I really don't like the Netflix live action Avatar.
I mean this with no disrespect to the actors, crew members, animators, or anyone who worked hard on this show. You're doing your best, and you do NOT deserve hate or mean comments from anonymous internet people.
I'll be honest I've only seen clips so maybe it's better in show and I'm just picky. But I really don't want to watch something that will just make me upset. My country is being ran by a pants shitting man baby who destroys everything he touches, so I really want my escapist media to be something I would enjoy. I'm purposely avoiding stuff I know I won't like because why waste what little time I have not wage slaving.
One scene I saw was the dinner scene with the Beifongs.
How hard would it have been to have her write in braille?
It would be great representation. Toph was born blind but she is from a very wealthy family, so it could make sense that they would get her a tutor just to not have an illerate daughter.
There could be a scene in the library episode where Aang finds a book in braille and wants to give it to Toph so she can enjoy a book like they get to. Only to leave the library and find that Toph couldn't save Appa. Imagine the heartbreak.
Maybe I'm blinded by nostalgia but all the changes I hear about just sound like missed opportunities for character moments. Avatar was my childhood, it was one of few things my family could bond over. I remember watching the end of Book 2 with them all glued to screen. No arguments, no insults, just everyone watching in quiet awe as we saw Azula strike Aang down. My mom even gasped and this was the second episode she watched. We would constantly check the TV for the newest episode and when it did come out we watched together. It was my favorite memory from a turbulent time in my life.
