Prompt #20
“You promised you’d never use your powers on me.”
The first time he said it, it was a whisper against my throat, soft and warm in a winter I thought would never end.
The second time, it was now.
He stands on the cracked tiles of what used to be our apartment, eyes wide with something that might be fear, might be love, maybe both. His hands tremble like they used to when he reached for mine in the dark. Only this time, he’s reaching for a weapon.
And me?
I’m glowing. A soft, golden light bleeding from the cracks in my skin, leaking out from every place I broke trying to be enough for him.
"You promised," he says again, his voice cracking like the glass beneath our feet. “You promised you’d never use them on me.”
I look at my hands. My fingers are shaking too, but not from fear. Not anymore.
“You promised you’d stay,” I say, quieter. Not accusing—just tired. “You promised you wouldn’t run.”
He flinches.
"And yet..." I glance around us. At the ruin. At the silence. At the fact that the last time I saw him, he was walking away with her blood on his hands. "Here we are."
He opens his mouth to say something, maybe to beg, maybe to lie again.
But I’m done listening to promises.
Prompt #19
"You know, in all my years as a villain, I've never seen someone break down so easily."
"What are you talking about?" Hero was highly confused by all of it. First, Sidekick disappears, then, they're kidnapped.
"Oh, dear Hero. I'm talking about this." Villain turns on a monitor, showing Sidekick, crying, all full of blood, their clothes all ripped off, alone in a dark, cold, small room. Sidekick was claustrophobic, so the room alone was a lot for them.
"Wha-what did you do? "How could you?" It was just a lot for Hero. They had sworn to protect the kid, but they had failed. They had failed the kid. How could Sidekick trust them ever again? "They're just a kid, Villain!"
"So? If they wanna play a Hero, they'll get the full experience."
"You're sick!" Hero was furious, how could someone be so calm after torturing a child?
"Nah, I'm just showing the kid the reality of the world."
Hero moved to attack, but Villain had put a power suppressing collar on them, so it was basically a suicidal move to try to fight Villain, still, that's what made them a Hero, the stupidity to try to save everyone, even if that meant dying in the process.
Hero tried to get rid of Villain attacks, but it was useless, Villain was way stronger than Hero, and without their powers, there wasn't much they could do.
Villain slammed Hero against the floor several times before grabbing them by their hair to pull their head up. "Now I see where Sidekick got the shitty fight moves." Villain chuckled.
Villain dragged Hero to a cell and locked them in, placing the keys a few meters from them. Even if they managed to get out of the cell, they'd still have to pass some traps Villain had placed just in case.
Hero was shaking in rage, how could they let this happen, this was all their fault, and they couldn't do anything to make it right.
"Please, no! Stop it!" Sidekick screamed and begged Villain to leave them alone.
"Sidekick!" Hero stood up and saw that Villain had left the monitor on.
"Hey, shh. Stop crying, Sidekick," Villain murmured. "Hero is watching you. Say "Hi" to Hero," Villain pointed to the camera. Sidekick didn't even move, they were incredulous, maybe it was a cruel joke on them.
"I told you to say "Hi"!" Villain slapped Sidekick, making them whimper. Villain grabbed their hair. "Say. "Hi"." "Hi." It was barely above a whisper. "Good kid!" Villain let their hair go. "See? It wasn't that hard, was it?" "N-no," Sidekick cried.
Prompt #18
Sidekick enters the planning room running, "Heroooooooooooo! Where are youuuuuuu?"
"Over here," Hero grunts standing up.
"Oh, hey!" Sidekick is excited. "Look! I got my grades back!" They handed the paper to Hero.
"Oooh, straight A's. Good job, Sidekick!" Hero said messing up Sidekicks hair.
"Thanks!"
"I still don't know how I didn't fail, because I was basically absent half of the semestre!"
Hero chuckled, "Do you wanna get some ice-cream to celebrate?"
Sidekick gasped. "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!"
"Ok then, you nerd."
"Hey, I'm not a nerd!" Sidekick punched Hero in the arm jokingly.
"Tell that to your grades." Hero chuckled grabbing the keys.
Prompt #17
"…D-Dad?!" the protagonist stared in disbelief.
"OK, first of all, I can explain…" He had spontaneously popped into existence in their kitchen with a glowing sword and a gallon of milk.
"Go on, explain it." the protagonist was absolutely shocked, and angry and had a lot of mixed emotions. The man who vanished from their life sixteen years ago had just appeared out of nowhere in front of them with the milk they'd promised to buy.
"So... I think we better sit down; this is a large story, and you may not even believe it."
"I think I'll believe anything, I mean, since you just popped outta nowhere into my house."
"'Kay... Umm... I was actually comin' home after I bought the milk." He placed the milk in the table. "But some weird man told me to follow him, so I did-"
"You don't follow a strange man anywhere!" the protagonist was surprised their dad was that stupid.
"I know, but it seemed the right thing to do then." He sat down and patted the sofa for his child to sit next to him, the protagonist did.
"The thing is the man wasn't actually a man, he was an alien who could shapeshift into anything they imagined. He was here because he needed help to save his planet from some invasion."
"And you were perfect for that?" the protagonist was beyond confused, aliens, shapeshifters, his dad appearing as if nothing had happened, that was a lot for one day.
"No. Not quite. I was just the only one who had listened to Jeff."
"Who's Jeff?"
"The alien. I'm sorry if I go to fast, I'm just exited to finally be back," they hugged the protagonist. The protagonist took their father's hand off them.
"Don't try parenting me right now. You could have done that all the sixteen years you left."
"I know, and I'm sorry, I just had to help, Jeff needed me, his world-"
"Well, I needed you too! And so did mom and Paul! Didn't you think about us before going into your fucking magical quest!"
"I'm sorry, I really am. If you could just let me-"
"What? Make an excuse on why helping a fucking stranger was more important than us? Or even just following a strange man when you could have been in so much danger and you could have died, do you understand that I ain't welcoming you with kisses and hugs when you literally thought it was a good idea to play hero instead of being a parent to me and my brother." The protagonist stood.
Their dad stood up as well. "I understand that you're mad at me, and you have all the right to be, but it was the right thing to do, ok. And maybe I thought you'd be happy for me, even proud that your dad is a hero." He tried grabbing their hand, but they pulled it away.
"You are not my dad. Maybe biologically, but don't you dare call yourself a dad, because you left, you abandoned all of us to go into an adventure, not knowing if you'd come back. You didn't even call once, you could have at least sent a message to mom if you were to go into another world, maybe then I could have understood. But no, you had to go on your own, not caring about us. So no, I'm not proud of you, and I ain't happy your back, you're like a stranger to me. So, I'm going to ask you to get out of my house, please." The protagonist opened the door and gestured for their father to leave.
"Can I at least see your mom?"
"She's dead," the protagonist looked dead in the eye, burning in rage. "She passed 4 years ago, of cancer."
Their dad's eyes watered. "And your brother?"
"At school, but I won't let you see him. Bye."
"But he's my son, it's my right-"
"No, you have no fucking right in calling him your son. You left, you didn't even care, so no. You won't see him. And if you don't leave in the next ten seconds, I'll call the police."
"Please..."
The protagonist gave him a look and he knew they were serious. He sighed. "I left my number in the milk. Bye."
If he couldn't visit his son on his house, maybe he'd have to go to school, right?
Ok, so this thing is strongly, like a really really, "inspired", not to say basically my interpretation of this @writing-prompt-s prompt: link. I copied like most of it and gave it my touch, so I think that they deserve to be mentioned and recognized for their work, because it isn't mine. Besides, I'm a huge fan of them, so... I hope you enjoyed it!
Prompt #16
"No, I´m not "The Chosen One", I just serve coffee for a living!" the protagonist said, clearly irritated. They had been working all day and three guys telling them that they were "The Chosen One" in some sort of prophesy wasn't exactly what they needed.
"Yes you're, it's written in the prophesy, look!" Guy #1 handed the protagonist the papyrus, there was a drawing of them (the protagonist) on it, with some words written in an ancient language.
"You can't say no," guy #2 said. "Your face is literally drawn there."
"I know, but it may just be a coincidence, or maybe someone is playing a joke on you." The protagonist started cleaning up the tables, they were closing the café when these three dudes came in.
"Nonsense!" Guy #3 stated. "The prophesy is clear, you're the one who will save humanity! Our ancestors knew it, our Gods sent you for us!"
"I'm an atheist, so I highly doubt it." The protagonist cleaned the last table and started moping the floors.
"You can't say no," Guy #2 took the mop away from the protagonist. "Our lives depend on you, everyone's lives, actually, so you better come with us willingly, or we'll have to us the force."
"Are you threatening me?" the protagonist moved to the counter, there was a silent help button there.
"No, not quite," Guy #1 interfered. "It's just that we need your help, we're desperate. All civilization will die if you don't come with us, please, come."
"How do I know this isn't a trap?" the protagonist highly doubted they were any important, besides, they were atheist, how would they be the saviour.
"You'll have to trust us" Guy #1 said. "We can't guarantee anything, but the prophesy says that our Gods will give you lots of presents and you'll become the King of Kings and the God of Gods".
"You've got to be shitting me." The protagonist scoffed. "I aint gonna be a King, and even less a fucking God. Get outta here, please." The protagonist opened the door.
"We're not leaving without you, Protagonist."
"Wait, how do you know my name? I never said it to you." The protagonist was overwhelmed by this whole situation, they just wanted help to arrive, what was taking so long?
"The prophesy says it." Guy #3 explained.
"But- You know the language?"
"No, your name is the only word there that is in English, or the only one we kinda understand, so..."
"So, you're basing this whole prophesy shit in something you can't even read?!"
"But that's what it says, and that's what the Gods want."
"What the Gods want." The protagonist laughed, sarcastically. "What the Gods want. Do you even know if they're fucking real?! Have you seen them?!" The protagonist was breathing heavily, this was it.
They heard some sirens on the background. Was it the help they had asked for?
"Please just leave."
"Not without you." Guy #1 said firmly. "Now!"
Guy #2 grabbed the protagonist and injected them with a sedative, then, they went to their car and took the protagonist. The help never arrived.
Prompt #15
“What is it? What’s wrong Sidekick?” Hero rushes to shacking sidekick.
“No-nothing… I-“ sidekick tries to explain, but the sobbing doesn’t let them.
“Come here,” Hero hugs them. “It’s ok, shhh.”
Sidekick lets out muffled cries, they can’t control it.
“It’s ok, it’s ok, don’t worry, everything is fine, you’re all right, you’re safe, shhh, it’s ok, you’re safe here.” Hero reassures, poor kid, something bad must have happened.
“I- I don’t know wha-what to do with myself anymore.” They manage to say, shackling. “I don’t-I didn’t know where to go get help, Hero! You’re my-my only hope, Hero, I feel like I’m dying inside. Please, please help me!” Sidekick cries.
Hero is shocked, they had alway thought that Sidekick was alright, how could they miss this?!
“Hey, it’s ok, I’m here, I’ll help you. Don’t worry, I’ll always be here for you, ok?”
Sidekick only nods and hugs Hero tighter.
“I’ll make some tea, just sit in the couch, feel like home.”
“Th-thanks” Sidekick answers sniffing.
“I’ll be right back.”
Hero prepares both tea cups and returns to Sidekick after it.
“Careful, it’s hot. “ Hero hands Sidekick their cup.
“Thanks”
“Do you wanna talk about it?”
“About what?” Sidekick takes a sip of their tea.
“About why you came here in the middle of the night crying?”
“Oh, that… umm, I had an argument with my mom.” Sidekick says embarrassed.
“Oh, what happened? Was it that bad really?”
“Well, umm… I-I-she hit me with a pan multiple times and then gave me a speech on why I’m a failure and why I can’t be more like my brother and all of that… but umm… I also didn’t come immediately here, I, umm, I was kinda sucidal and cut the veins from my arm, then I realized I’m sort of a hero and couldn’t just die, so I stitched me up -kinda- and now I’m here and I don’t think I plan returning home.”
“What the fuck” Hero murmured. “Are you ok?! Do you need help with your wounds? Why didn’t you start there? I-I’ll go get the first aid kid, do-don’t move.”
“Hero, I’m ok, don’t worry.”
“Too late, you’re getting all patched up.”
Sidekick sighed and took a sip or their tea.
“I’m back, where would you like me to start, in the arm or…?” Hero placed the kit on the coffee table.
“The arm, please.”
“Ok, let me see… Oh my gosh, Sidekick, what the fuck did you do?! This is baaaad.” “Sorry?”
“Don’t be, it’s ok, you’re gonna be fine. Just take a deep breath, I’m going to cut the stitches you made, ok?”
“Ok.” Sidekick took a deep breath and Hero rubbed some alcohol, and that alone hurt a lot. Sidekick grunted.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry. It’s almost over.” That was a lie.
Hero then started cutting the stitches, hurting Sidekick more.
“You know what, bite this down, we don’t want more accidents.” Hero handed a bandage roll to Sidekick.
“Ready?”
Sidekick nodded in agreement. Hero finishes cutting through and cleaned everything to restitch them. Sidekick’s screams were muffled but still awful to hear.
“Ok, done!” Sidekick sighed with relief at those words. “Now, did the pan leave any wound that I can help?”
“I don’t think so, I didn’t feel any blood or anything, maybe just bruises.”
”Do you want me to check?”
“No, it’s ok, thanks.”
“Ok. Come here, I’ll show you your room.”
“Room?! As in my room?”
“Yeah?” Hero was confused.
“Wow! I never had my own room! Awesome!” Sidekick was stunned by that.
“Wait, what?” Hero was shocked, they hoped they misunderstood that.
“Yeah, my siblings and I all slept in the same bed.”
“Oh, I see, well, this is all yours.”
“Really?! Thanks.” Sidekick hugged Hero.
“It’s this one.” Hero opened the door.
“Wow!.” Sidekick was impressed, it was enormous.
“Thanks Hero, really, thanks, thanks, thanks!” Sidekick hugged Hero.
“You’re welcome, Sidekick. There’s clothes in the counter and soap and everything you might need on the bathroom. Do you want dinner?”
“Thanks, but I ate at my house. Really, thanks for all.”
“That’s what friends are for.”
And with that, Hero left Sidekick in their new room.
Prompt #14
"Villain!" Hero screamed as they approached Villain.
"What do you want?" Villain answered, playing annoyed.
"Why did you throw a bomb to a school full of kids?! How cou-"
"It was a social experiment." Villain interrupted.
"Almost everyone there died, Villain, kids, teachers, how the fuck are you so calm?!" Hero was shocked, how could someone be so calm after blowing away a whole fucking school with kids in it?
"I told you it was a fucking social expe-" Villain tried to clarify.
"A social experiment," Hero said mockingly, "A social experiment. What the fuck Villain! Are you out of your mind?!" Hero slapped Villain with that last sentence.
"OK, I deserve that, but-"
"Yes, you fucking deserve that and worse!" Hero interrupted, again.
"If you would just let me explain..." Villain said calmly.
"Save that for the judges. You are under arrest Villain." Hero said firmly, taking out the cuffs.
"It was a fucking social experiment, the school wasn't even real, the people there were fake, they were robots!" Villain finally explained, irritated.
"And you are expecting me to believe that shit?!" Hero said angrily.
"Yes!"
There was a beat.
"Look, arrest me, do all your paperwork, anything you have to fucking do, and when you find the truth, you'll see I'm not lying, OK?"
"How do I know this isn't part of any of your evil plans?" Hero asked doubting everything Villain said, this was too easy to be real.
"You'll have to trust me."
"And why should I do that?"
"Because I murdered a thousand people, obviously. Who wouldn't trust me?" Villain left a grin come out.
Hero rolled their eyes and finally handcuffed Villain.
Prompt #13
“I wanna die!” Sidekick sighed. “Same.” Hero agreed.
“What’s Wong with you people?!” Villain exclaimed, “aren’t you supposed to represent hope?!”
“Meh!” Sidekick answered. “It varies from moment to moment.”
Prompt #12
“Everybody is a hero in their own story, at least that’s what pops said.” Villain said, watching the stars, laying down with Hero.
“Do you believe it? Do you think you’re a hero in your story?” Hero turned, facing Villain.
“Yes. Yes, I do.” Villain did the same as Hero. “Perspective is reality, take for example Jesus Christ, the son of God, he who died for our sins. He was crucified, why? Because he was the bad guy, the villain in someone’s story. But it’s well known he wasn’t, he was a good guy. How could God’s son ever be bad? Still, people hated on him, because he meant change, and that’s what people is scared of. Change. When someone ever tries changing something, even if it’s to make the world a better place, people, society gets scared, thinks you’re dangerous. That’s why people like you are called “heroes”, ‘cause you keep things the way they are, so people feel safe around you, they feel comfortable; and that’s why people like me are called “villains”, because we cause discomfort, we represent uncertainty, and people hate that, so they fear us, they want to fucking stop us, and they send lame heroes like you-“
“-Hey! I’m not lame!”
“They send lame heroes to stop us, they risk innocent people lives to stop us, because that’s what they think it’s right, they’re trying to survive, but this never ends, this is a cycle of endless war and suffering, people dying for “the greater good” and to be remembered for what they did, but they’re just replaced as if they weren’t a person.”
Prompt #11
“I did what I had to do.” Superhero said, clearly irritated of Hero scolding them.
“No, you only did the best for you!” Hero scoffed. “That’s what you always do, you’re not fooling anyone, at least not anymore.”
Prompt #9
Part 3
They arrived where the villain was. Villain was expecting them, and greeted them.
“What an unexpected surprise!” Villain said sarcastically.
“Aren’t all surprises unexpected?” Sidekick whispered to Hero.
“Yes, but don’t tell him.” Hero answered.
“You know I can still hear you, right?”
Sidekick giggled. “Yeah.”
Hero laughed. “Now, back in business, what is it that you’re planning this time?”
“Lemme guess, a machine to destroy the world.” Sidekick jokes.
“If I feel like killing someone’s is gonna be you Sidekick.”
“Yey! I’m finally the first option.” Sidekick said laughing.
“And to answer your question Hero, I’ve managed to stop time and move through it.”
“Prove it.” Hero challenged Villain.
“Sure thing.” Villain said as they pushed the button.
Time stopped, everyone froze, but Villain wasn’t counting in particles as light or air to stop moving, soon everybody would be dead, including them.
Villain pressed the button to make time still pass, but it was impossible to, someone had sabotaged it.
Within a minute, people started dying, they were panicking, would it be the end of the world?
Tbh, I didn't know what I was doing, I was kinda bored and just let my imagination wander and do whatever tf it wanted to do.
But if anybody is wondering (literally nobody), everybody dies, because without time, there´s no space, which means no movement, which means no oxygen, which means death.
Prompt #4
“You killed my family, I’m here to return the favor“
“Bitch, who tf are you?”
“Don’t you remember me?! I’m the kid you left as an orphan!”
“Dammit still don’t remember. Gotta be more specific.”
“Wha- You killed my parents and my brothers… in Mexico… at night… three years ago..?”
“Still nothing.”
“You’re making these strangely hard.“ I sighed “I was the kid who tried shooting you but couldn’t lift the gun.”
“Aaaaah! Now I remember you!”, he said while laughing, “you had potential kid, I wish you don’t disappoint me.” He moved insanely fast and threw a punch across my face.
I growled, moving forward to attack.
Punch after punch, kick after kick, time seemed not to pass, we were stuck until one of us died.
I took my daggers and tried to stab him, but he grabbed my hand and damn, his grip was strong, I tried getting of it, but it was useless, he kicked me several times on my ribs, I felt the air leaving my body, I hadn’t noticed he took my dagger until he stabbed me, throwing me to the floor.
The blood was flooding and the pain… the pain was sharp.
“I expected more from you, kid” he said disappointed.
“I-I could say the same”
“Beg your pardon?”
“Yeah…” I paused to growl, damn it, the pain was increasing. “I thought you’d be more of a threat… guess I was wrong.”
Punch after punch, kick after kick, time seemed not to pass, we were stuck until one of us died.
Was re-reading my posts and found this phrase. Kinda sound poetic, idk.
Prompt #10
"We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents." Villain said with a smirk, analizing Hero.
"What?" Hero was still dizzy because of the drugs and was bearly registering a word Villain said.
"Aren't you listening Hero?" Villain moved closer to Hero, who was chained to the floor with a cuff around their ankle. "This is just a happy little accident."
"W-what are you talking about?" Still trying to focus their sight.
"This." And with that, Villain revealed a hanging unconscious Sidekick. They had bruises all over their face and dried and fresh blood everywhere. Their once perfectly made costume was now torn open, letting cuts, bruises and scraps out in sight.
Hero took a steadying breath. How could Villain do this to a kid? Sidekick was just 16 years old and was a really bubbly person, this job was definitely not for them, but their determination to help was strong.
"Sidekick!" Hero managed to scream, they could feel the tears coming. This was their fault. How could they let a kid play costumes and fight crime?
"It's to late now, Hero." Villain assured, placing his hand on Hero's head. "Sidekick is dead." Hero's heart sinked in with this words. "Wha-no, no, no, no- this can't- shit- wh- how!?" Hero cried, too shocked to say anything coherent.
"Don't blame yourself Hero, it's just a happy little accident, you weren't mistaken on letting them be your sidekick, it was just a happy. little. accident."
And with that, Villain left the room, leaving Hero and Sidekick's body.

Prompt #8
Part 2
Sidekick is at school. They get a text from Hero, Hero never calls them, because they know Sidekick is at school.
(This is the conversation they have through their phone)
“Hey Sidekick! Need your help, do you want me to pick you up?”
“Hey! I’ve math exam next period.”
“Oh, I thought you had finished your exams.”
“That’s what I thought too, but yk how it is… is it like really urgent, I don’t mind loosing an exam.”
“The sooner we get there, the better.”
“Ok, come and get me. When will you get here?”
“In 20 or so.”
“Ok.”
(Here it ends)
“Shit.” Sidekick sighs and goes to math class, they need to finish their exam in less than 20 minutes, how the hell are they gonna achieve it?
“Morning, take a sit and let’s start with the exam, phones to the front, the rules are the same as always, no cheating, etc etc.”
Ok, I can do it, it’s not that hard, is it?
Maths wasn’t exactly Sidekick’s forte, but somehow managed to finish the exam on time.
Hero sent them another text.
“I’m here, come quickly.”
“On my way.”
Sidekick rushed to the car, they had to go unseen or they’d be in big trouble.
“Hey! Get in.”
“Hi” Sidekick said panting.
“How was the exam, I mean, did you take it or…?”
“Yeah, I could, somehow… I might fail,” they sighed. “But yeah, at least it’s done.”
Hero started their car.
“Sidekick… I know I’m no one to tell you this, but you should care more about your future, colleges, you need to get better grades, I know it’s hard with all of this, but, just try, please.”
“No, yeah, I know, I’m trying to, but… I don’t know if Imma go to college.”
“I know, it’s ok, but you should try to.”
“Yeah, I will, but I don’t promise anything.”
Hero turned to see Sidekick, they saw their black eye.
“Have you told your mom about it?”
“What?”
Hero made a gesture with his hand, pointing their eye.
“Oh, yeah, no I haven’t, she’d freak out and if she freaks out I freak out and maybe I wouldn’t be able to even go to school.”
“‘Kay”
The rest of the ride was silent, it wasn’t a long journey, but the silence was awkward.
Prompt #7
Part 1
Sidekick is home after a battle against Villain, exhausted and hurt. They’re about to go to sleep when their alarm goes off, they have to go to school.
Sidekick groans and heads the shower. They finish showering, go to the kitchen to eat breakfast, their mother approaches them to talk, but they turn around.
Villain punched them in the face and now they have a black eye, but they can’t show their mother, she’d freak out.
“Sidekick! Look at me went I’m talking to you!”
“Sorry mom.” They said, still not looking at her.
“Then turn around. Why won’t you look at me?”
“I-“ they hesitated. “Gotta go, I have to get earlier today, uh… got a project to finish. Bye.” They rushed to the door, but their mom stopped them.
“Not so fast Sidekick, I know you’re hiding something.”
“No I’m not.”
“Sidekick…” Their mom sighed. “Look at me. I know it’s been hard since your father died, but-“
“This has nothing to do with Dad! See you later.” As they said that, they left.
Kinda took inspiration of TASM, the part when May and Peter discuss in the kitchen, but idk. :)
