hi! my name is blake and i write and produce a fiction podcast called Cassette Tapes From August. it is queer, sci fi, comedy and i'd love to get your thoughts! we are releasing a (very delayed) conclusion to season 2 soon and i'm trying to promote it more. what would you recommend i do to promote it further here on tumblr?
Now, I have limited experience with marketing, and certainly don't have my own show to promote, so with any luck there are some creators following me that can let you know what works for them. That said, I know the sort of things that help me to find (and engage with) other people's shows.
Make promo posts: a post telling us what your show is all about is a solid way to let people know your show exists. Show people your cover art to help them find it, and you can even include links to your feed or website if you like. Letting people know the kind of rep you have can also be a tasty bonus, but I'd always advise against using this as the focus, more as the toppings to compliment a synopsis.
Use tags: I personally check the #audio drama and #fiction podcast tags pretty regularly, and anyone else doing the same will have a bigger chance of finding you there. I'd also recommend using your own podcast's tag: #cassette tapes from august
Make a new post to let people know when a new episode releases: I'd suggest including a little promo for your show at the end of these posts, because it's always a chance to grab new listeners.
Become friends/associates with other podcasts: fiction podcasting is a heavily indie community, which means most of us find each other through people/accounts we already know. It's also nice to be on good terms with other creators, with whom you can trade advice, promos, friendship, and even crew, if need be.
Have fun, and don't be afraid to join in on community conversations, games, and events: for two reasons. 1) General chatter and games often travel better than you'd expect, and 2) why do something you don't enjoy? Of course, the latter depends on you enjoying the listed activities, but I believe "have fun" still stands.
I appreciate the introduction, and I'm very much looking forward to listening to your show!
