mutual aid and rent relief for S as she battles stage IV breast cancer

The country they are currently immigrated to does not allow mutual aid, so this will be our only opportunity to crowdfund. S’ brother, L, is returning home for a week to arrange paperwork for their mother. Once he leaves, I will remove this fundraiser for S and her brother’s safety. Thank you so, so much.

Hello everyone, I am posting this on behalf of my three cousins, who are requesting mutual aid from the people online in more fortunate circumstances. They are three immigrant workers from the global south and medical refugees in a country in West Asia. Currently, my cousin S is fighting stage 4 breast cancer, and due to a deeply upsetting and misogynistic situation, she, alongside her brother and sister, all working class, were forced out of the home they were staying at. 

My aunt recently had the opportunity to come and help S with her illness; Unfortunately, while there, she suffered two heart attacks. I am gathering funds to support S in three ways. First is to extend our aunt's visa as she is in no condition to return home. Second is to alleviate their food and housing insecurity, as their combined income is eaten away by S’ cancer treatments and rent. Third is to pad their emergency funds, as S’ chemotherapy is unavailable in our home country and only available in where they are currently immigrated to.  Again, we are so grateful beyond words for all the help!!

Visa: 1,000 usd

Rent and food alleviation: 500 usd

Emergency funds: 200 usd, anything extra we receive.

Hey everyone, an hour after I published this 4 days ago, ko-fi temporarily unpublished the page so I could verify some information with them. Today Ko-fi approved, and donations can be resumed. We are currently 10% of the goal, I also wanted to share some more verifying information on S' situation here, here and here. please note the pathology reports are from 2 years ago, and her illness has progressed since, but I was told by her doctors her prognosis is still very good/ she is very responsive to treatments. reblogged a post with a correction about spray sunscreens (they work way less well than you think) but then decided the very small number of people who might see my reblog wasn't worth the likelihood that people would read it as me discouraging sunscreen use and come to yell at me so i deleted it.

but FYI, here in my own post:

spray sunscreens don't work very well

neither do (most) sunscreen sticks

in general, michelle wong (a.k.a. lab muffin beauty science), a chemistry PhD who is very passionate about sunscreen and spends a lot of time debunking sunscreen misinformation, is a useful resource for learning about sunscreen! both the above links go to videos she made. here is another: many many sunscreen questions answered
