things:
Your own defensiveness over a function (usually indicates its lower)
The functions you notice the most (require the most effort – thus, lower)
What you admire most in other people (often they’re using competently your weakest functions, and you have function envy)
Ego can get tangled up in finding a “cool” type and sticking with it, but what you want is your ACTUAL type so you can work on self-development, noticing your blind spots, and working to correct them. You want to be the best ___ you can be, not a “fake” anything.
So, your weaknesses have to match up to your type’s weaknesses. This goes for Enneagram and MBTI.
Just as a reminder, the weaknesses of each type:
ESXP: poor at envisioning future outcomes for their actions or thinking about it.
ENXP: poor at retaining details, specifics, or what actually happened.
EXFJ: poor at detaching from their feelings, and forming consistent arguments.
EXTJ: poor at recognizing / respecting their emotions and handling them.
IXFP: poor at organizing their time for maximum efficiency and sticking to it.
IXTP: poor at reading other people’s emotions and responding appropriately.
INXJ: poor at being aware of sensory input and can ignore outside evidence.
ISXJ: poor at developing and trusting hunches and weak abstraction.
Good luck!

ENFJ: waking you up at 3 a.m. for snuggles because they felt neglected while you were sleeping
ENFP: cat-walking around the house as if they own it (they do) and twitching their butt/tail in greeting like a queen waving
ESFJ: sitting on your lap and looking at your phone/laptop as if they want to know what’s going in the little glowy box
ESFP: rolling over to show you their belly and then when you approach running towards whatever they want
ENTJ: judging you silently from the window as you go about your everyday life because you stupid human
ENTP: running around the house as though possessed for no apparent reason besides boredom
ESTJ: sitting on the same spot on the corner of your bed for hours and expecting you to feed them your food

ENTP: “Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” – Muhammad Ali

update
first of all: wow, i've missed this blog. a lot has changed since i last came on here! first of all, my relationship with INTP came to an end a bit less than a year ago. long story short, some things took the wrong turn and we decided that we were both better off. i hope we can be friends again in the future. that was also quite a difficult time of my life to manage so I kind of drifted from Tumblr. i'm keeping all my INTP x ENFJ posts of course and still think it's one hell of a powerful pairing. ^-^ secondly, i've changed my work place recently and have got a whole bunch of new awesome colleagues to have MBTI fun with. the company also uses MBTI as a methodology to understand each other better, i love it. and i'm also dating again! i'm proud of myself for taking the step. my world was turned upside down by an ENFP... looks like i love me some intuitive perceivers, lol. it's crazily fun, romantic, loving, supportive and spontaneous! every day of my life since meeting the ENFP has been an adventure. i can't wait to tell you all more about how it works out. see you all around soon <3

functions.
Hey everyone,
If you had to describe the functions, how would you describe them?
This is my basic concept of the functions:
Ne - seeks new ideas and inspiration
Se - seeks new experiences and change
Si - seeks stability and past experiences
Ni - seeks abstract meaning
Te - seeks effectiveness and goal completion
Fe - seeks social norms, unity and harmony
Ti - seeks precision and inner logic
Fi - seeks inner harmony
Are there things that need to be added or removed?
Anyways, have a nice day,
~x Z.
Notes on Function Maturity
Immature Si: I only seek details that make me comfortable while ignoring or downplaying important details that might require me to change course Mature Si: I prepare myself to perform well by methodically learning and attending to every new or significant detail that each situation brings
Immature Ni: I believe I know how the world works though I can’t see myself accurately and don’t know how to live my own life meaningfully Mature Ni: I make positive progress because I possess a deep and meaningful vision of who I should be and what I contribute to the world
Immature Ti: I follow my own rules and principles without really understanding exactly how my actions influence the world at large Mature Ti: I seek precise knowledge of what impact my thoughts/behaviors produce so as to act coherently without harm, bias, or hypocrisy
Immature Fi: I can only see as far as my own values and suffering so I can’t formulate a factual and objective understanding of the world at large Mature Fi: I seek deep understanding of human experience in order to act with integrity and work to prevent/alleviate suffering for myself and others
Immature Se: I simply react as circumstances dictate without enough consideration for whether the direction is the right one to take Mature Se: I seek out new/positive learning experiences and fully appreciate that the unexpected can teach me to be more adaptable to life’s changes
Immature Ne: My mind is unable to conceptualize the best ideas or grasp the most promising opportunities for making progress in life Mature Ne: I am confident in making continual progress because I can work out many viable paths to approach any situation or difficult problem
Immature Te: I utilize power to shape the world into what I want it to be and fail to realize that my actions do not produce universally positive results Mature Te: I utilize my strengths to get positive results for all and work to improve my weaknesses so as to minimize negative or harmful behaviors
Immature Fe: I only care about others in terms of how they affect me and fail to treat them as individuals with their own unique needs/experiences Mature Fe: I can see other people objectively and separately from myself and respond to their needs appropriately and compassionately
