okay so in the comments of this thread people started discussing getting a lobster to reach godhood of being huge and its was pretty cool. they talked about how thered just be people dedicated to breaking the lobster out of its shell when it molts and itd go on for centuries until the reason they did it was forgotten and people just assue the giant lobster was a god and so people helping it molt were its preists or whatever. it was fucking wild

Y’all know when Mulan is sitting in the rain and watches her parents silhouette disappear as the candle is blown out and then her eyes squint in determination and the music that starts to play and you see her go into the family temple and light a match and bow in respect and then sneak into her parents room and switch the scroll for her hair brooch and then the way her reflection is shown as she pulls the sword and cuts her hair?? It’s literally more iconic than any marvel movie

Y’all know that there is heavy symbolism in that scene to show that Mulan is the spirit of the Great Stone Dragon and that’s why Mushu wasn’t able to awaken it?

Mulan sits in the rain underneath the statue of the Great Stone Dragon (who is looking down on her), and suddenly decides on a course of action. She looks up, resolved to go to war in place of her father and runs into the temple where she lights the match and beseeches protection for her family. The stone she bows to and that we see lit up by lightening strike is that of the dragon, whose eyes are looking out after her, lit from underneath by the candles. The scene transitions to the divider in the house that also has an icon of the dragon. where she replaces her hair comb with the summons. Then we see the sword hilt, also the dragon, and as she draws the blade we see her face replace it. She ties up her hair, then as she opens the wardrobe, the handles are also the dragon. After donning the armor, the view shows her facing us, with the hilt of the sword (the face of the dragon) in front of her face, where she then turns the sword to reveal her face, and sheaths it. As she leaves, we flash back to the temple, and the eyes of the dragon flash as her grandmother wakes up.

The Great Stone Dragon resides within her. She is the protector of the family.

After this explanation, the scene where Mushu cannot wake up the stone dragon makes so much more sense. I appreciate the symbolism so much more. I noticed the dragon but didn’t notice she was constantly juxtaposed with the dragon!

rend: I just, I just wanted to share: I got what is tentatively the first chapter of Sentient Arm done. The one where Tony made Bucky's arm and it has an AI? Today was an unusually good day, and I got a lot of writing done. I, um, also wanted to share that I made an account elsewhere. WritScrib, if you've heard of it. I still suck at social media and things like this, but I've been trying to get back out there for a while now, and WritScrib seemed legit. How about you? Are you doing ok?

And yay, inspiration - I’m happy you had such a good day. I’ll have to look into WritScrib. If I recall correctly that’s the one with Hal? You showed me a bit and it was so good! 

Yeah... my tumblr app stopped working and then after a while looking at my dashboard was just too stressful... I’m keeping my account since I really enjoyed it for a bit and I might again in the future, not to mention this is how I talk to you, but yeah. 

As for how I’m doing... in the span of 3 days I had 2 different job scams. Both had seemed legit when they emailed me and had websites, their English may not have been the best but I try not to be too judgy about that. But then I went to the websites and got suspicious at how blond and pretty the people were. So I reverse-google-image searched the pictures. And one was a stock photo labeled ‘senior citizen’ and the other was from the ad for the Spanish equivalent of viagra, so... The job search is not going the greatest. Not to mention the emails I got about being a ‘personal’ (winkwinknudgenudge) assistant. UGH. If you want sex go to somewhere meant for it, not Ziprecruiter. I AM TRYING TO APPLY TO AN OFFICE JOB. STOP. 

One good thing is that I’ve made some in real life friends! There’s a knitting/crocheting group I’ve joined and everyone is so nice! If talking to them starts to be too much I can just focus on what I’m doing! And there’s always the go-to topic of conversation of ‘what are you working on this time?’

The first lion is asking for comfort because she was given a big spook!!! and she needs mommy to tell her it’s safe and ok!!!! (What’s cuter is that mommy clearly reassures her, and goes on to take the parent role of ‘deal with the scream rat in order to protect my large and easily frightened daughter’)

Boycott To Siri With Love

If you are planning on reading or gifting “To Siri With Love” by Judith Newman, please be aware that the autistic community has called for a boycott. The book is a grotesque invasion of the 13-year old son’s privacy including her cruel observations that imagining him having sex is accompanied by the Benny Hill soundtrack in her head. She plans to acquire power of attorney to have him forcibly sterilized when he is 18 without his consent.

Books having a long shelf life, this tell-all laughing at his struggles with social communication, motor apraxia, etc. may make her a lot of money and has gotten her on the NYT book list, however that book is going to follow him for the rest of his life. It is child abuse in printed format.

Okay, so I read the first twenty pages of the book, and HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS IT’S BAD.

The author begins by saying she hates ‘patronizing’ phrases, but then:

She says she’ll use ‘he’ as the default pronoun because she hates the singular ‘they’ - I quote, “Language needs to evolve, but not into something ugly and imprecise.” She then goes on to bash the word ‘cisgender’ as supposedly pretentious.

She casually mentions looking at her kids’ Google search history as a matter of course.

While discussing the rise in autism diagnosis rates, she says, word for word: “Or whether it’s because slightly odd people who used to be single are having more of a chance to breed”

She consistently uses person-first language, despite having poked fun at it earlier.

She consistently focuses on her (very privileged, narrow, making no attempt to widen it) worldview rather than her child’s.

And that’s just within the first twenty pages.

Here is a post by an actually autistic lady detailing the horrible, callous, dehumanizing way this author speaks of autistic people, the way said author has behaved on Twitter towards autistic people, and yes the author’s unashamed declaration that she intends to forcibly sterilize her autistic son who was, let me remind you, thirteen years old at the time she wrote the book (and is still a minor).

In conclusion, fuck this woman. Absolutely boycott this book. As an autistic person, I know our voices are incredibly diverse, but I think I speak for all of us in saying this: I do not want to be condescended to by people who pretend they’re on my side.
