I love the “captain’s log” mechanism in Star Trek as a method for time skips and exposition.

I am, however, devastated that we never got an episode where any captain’s voiceover is strained and slow. very precise about the events they’re describing. Also as someone in the tags pointed out, FGM is fundamentally an issue of violent misogyny that sees women as lesser and especially female pleasure as something that is undeserved, unnecessary, or even evil. FGM is about punishing people for being born with vaginas and for being able to receive pleasure from their bodies, instead of just being vessels to produce more children for their husbands. FGM doesn't just alter the body slightly, it is meant to be a permanent reminder that to be a woman is to suffer, so that the person who has undergone it is reminded every single waking moment that their body does not belong to them.

I would highly recommend listening to and reading the firsthand accounts of victims of FGM to understand how much it truly impacts their lives.

hey so filming people without their consent is weird. you know that right? filming people you don't know and they aren't aware of what you're doing is creepy. posting strangers online is fucking weird. we're too comfortable with doing it now for shits and giggles, chasing some sort of viral hit instead of reckoning with the fact that you posted someone who did not consent to their body and face being publically used.

we're being pushed these Meta Glasses as if mass surveillance of strangers is fun and normal! it's weird!!! there are already reports that people are using these to film women without them knowing and sharing it to communities who get off on this shit. who else knows who people are filming. these glasses with cameras are not obvious and that is dangerous.
