Do we have an idea of what the Davenport family does for their dollars? Is it possible the initial connection between the two families may have come through business as well?

Honestly…I don’t really know.  I do know that they’re primarily based in Monaco, but I feel that they have houses elsewhere, as well, and travel whenever they like.  It could be that part of their travel, however, came out of their business, initially?  I’m not sure.  I didn’t really say what they do bc I wanted to 1) leave things open to plotting so ppl could sort of choose 2) suck at occupations for some reason hahaha so I never formally made any decisions for the really rich ppl hahaha

Speaking of which, I’m not sure what the Storms do, either, outside letting their land to farmers/whatever incomes the title may bring in, etc, tbqh.  Since the huge agricultural downturn in England that ruined lots of ppl in similar positions after the industrial revolution, I feel certain they’ve turned to ~something~ else in addition but I never formally decided what it might be tbqh hahaha  Um, if anyone has ideas/suggestions I’d love to hear them bc I suck at coming up with occupations tbqh hahaha  

That being said, it’s 100% open as a result, so that absolutely could have brought them together!

However, I want to advocate for the Davenports and Stroms having done business with each other / known each other for a long time. They obviously run in similar circles and it sounds like at least, with some of their relationships they have all known each other for a while.

For the business side of things, I think it’ll depend when they began their businesses. For example, the Storms began looking into things in the late Enlightenment/early Victorian period, so I’m inclined to say they were in something like steel or maybe even cargo shipping that saw a boom first in making trains etc and later in the war effort but, though still significant, is less of a commodity today and has thus seen a downturn, as is borne out in the literal fortunes of the Storms. The Davenport history is far more open for debate though so it’s a little harder to pinpoint.

But it sounds like the general consensus is that the Storms and Davenports have been - in some way - associated for awhile, yeah? If so, does this go back a number of generations or are we talking a more ~recent thing? That is, do you think the current characters grew up together or do you think they met sometime during or after childhood?

Also, Lizzy, you’re the last Davenport and I know you haven’t gotten a chance to respond to this so if you agree/disagree/have something to add to what we’ve already talked about in addition to what we’ve moved on to, pls do!! We’d love to hear your thoughts!!! Nothing’s set in stone!!

okay, so yes! I love the idea that the storms/davenports have been associated w/ each other for a long time! And I’m totally down with the Storms having turned towards steel and/or cargo shipping!!!

Anyway, I feel like maybe the storms/davenports have possibly run in the same circles for a long time ++ so maybe the current generation did, in fact, grow up together??? (but I’m not super sold on this haha)

So Josh “dated” Cedes (Cedes thought it was a fling, he thought it was a relationship - it ended about as well as you might imagine ;D) for awhile, so I’m certain he hung out at least a few times w Beatrice!  I def think that whole crowd is a lil wild for his tastes, but I don’t think that’d stop him, in any way, from appreciating them.  I think he’d really like Beatrice!  I mean, idk that they’re close or anything hahaha but there’s that ;D  Anyway, what might she think of him?

hahah omg I’m just picturing cedes and bea getting josh into all kinds of trouble and they are being super casual about it b/c it’s just their everyday and josh is like ????? but no! I actually think that bea would really like josh, too??? so i’m feeling like bea is a little more on board with the drea/lionel marriage than roland and therefore just much less of a wet blanket about the davenports/storms becoming a family. that being said, bea is really close with cedes and I feel like she may have taken her side on the whole gigi vs. cedes thing, so idk that she’s gonna be that great to gigi ... I mean, idk that she’s gonna be actively mean towards her or anything, but I feel like she’d kinda give her the cold shoulder and not really talk with her more than she has to ... unLESS you think that bea and gigi are friends in their own right???? b/c I can see that going either way ... like I can see bea just finding gigi to be too disciplined and structured to be fun, but I can also see where someone like gigi would have balanced bea in a good way???? idk??? thoughts?????

Anyway, I feel like Beatrice actually kinda adores Lina??? I feel like they’ve probably known each other for quite some time between Bea being friends with Constance ++ Lina having dated Roland??? I feel like Bea would have especially gotten to know her tho when she was with Roland and honestly was just soooo happy for them??? b/c lina just made roland a much happier/better person and idk that bea has ever seen him like that (honestly no one has haha) and so she was def encouraging and supportive of them (altho she def teased both of them a lot ngl smdh). Bea def thought that it would last and was upset when it didn’t and kinda hope that they will have a second chance, but I think she knows better not to try to force anything. 

For now, I feel like bea is just trying to be there for her during this awful time, y’know??? which, for bea, def means doing stuff to take her mind off of it, haha, b/c distractions from feelings vs. facing feelings is how bea tends to handle things.

I agree!!! I actually imagine that it was just a few months ago, give or take? And yeah, I’m sure they’ve known each other for awhile? I’m guessing they may have met through ryan when bea was dating him?? 

as far as the circumstances as to why they ~broke up~ I feel like it was a lot of things? like I just imagine them yelling at each other and accusing each other of things like 

“i saw you!! you poured the milk in the bowl before the cereal! who does that? what kind of person does that, mark?” 

and like I feel like half the things they were saying were just ridiculous, but they were just screaming and people were like “omg wow!!!” and just all kinds of rumors probably sprouted that made it much more dramatic than it was??? and like no one was really listening to what they were ~actually~ saying and now people are like “omg i heard xxx happened” and others are like “no i heard yyy”

Anyway!  Despite being the world’s worst mom, Verena actually does love her kids?????  She’s just soooo????? damn weird???? about it?????  Like, she kills herself and lays the curse and, the moment she comes back as a witch, she probs came and told them she’d always be there at LYndhurst and like tucked them in to bed????? and felt like she’d comforted them and that was the end of that #fail  I feel like her answer was to parenting, in general, was to push them really hard.  And, in a strange way, that was her vote of confidence in them, that they could and would go far, but pressuring your kid straight out of the gate?????? #goodmom-ing

Anyway, she def isn’t a super attentive parent or anything, but I do think in her weird way, she looks out for her daughter and does what she can to improve her prospects, which is what she wishes her mother had done, and thus what she considers good parenting is all about??????

okay, so I think that beatrice has never been a fan of verena??? I feel like she pretty much likes her as much as she likes her other mom (which is not that much). Also, she would not take well to verena pushing her. she’s never been ambitious or even a planner and that would just be both annoying and stressful to bea? I feel like when she was younger, she would have been more likely to try to do whatever to please her mother, but as she got older, she’d realize she didn’t care that much/didn’t want what her mother wanted and yeah ... 

like beatrice doesn’t care about her ~prospects~ (now or in her past life tbh) and all she wants/would have wanted was her mom’s love and affection, not another person to tell her what she should be doing with her life, y’know? so I feel like they probably don’t have that great of a relationship, honestly? like I think that bea probably cares more for her verena than she says (I also don’t think she even realizes how much she cares about her tbh), but for the most part she’s not a fan??? also this is all literally all of her fault???? like??? why???? did??? you??? think??? this was a good?? idea???

Ok, so Beatrice, like her sister Regina, is one of the v few ppl in this world Aldus simply adores and there’s literally nothing he wouldn’t do for her, yknow?  She’s his baby girl, he just loves her.  Plus, not to put too fine a point on it, but there was never any doubt that Beatrice was his, which I think lets him rest easier about her, yknow???  Like, he has so much more to prove to Regina, but Beatrice is the one thing he’s ever loved that no one ever tried to take from him, in a sense????  I mean, except Cyril (whom Aldus loathed for that btw) by trYINg to be her dad but he’s dead now sooooo smdh

Anyway, I def think Aldus spoils her in any incarnation she may have hahaha like all she has to do is look a lil sad and Aldus will MAKE WHATEVER HAPPEN FOR HER #facepalm  That being said, though, he’s a loving dad but not necessarily a good one?????  Bc I mean this is Aldus and he’s the reigning Queen of Drama as well as King of the Problematic, honestly, and he def does lots of questionable things on the daily and I mean just…Aldus???? smdh

okay, so I feel like beatrice has been all over the place as far as aldus is concerned ++ her feelings towards him -- 

so, I think that when she was a little kid, she absolutely adored aldus!! like, I think he was the best parent to her out of the cyril-celeste-aldus-verena parental square thing she’s got going on. Like it sounds like he actually paid attention to her??? And loved her??? And showed his affection???? And I just feel like little bea followed him everywhere and like I feel like she spent all of her time either with roland or aldus tbh?? 

I do think that when she got older, she pulled away tho. I think she started to realize that he's not a great person, but I feel like she might have also felt a little smothered, too??? And idk how much of that is actually ~true, but I feel like teenaged bea wanted to just do her own thing and couldn’t wait to go off to university and get away from everything. 

I think she’s chilled a little from then, though, but I don’t think she’s ever come close to looking up to aldus like how she did when she was a little kid, y’know? like I think she rolls her eyes @ like 1/2 of the stuff aldus does and she knows the kind of person he is (aka not a good one), bUT he’s still her father (kinda?? ;DD) and I think she’ll always love him/care about him on some level (and def more than any of her other parents tbh) 

Oh! But that brings me to Cyril/Beatrice ... and, as you said, I do think he was pretty much a hands off dad, but I can see where that might not have always been the case with Beatrice??? like I’ve got the impression (idk if that’s right or not) that Aldus and Cyril hated each other?????? And idk if Cyril wouldn’t have liked the aldus/beatrice relationship and try to intervene there??? and not b/c he cared about beatrice, but b/c he hated aldus??? but I also might be wrong in this, b/c I can’t remember where I read that they disliked each other and that might not be right at all??? help??
